         (self-extracting file NB012.EXE in CA-Clipper Forum LIB 15)

  Featuring facilities to:

                   - [Sideline - new in version 1.2] -

    * Store numerous pieces of information ranging from a word or two
to scripts, source code modules, large text files, executables,
archives, images etc as Sub-Topics under equally numerous Topics.
Capacity tested to in excess of 1,400 Sub-Topics with a
compressed data size of more than 3Mb within a single record.
     (See 'Architecture' below.)

    * Identify Sub-Topics by an unlimited number of keywords.

    * Swiftly locate Sub-Topics under any Topic through picklist
      selection based on keyword matching.

   * Locate Sub-Topics which match ALL keywords [or any ONE keyword]
in a group of selected keywords.

    * Compress all such items as they are stored, achieving significant
      savings in disk space.

    * Retrieve directly into YOUR ASCII editor - no need to learn new
      editing commands.

    * Mark one or more Topics (ie all their Sub-Topics) or selected
Sub-Topics from one or more Topics for export as a subset to
another NoteBase file - complete with their keywords -
facilitating team development or group learning while withholding
other entries for reasons of relevance, privacy etc.

   * Mark one or more (etc, as above) for concatinating to an ASCII
disk file headed by their Topic and Sub-Topic titles. Allows
     extremely flexible text outlining.

   * Automatically mark all Sub-Topics matching one or more keywords
for subsequent exporting as a NoteBase file or for concatinating
     to an ASCII disk file.

   * Full file and record locking facilities accessible when
registered for multi-user access on a PC LAN.

  Architecture:

    * NoteBase stores all data in a single database/memofile
      combination. Topics are records, Sub-Topics a multi-dimensional
array in the memofile, each element compressed. Binary files are
also stored in the memofile, compressed wherever a space saving
      can be achieved.

    * As keyword data is also stored in the file combination, indexes
can easily be regenerated if deleted or damaged.

    * Only three products are used - Clipper 5.2d, SixCDX 2.01 and
      ClipHelp 2.51.

   * Operates in Real or Protected mode according to processor and
     memory encountered.

  Possible uses:

    * One or more reference databases for any subject or purpose you
care to think of, offering great scope due to the flexibility in
size and type of entries which can be stored and the unrestricted
number of keywords which can be used to ensure things to be found
      with ease.

    * Storage facility for wide-ranging items such as code snippets,
important CompuServe messages, source code modules, compile and
      link scripts, system configurations, etc.

    * A valuable 'now, WHERE did I see that' hold-all when learning new
      languages or dialects.

    * Great potential as a 'text outliner', with distinct advantages
over the outlining facilities of word processors in many
      circumstances.

  Other facilities:

    * Context-sensitive help throughout.

    * Hotkey reminder lists of available options at each level.

    * Options for shelling, file maintenance etc without needing to
      leave the program.

   * Ability to run NoteBase from any disk or sub-directory and
read/write NoteBase files (or extracts thereof) from/to any other
disk or sub-directory using NoteBase configuration file and
     environmental variable options.

  Other benefits:

    * Achieves significant disk space savings.

    * Low registration fee of only US $29 for a single-user license,
with multi-user network licenses starting at $49 for 2-user
      license.
