                                   Making a Daisy

Here is a simple pattern to make a daisy. This will be
included in the patterns I have included in this book. All
patterns can be printed out with any file viewer program that
excepts pcx programs. Just remember, when printing out the
patterns, when you use them, make sure none of the outline is shown
if you decide to draw it on a piece of wood or paper instead of
using the graph or grid technique. The whole object you are making
should be covered with quill strips. If you make a picture, some
of your picture could be a painting you have created and you might
just fill in certain areas that you want quilled. Just make sure
the object you are quilling is filled the way you want it.
Well now, we are ready to design the daisy. Here is the steps
     to making it.
          1. Daisy, six white strips of quilling paper.
          2. One strip of yellow quilling paper.
          3. One strip of green quilling paper.
          4. Pick or pin for rolling.
          5. Glue.
          6. Optional, six practice strips.
Loose coil for petals, then you pinch them in the shape of
teardrop. Now to get started. Take six strips of paper and make
into loose coil and pinch into teardrop or leaf shape for petals.
Put the leaf coils in a circle. Next, make a loose coil (circle)
out of the yellow strip and place it in the center of the teardrop
petals you have just made. Reposition the petals around the
center. Next, use the one green strip for a stem on the daisy.
Now, glue it all together if you have used the grid method. If you
placed it on your backing already, then glue everything down to
your backing. If you used the grid method, just glue it together
while it is placed on your grid with wax paper, (when you are
making the coils you can glue the coils in the shape you have
achieved, so they don't loose their shape). Now if you glued them
to a backing, you have a picture you can hang up. If you used the
grid method, you can now pick it up and decide if you would like to
make a brooch, or earrings. You would need to get the earring
backs or pin backs to glue to it, at your favorite craft store.
Don't forget to spray your finished product with the clear acrylic
or plastic sealer when you are done. This preserves your piece and
adds a beautiful shine to it.
