1. The Mr. Confetti Man Screen Saver ?
--------------------------------------
The Mr. Confetti Man Screen Saver is a Windows 3.1 screen saver. Watch as
your screen is randomly filled with colorful pieces of confetti of varying
sizes: small, medium or large. Choose to periodically have your screen
refreshed using 1 of 4 methods: random, vertical, horizontal or mixed. For
more information see the configuration discussion below. This screen saver
contains an "easily avoidable" advertisement for a shareware product from
MCM Productions.

2. Installation
---------------
Unzip CONFETTI.ZIP into a temporary directory. Copy the file CONFETTI.SCR
to your Windows installation directory, this is typically C:\WINDOWS. The
other two files, FILE_ID.DIZ and README.TXT, are informational text files
that are not required by the screen saver. You may discard these files once
you have read them.

3. Configuration
----------------
Select the Mr. Confetti Man Screen Saver as your computer's default screen
saver by running the Control Panel application and then opening the Desktop
icon. In the "Screen Saver" section of the Desktop dialog box there is a
drop down list box labeled "Name". Select the "Mr. Confetti Man" item from
this list box to enable the screen saver. Then select the "Setup" button if
you wish to configure the screen saver as described below. The "Test" button
gives you a chance to preview the screen saver before finalizing your choices
in the Desktop dialog box. Select the OK button to save your settings in the
Desktop dialog box or the Cancel button to abort any changes you may have made.

The graphics performed by the Mr. Confetti Man Screen Saver are rather simple.
It randomly fills your screen with colored confetti. After a certain period
of time, it refreshes your screen back to its original state. Once the screen
has been restored, it once again starts throwing confetti onto your screen.
This cycle repeats itself as long as the screen saver is left active. You can
modify this behavior using the Configuration dialog box as described below.

Using the Configuration dialog box you can set the size of the confetti,
the delay time between screen refreshes (including no screen refreshes)
and how the screen refreshes are performed. The following list highlights
the items found in this dialog box.

    Confetti Size
        Small, Medium, Large or Mixed

    Refresh Type
        Horizontal, Vertical, Random or Mixed

    Screen Refresh Delay
Select from no refresh up to 10 minutes between refreshes

Select the OK button to save your configuration changes or Cancel to abort.

4. UnInstallation
-----------------
Delete CONFETTI.SCR from your Windows installation directory. If you're
familiar with editing INI files, you can remove the [Confetti] section
from WIN.INI. This is where the screen saver stores the configuration
information you have selected. If you don't know what we're talking about,
here's a little lesson in Windows INI files.

    a. INI files are simple ASCII text files that are used by Windows
applications to store configuration information. They "must" be
edited using an ASCII editor such as Notepad.

    b. The configuration information stored in an INI file is separated
into sections using the following notation:

                [application name]
                keyname = value
                ...
                ...

The [application name] specifier is used to denote a section. The
"keyname = value" specifiers are used to store individual settings
of whatever an application needs to have saved between executions.

    c. This screen saver stores its configuration information in the
section labeled [Confetti] in WIN.INI. This file can be found
in your Windows installation directory. Edit the file using a
simple ASCII editor, such as Notepad, and remove the [Confetti]
section and all the "keyname = value" specifiers under it. Do
not remove anything else from WIN.INI or you may damage your
    Windows installation.

    d. The following shows a typical listing of the [Confetti] section
(you're numbers may be different). Note that if you have never
bothered to configure the screen saver, these lines will not be in
    WIN.INI.

                [Confetti]
                Size=1
                Type=2
                Delay=5

If you're still unsure about what an INI file is and are nervous about
editing one, then don't. Leaving the configuration information stored
by the screen saver in WIN.INI does not cause any critical harm to your
computer. It just makes your WIN.INI file a little cluttered.
