    Why Register NewsCIS ?
    --------------------
NewsCIS gives you 30 days of UNLIMITED usage. You can select, download,
read, and reply to as MANY Newsgroups OFFLINE as you like.

After 30 days, the program limits your DOWNLOADING to TWO Newsgroups
per download. The Newsgroups CAN be changed, however, and downloaded
again. Also, each download session will give you a maximum of 15
articles for each Newsgroup. Again, you can perform subsequent
downloads for the same Newsgroup, but you will receive a maximum of
15 articles from each Newsgroup when you do.

Upon registering NewsCIS, TorqueWare (author of NewsCIS), will E-Mail
you a file that restores UNLIMITED usage. You will also be provided
E-Mail support from TorqueWare through Compuserve's E-Mail system,
postal mail, and through TorqueWare's Web Page on the Internet (under
construction http://www.torqueware.com) The Web Page will have updated
lists of Newsgroups, Troubleshooting, and information about any NewsCIS
updates and other products offered by TorqueWare.

Look for "NewsFix.Zip" in the library where you downloaded NewsCIS.Zip
for future updates and bug fixes to NewsCIS !!!

        * 9/1/95 *

        1) An extra field, "Logon Parameters", was added under the
"Modem" section in "Settings". You will not need to enter
anything here unless instructed by a TorqueWare Customer
           Service Representative.

        2) A few people reported receiving an "OK" from CompuServe after
connecting, and NewsCIS wasn't properly handling this. In MOST
cases, this has been resolved, but on occasion, users have had
to put "GO FREE" in the "Logon Parameters" field.

        3) When sending REPLIES to articles, there were occasional modem
timing problems, resulting in a "You are no longer subscribed
to [Newsgroup Name]" error message. This has been fixed.

        * 9/11/95 *

        1) The "OK" prompt from CompuServe is fixed once and for all. If
you had entered "GO FREE" or "EXIT" in the "Logon Parameters"
field to bypass this, you will need to take it out now.

        * 9/12/95 *

        1) When sending REPLIES to articles, there were STILL occasional modem
timing problems, resulting in a "You are no longer subscribed
to [Newsgroup Name]" error message. This has DEFINATELY been fixed.

If you have not already installed the program, here are the steps
necessary to get you up and running...

    1) Copy "NewsCIS.Zip" onto your hard drive (if you did not download
       it from CompuServe).

    2) From DOS, type "PKZIP NewsCIS.Zip". This will extract all of the
files within NewsCIS.Zip that are necessary for the system to INSTALL.

                        *** NOTE ***

If you do not have PkZip.Exe, you can download a
file called "PK204G.EXE" from the WinShare forum
[GO WINSHARE] Library #1. Once you receive it,
type PK204G.EXE, and this self-extracting file will
create PkZip.Exe for you. Repeat step #2.

    3) From Windows click on FILE, RUN, (from Win95...START, RUN), and
enter the drive\path to the location that has the NewsCIS files,
       and enter "Setup.Exe"

            Example: C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE

    4) That's all there is to it! The Setup program will install all of
the NewsCIS files to the directory you designate, and will also
install certain files into your Windows/Win95 directories that
       enable NewsCIS to run.

                        *** Note ***

If your Windows/Win95 SYSTEM directory (usually C:\WIN\SYSTEM)
does NOT have "VBRUN300.DLL" and "THREED.VBX", you will need to
download these from the WinShare forum [GO WINSHARE] Library #1,
Copy them into your Windows/Win95 SYSTEM directory. If you do
NOT have these, you will get a message from NewsCIS telling
you that it cannot find a file, and you will not be able to run it.

Be sure to read the HELP information when you run the program (press F1)

        6) From Windows click on FILE, RUN, (from Win95...START, RUN), and
enter the drive\path to the location that has the NewsCIS
            files and enter "Setup.Exe"

            Example: C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE
