DOCUMENTATION
==========================================================
The following documentation is provided in order to assist
you in reviewing this product:
* README.TXT    - (THIS FILE)
* FEATURES.TXT - (Comparison of MS Mail client with Mail Assist)
* MAILAST.HLP - (Windows Help file that shows you how to use it)
* USER.WRI - (MS Write quick overview of how to use the product)
* ADMIN.WRI - (Various extras, including network use)

USING ON A SHARED DIRECTORY OR NETWORK
----------------------------------------------
To install for a shared environment, or to set some
default setting for each user, see the ADMIN.WRI file
for details.

MAIL ASSISTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
---------------------------------------------
1. Decompress this in its own directory or on a diskette
2. Run SETUP.EXE - follow directions
NOTE: If an error occurs where some files are "in use", please
        click on the IGNORE function - this will skip them.

USING MAIL ASSISTANT
---------------------------------------------
Mail assistant can be run either as a replacement shell
for Microsoft Mail or as an "add on". Any way , you will
need to first:

1. Configure the machine for MS Mail for Windows (WFWG/MS Mail 3.0+)
2. Install this software
3. Run the program

If MS Mail.EXE is already running, then mail assist will "tag" along
and share the connection/inbox. If not, it will use its own system.
Note: Mail Assist has the ability "hide" the Mail Icon from you, so
that you do not get confused. Please see the ADMIN.WRI file for more
details.

RESOURCES
----------------------------------------------
Every effort was made to minimize the resource usage
for mail assistant. It will take from 2-5% more resources
than the Mail Client according to our beta testers.

KNOWN PROBLEMS
=======================================================
1. Doing the following produces an erroneous message line
   in the inbox:

   * Remove ALL messages (empty inbox)
   * Click on COMPOSE
   * Abort the new message by closing the window

        This error causes no damage and is fixed if you get any messages
        or if you rescan the inbox.

2. MS Mail icon does not disappear even if command setting is enabled.

        If the HIDEMAIL flag is set to true (see ADMIN.WRI for details),
        then the MSMAIL.EXE window should be hidden. This action will fail,
        and the icon will be visible if the name of the window is not "Mail".
        This may happen if certain messages or windows are open, or if the
        mail program has been renamed.

3. THIS PRODUCT HAS NOT BEEN FULLY TESTED WITH EITHER WINDOWS 95 NOR
   WINDOWS NT. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
        (we ARE trying...)
