Welcome to FTL!

This is the README file for the demonstration program for FTL 2.1, the
powerful new hypertext, hypermedia components from CIUPKC Software. The
demo is actually a set of DHT (Delphi Hyper Text) files for FTL which
explain the workings of the component system and also demonstrate its
power at the same time!

HOW TO USE THE DEMO

Unzip the distribution file into a single directory. Copy the Delphi.avi
file from the Delphi CD or disks into the directory if you wish to test
the AVI display capabilities of FTL. Make sure all the files are there,
particularly the .RXP and .ARY files which are needed to parse the
hypertext, as well as the .DHT and graphics files.

From the program manager (or explorer in Win 95) invoke FtlDemo. It will
bring up a splash screen, and you will be in the first demo file.

If the file comes up as just text (no graphics or links) resize the
display window so it is large enough not to have breaks in the hypertext and
reload DEMO1.DHT from the File|Open menu item and you will return to the
normal demo pathway. Also make sure the .RXP and .DHT files are in the
current directory.

Follow the links in the demo file whenever the cursor turns into a pointing
hand (like Windows help!) Moving around inside the demo structure will give
you a fair idea of the capabilities of FTL.

Then start changing the several dozen menu options and observe how this
changes the behavior and appearance of the demo files! This is the real
power behind FTL, because everything you see in the demo was created in
the Delphi IDE using the VCL components and their OnEvent method handlers!

(If you encounter unexpected or anomalous behavior from the demo, please
don't worrry; this is a system in early release and a few bugs are still
being chased. If you wish to order the product, or not, don't hesitate to
send mail to the address below with bug reports! (If you find a bad enough
one, you might get a free copy by way of thanks!)
