Overview

Auto Attach for Windows (AttachW) allows you to login to one or more NetWare servers, map
drives, set printer connections, and logout, all at the click of an icon.

With the advent of Novell's VLM Client Software (shipped with versions 3.12 and 4.0), it is no
longer required to be attached to a server while loading the network drivers. Now remote dial-in
users can dial the modem, connect, login, map drives, set printer connections, logout, and
disconnect, all from within Windows.

Direct connect LAN users can also use Auto Attach for Windows to simplify temporary
attachments to multiple Novell servers. Upon connection, you can automatically launch
applications on the remote server. You can also specify Auto Attach for Windows to log you out
when the application is completed.

Auto Attach for Windows uses predefined "sessions" to simplify these complex attachments. A
session defines:

*	A startup program to launch (i.e., remote dial-in software)
*	The Novell server(s) to attach to, map drives and set printer connections for
*	An application to launch once a connection is established
*	A window to monitor, which when closed will cause you to be detached
*	A program to launch when done (i.e., dial-up modem disconnect software)

You can run a session via an icon by specifying the session name in the AttachW command line
or you can launch a session while running Auto Attach for Windows.

If your needs are less complex, you can simply run AttachW and select a server to login to. If
you have defined disk drive maps for that server, they will be automatically mapped for you.

Auto Attach for Windows can be set up so that the end-user will never see the main screen by
setting the "Window style at startup" under "At StartUp" to Minimize for the session.

Getting Started

To get started, you should configure a session file to run. You can run the Auto Attach Configure
program by one of two ways: selecting the AttachW Configure icon from the Auto Attach for
Windows group, or by selecting the Auto Attach for Windows icon from the Auto Attach for
Windows group and selecting the configure icon (the Swiss army knife).

You can specify command line options to tailor Auto Attach for Windows for your needs:

[drive:][path\]attachw.exe [/?] [session name[.ses]] [/D] [/C] [/F=progname]

/? options
session name session file to use (extension ".ses" is optional)
/D disconnect (detach and disconnect from servers in the session or all
servers if session is not specified)
/C configure (show only Auto Attach Configure screen)
/F=progname override specified session startup program/file name to launch (useful to
have many icons launch different programs and only one
			session needs to be defined.
(MUST BE THE LAST PARAMETER IN THE COMMAND LINE.)

EXAMPLES:

	C:\ATTACHW\ATTACHW.EXE SESSION1
	C:\ATTACHW\ATTACHW.EXE /C
	C:\ATTACHW\ATTACHW.EXE /D SESSION1
	C:\ATTACHW\ATTACHW.EXE
	C:\ATTACHW\ATTACHW.EXE SESSION1 /F=readme.txt

Please refer to the ATTACHW.hlp file for more information.

NOTES
--------------------------
THERE IS A SAMPLE SESSION "Shiva.ses" on the setup disk. The sample shows
how to use ATTACHW in conjunction with a Shiva remote dialin connection.
To view; run attachw Configuration, edit sessions then open the
remote.ses session.

If user is running with low memory, to save resources set the session to have
attachw cancel after successful connection. Then you can click on the
disconnect when desired and attachw will reread the connected servers &
match them to the session name to determine which servers to disconnect from,
or all for hangup.

(For Network License Users):
The Administrator can modify the attachw.ini and remote.ses files on the
install disk then distrubute a modified copy of the attachw setup disk.
Then you need only have them modify the icons to get going right away.

You may also include any other session files on the install disk or directory. Setup
will install all additional files into the attachw install directory. If the files
end with a .ses, an icon will be created int the attachw group.

Attachw Launches files, so you may include a Shiva Session file (*.sr) with
the shiva file set to dial at startup. This will start the dial in as soon
as they click the attachw icon w/the *.ses parm. For Shiva; use the
Connectw /d option to auto hangup in the "file to launch if hangup selected".
