			Readme.txt for YELLOW v0.95
			===========================

What is YELLOW:
---------------
YELLOW is a simple, peer-to-peer (serverless) "mail" program,
designed to be used on PC's connected to (almost) any kind of
network.
It can be used for exchanging messages between any no of computers
connected to any kind of network supporting shared filedirectories.

Installation:
-------------
(Please note: the registered version contains a setup and maintenance
program)

YELLOW is distributed as a selfextracting archive, Yellokit.exe.

1) Copy Yellokit.exe to a temporary directory.

2) Run Yellokit.exe.
   This extracts the following files:

YELLOW.EXE - The executable program file
    YELLOW.HLP - The help file
    README.TXT - This file
REGISTER.WRI - Registration form in Windows Write format
    YELLOW.WAV - Default notification sound
    YELLOW.INI - Default INI file
    INSTALL.BAT - Installation bat file

3) Run Install.bat.
   This does the following:

Creates two directories, C:\YELLOW and C:\YELLOW\STORAGE
\Yellow is the program directory, \Yellow\Storage is the local
   message area.

   Moves Yellow.exe to C:\Yellow
   Moves Yellow.hlp to C:\Yellow
   Moves Yellow.wav to C:\Yellow
   Moves Register.wri to C:\Yellow
   Moves Readme.txt to C:\Yellow
   Moves Yellow.ini to C:\Windows

4) SET the DOS enviroment variable USERNAME to your network user id,
   before starting Windows.
(This ID can contain any character, that can be used in a DOS filename,
it must be between 1 and 4 characters long and must not end with a
   digit).
It doesn't HAVE to be your network id, but this makes operation simpler,
since other people may already know this.

5) Edit C:\Windows\Yellow.ini:
The line "Users=", in section [Misc], must contain all involved
user id's, as defined in the DOS environment variable USERNAME on
each user's PC, terminated by a space.

   Example:
Users DON and MICK would give the follwing line:
	USERS="DON MICK "

DON would have this line in his Autoexec.bat:
	SET USERNAME=DON

MICK would have this line in his Autoexec.bat:
	SET USERNAME=MICK

The line "Data=", in section [Paths] must point to a shared directory,
where alle users of YELLOW have Read/Write/Create/Delete access.
This Path must be available BEFORE Windows is started.
