CADRE 1.01
CADRE FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS - SHAREWARE

BY
CADRE ANALYTIC
===================================================================

INTRODUCTION: CADRE 1.01 is a Windows 3.1 finite element structural
and dynamic analysis program used for calculating displacements and
loads in static structures, or frequencies and modal vibration shapes
in dynamic structures. This unregistered shareware version is made
available for evaluation purposes only.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

IBM or compatible 386 with 4 megabytes RAM minimum.

IBM or compatible 486 with 8 megabytes RAM recommended.

	MicroSoft Windows 3.1 operation system.

Windows 3.1 compatible Printer with TrueType Fonts

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Since you need to perform the following STEP 1 even before you
can read these instructions, it's of use only for the second
time arround and maybe for historical purposes. The file is a
WinZip Self Extractor and Windows must be running for it to work.

STEP 1:

If you downloaded the file from a service it is named:

		CD101.EXE

From the File Manager in Windows 3.1, execute the file by
clicking on it.

You are offered a default directory (e.g. c:\tempdir) and you can
enter another of your choice. It should an empty directory. It will
be created if it doesn't already exist.

All the CADRE files will be extracted to the temporary
directory.

Note: These files (excluding CD101.exe) could be copied
to a floppy to create a standard setup disk for CADRE.

STEP 2:

Read the text files README.TXT and SHAREWAR.TXT

If you are not in Windows 3.1 you should now go to windows 3.1
and enter the Windows 3.1 Program Manager.

Under the File item on the menu bar select

		Run

In the dialog box enter

	C:\Tempdir\Setup.exe (use your temporary directory)

	and press ENTER.

Follow the instructions presented in the windows for the setup
program.

	UNREGISTERED SERIAL NUMBER is 011111111111
	(a zero with eleven ones)

At the end of the setup routine you should have a
new group in the Program Manager, with an Icon representing
Cadre 1.01.

During setup you may receive a notice such as:

"Unable to copy DDEML.DL_ - file in use".

This is caused when other windows programs are in use. If you
get this message, just press IGNORE because if your using it you
already have it on your system anyway.

At the end of the setup routine you will be asked if you want to
add the extension ".fem" to the association list in your WIN.INI
file. If you choose YES, you will always be able to execute a
".fem" file by clicking on it in the File Manager. You can always
set this up later right from the Windows 3.1 File Manager by choosing
the Associate item under the menu File item.

STEP 3:

You can now delete the temporary directory (C:\Tempdir ) and all
its files after saving CD101.EXE somewhere for safe keeping.

Alternatively, the files in the temporary directory
(excluding CD101.exe) could be copied to a floppy to create a
standard setup disk for CADRE 1.01.

GETTING STARTED:

CADRE creates a CADRE directory and two subdirectories on
installation:

		DYNSAMP
		STATSAMP

Which contain sample finite element models. The file
DYNSAMP contains the files for dynamic vibration models while
STATSAMP contains some static models.

These files can be opened in CADRE and examined, edited,
and solved. However, they are already solved with the
solutions saved in the CADRE file subdirectories. The results can
be reloaded using the item;

	Re-load results

under the Files item on the main menu bar.

The best way to get familiar with CADRE is to go through the
sample exercises in the

	Help - Getting started

file on the main menu bar. This contains 6 exercises to lead
you through examining, creating, and solving both static and
dynamic models.

The help file is extensive, context sensitive, and is intended to
be an online manual for CADRE 1.01.
