CDTask is a utility that enables you to load and eject CD's from your CD-ROM drive and that gives you a simple interface for playing and navigating audio CD's.

Unlike other CD player controls, CDTask will not block precious desktop real estate. CDTask installs itself in the notification area of your taskbar and is instantly accessible with a simple click of your mouse.

With CDTask, there is no need for big CD players when all you want is listen to some music while you work. There is also no need to blindly fumble for that Load/Eject button that the designers of CD drives usually place where you cannot find it when the tray is out.

CDTask is a 32bit application and will only run under Windows 95.

--------------------------------------

CDTask is written in Visual Basic 4.0. This means that, while the program itself is rather small, there are some additional support files necessary. On the plus side, you will need these files only once for all programs written in VB4.

Requirements

CDTask will run only under Windows 95. You will not be able to use it with earlier versions of Windows or Windows for Workgroups (3.x) or with any current version of Windows NT.

In addition to the files included in this package, you will need a copy of the VB4 32 bit runtime (VB40032.DLL). This file can be downloaded from most BBS's. It must reside in your Windows System subdirectory.

Installation

Unzip the distribution file CDTASK.ZIP to a temporary directory.

Run the provided Setup program from the temporary directory by clicking on the Start button and selecting "Run..."

The Setup program will ask you for a program directory for CDTask; the default is "Program Files\CDTask", but you can change that to any directory you like by pressing the "Change directory button". Only the program and help files will be copied to the selected directory; the support files will be installed in your system directory.

Start the setup program by clicking the square button.

The Setup program will install a shortcut to CDTask in your Programs folder. You can move this shortcut to any other folder. If you want to load CDTask automatically every time you start Windows, copy the shortcut into your Start-Up folder.

Un-Installation

To remove CDTask from your system, press the Start button, select Settings and start Control Panel. In Control Panel, double click Add/Remove Programs, mark the entry for CDTask and press the Add/Remove button.
