 1. INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the world of frequent fliers.

This computer program is intended to help keep track of the miles that a
traveler accumulates as a member of an airline's travel award program. It is
not affiliated with, or sponsored by, any airline. Although the design of the
Frequent Flier Manager is expected to be compatible with most airline award
programs, this is not guaranteed. The user is cautioned not to make any
personal or travel decisions based on the results obtained from the Frequent
 Flier Manager.

To most efficiently utilize the Frequent Flier Manager, you will need a 100%
IBM/DOS 3.0 (or higher) compatible personal computer, with at least 512K of
memory, a fixed disk drive (designated "C" or "D") with at least 1.2MB of
"free" space, a "floppy" disk drive (designated "A" or "B"), a color monitor
and an Epson or Hewlett Packard Desk Jet compatible printer. FFM will however,
operate effectively in lesser configurations. Additionally, this version of
FFM is expected, although not guaranteed, to operate satisfactorily with
Microsoft Windows, Version 3.1 when the "386 Enhanced" mode is used (386+
 processors only).

All products, services and names, including corresponding abbreviations, used
throughout this manual and within the computer program are trademarks and
service marks of their respective owners.

Before continuing, please carefully read the License Agreement at the end of
this Users Manual. When you first install the Frequent Flier Manager and
enter your Name, you are signifying that you agree with all terms and
 conditions stated therein.

 2. SYSTEM OVERVIEW

 How FFM Works

The Frequent Flier Manager is designed to consider the rules of many airline
programs. It provides the traveler with an overview of travel activity,
accumulated miles and award status. Fundamentally, FFM evaluates air travel
related information provided by the user and predicts the number of miles
which should be credited by an airline to a free travel award program. It
displays these miles, along with the status of achieving a predefined award
level and provides appropriate alerts when awards are nearing expiration.

 The Frequent Flier Manager (FFM) consists of four major interactive Functions;
FLIGHTS, CITIES, REGISTER, AWARDS and SCHEDULES. The FLIGHTS Function keeps
track of each airline flight and partner use; the CITIES Function defines
inter-city distances and partner use mileage credit; the REGISTER Function
 identifies the award and bonus criteria of airline frequent traveler programs;
 the AWARDS Function identifies and monitors the use of received travel awards;
and the SCHEDULES Function provides the capability to import airline schedules
into FFM while using a reservation system. Additionally, there are several
OTHER functions which provide useful auxiliary capabilities.

This manual is divided into individual sections, one for each of these
Functions and one which explains the "alert" messages. Each section will
explain the various display screen formats, the menu selections, the keyboard
interactions and the interpretation of the displayed information.

A powerful feature of the Frequent Flier Manager is it's HELP facility. HELP
is always available for assistance with screen interpretation and keyboard
input and is activated by simply pressing the F8 (Entry and Display Help) or
F9 (Keyboard Help) key at the top or side of your keypad.

 Traveler Record Structure

If you are familiar with the manner in which the DOS names a File, the
following information will provide some insight into how FFM creates and
processes a unique "Traveler Record" for each user of the system. A Traveler
Record consists of 5 or 6 disk files. Five are used by one or more major FFM
Function and one is dedicated to the Dynamic Note Pad. The "names" of each of
these files is constructed in the following manner: Traveler Last Name (first
4 characters) + First and Middle Initials (2 characters) + Travel Year (2
digits) + one of the following extensions: .FT (FLIGHTS), .FTM (CITIES), .FTA
(REGISTER), .FTI (Membership Information), .FTW (AWARDS), or .FTN (Notes). For
example, if the traveler's name was "Jones,WW" and the travel year was 1990,
the file name for the CITIES Function would be: "JONEWW90.FTM". Note: The
Dynamic Note Pad file name does not contain a Travel Year, e.g., it's file
name would be "JONEWW.FTN". The FFM uses two distinct files to predict the
miles to be awarded for a flight or partner use. The first file is not
accessible to you and is not part of a Traveler Record. It contains the coded
identity and distances between approximately 2000 major city pairs and is
known as the "Global Inter-City Distance File".

 _____________________________________________________________________________2
 2: System Overview
 ______________________________________________________________________________

The second file is unique to each Traveler Record and has the name extension
.FTM. This file is known as the "Local Inter-City Distance File" and is used
to identify cities which are not contained in the Global Inter-City Distance
File, airline partners (Hotels, etc.) and any special bonuses for travel
between two specific cities. Additionally, FFM uses two Default Files,
FFDEFC.FF and FFDEFA.FF. File name FFDEFC.FF contains a few example city
pairs and corresponding distances which are not contained in the Global
Inter-City File. FFDEFA.FF contains frequent traveler program specifics
(i.e., award and bonus criteria, etc.) for all major U.S. airlines and a few
foreign carriers. Anytime you create a new Traveler Record, you will be given
the option of selecting these default files as a starting point. You may in
the future change the contents of these special files by copying (DOS "Copy"
Command) a Traveler Record file ?.FTA to FFDEFA.FF and ?.FTM to FFDEFC.FF. A
Traveler Record can be created to contain either a single year of flight/
partner information, called an Annual format, or multiple years of
information, called a Multi-Year format. The advantage of the Multi-Year
format is that you can view several years of travel history within a single
Traveler Record. Consider Multi-Year format, if the traveler plans less than
 100 flights/partner uses per year.

 Operating the Displays

The Frequent Flier Manager always produces the FLIGHTS Function Display each
time you start the program. To transfer to other Functions, see below
("Operating the Menu's"). To move around a Display use the following keys :
Up/Down Arrow moves the Red Arrow Cursor up and down the Display one line
(entry) at a time. PgUp/PgDn moves the Cursor up and down seven lines at a
time (a full screen). Home moves the Cursor to the first item of the currently
viewed screen. Ctrl Home moves the Cursor to the first item in the entire
list. End moves the Cursor to the last item of the currently viewed screen.
Ctrl End moves the Cursor to the last item in the list.

 Operating the Menus

The Frequent Flier Manager is controlled by a series of menus. The Main FFM
Menu is used to select a major Function (refer to Page 2). Additionally, each
major Function has it's own unique Menu which will permit you to add, change
and delete information, manipulate information and print reports. To activate
the FFM Main Menu, or the primary menu of any Function, press the F1 key. A
line of items will appear across the top of the screen. To select one, either
move the red highlight box to the desired item using the left and right arrow
keys, then press Enter, or simply press the first letter of the item (e.g.,
[A] for AWARDS). For some selected items, a window will appear offering a
"secondary menu" with additional selection possibilities. Move the highlighted
Black Bar up or down the secondary menu using the arrow keys until it is
positioned over the desired item, then press Enter. Optionally you may select
an item by simply pressing the number or letter shown adjacent to it. To
return to the primary menu without making a selection press the Esc key. To
leave the Main FFM Menu or a Function's primary menu and return to general
display viewing, also press the Esc key. NOTE: You cannot simultaneously
activate a menu and operate a display.

 Quick Keys (Fx)

A list of "Quick Keys" is shown at the bottom of each major Function's
Display. These keys are designated F1 through F10 and appear either at the top
or side of your computer's keyboard. "Quick Keys" will provide you with
immediate access to frequently used Functions, without having to use a menu
and to the FFM "Help" library. For example, pressing the F6 key on the FLIGHTS
Display is identical to pressing the F1 key (Menu), selecting "OTHER", then
selecting "Notes" (The Dynamic Note Pad) from the secondary menu.

 Exiting From the FFM

To end a Frequent Flier Manager session you must be viewing the Flights
Function. Either press the F10 key (rapid exit), or press F1 (Main Menu),
 select [F]LIGHTS, then press [Q].

 3. GETTING STARTED

 >>>> Installing FFM on Your Computer

The FFM program, which you received on either one or two installation disks
(based on the version number), or you downloaded from an authorized Bulletin
Board, must first be "installed" according to one of the following processes
 before it can be used:

 >>> Installing FFM From Installation Disks

Insert Installation Disk #1 into the appropriate drive on your computer ("A"
or "B" only), then type [X:] and press the Enter key, where "X" is either A or
 B. Next type [INSTALL] and press the Enter key. A window will appear
 requesting the following information:

 a. Name - Enter your name in the standard FFM format (Last,FMI).

 b. Source Drive - Enter the letter of the disk drive which currently contains
FFM Installation Disk #1 (A or B only).

 c. Destination Drive - Enter the letter of the disk drive onto which you want
to install FFM (C or D only). A unique directory (\FFM) will be prepared and
all files from the installation disk/s will be unpacked and transferred into
 this directory.

 >>> Installing FFM After "Downloading" From a Communications System

After downloading FFM from an authorized Bulletin Board onto your Hard Disk
(required), select the directory which contains the downloaded FFM programs
(unless it is already selected), by using the DOS [CD ?] command. Then, type
[INSTALL] and Press the Enter Key. A window will appear. Enter the following:

 a. Name - Enter your name in the standard FFM format (Last,FMI).

 b. Source Drive - Enter the letter of the HARD disk drive which currently
contains the downloaded FFM programs (C or D only). FFM will automatically
 determine the correct directory name.

 c. Destination Drive - Enter the letter of the HARD disk drive onto which you
want to install FFM (C or D only). A unique directory (FFM) will be prepared
and all files from the downloaded FFM programs will be transferred into this
directory. In most cases Source and Destination Drive letter will be the same.

Note: Pressing the ESC key during steps a, b, or c above, or leaving the Name
entry blank, will cause the installation to be terminated. To restart, type
[INSTALL] again from your main DOS directory on the Destination Drive (C or
D). WARNING ! If you are using a "Trial Version" of FFM, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
 REINSTALL FROM THE INSTALLATION DISK/S.

After the installation process is completed a message will be displayed.
That's all there is to it ! Each time you wish to then use FFM, simply type
[FFM] from your main DOS directory.

 _____________________________________________________________________________5
 3: Getting Started
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>> Initializing FFM

After installation is completed, FFM must be initialized with some basic
information before it can be used to enter actual travel activity. This
information includes your Name and Travel Year, defaults for automatic record
loading each time the FFM is started and defaults for frequently used airline
 and city codes.

You can either start the Initialization process immediately after installing
FFM, or at any time later, by typing [FFM] from your DOS prompt.

You will then be taken on a "tour" of the various displays and shown some
fundamental keyboard input requirements. After the tour is completed, the
following sequence of events will occur.

 >> Adding the First Traveler Record

The FLIGHTS Display will appear with the window ADD A NEW TRAVELER RECORD.
You'll need to provide the information described in the section, "Create a
New Traveler Record", which begins on Page 12. This information must include
the name and year you wish associated with this first Traveler Record and
whether you want it to contain one or multiple years of travel activity. You
may also need to enter certain information regarding the award criteria of
your airline program/s and the identification of any existing unused awards
 and unawarded miles.

 >> System Defaults

The window SYSTEM DEFAULTS will then appear (refer to Page 37). Type the
"TRAVELER NAME" (Last,FMI) of the travel record that you wish automatically
loaded and displayed each time you start the system, then type the "TRAVEL
YEAR" of this record. If you wish this to be your record, the information
would be the same as that entered when you established the Record (see Page
6). Next, type [Y]es if you wish to have FFM provide a "RECORD BACKUP" of any
traveler record deleted in the future. This feature will enable you to rescue
an inadvertently deleted record. Backup records are saved on disk with the
extension x.FFxB. Next, type [Y]es if you wish to hear the audible portion of
prompts and alerts. Type [N]o if you do not. Next, enter [F]ast if you wish to
have your display screen updated very rapidly, similar to a camera shutter, or
[S]low if you prefer a "waterfall" effect. Next, you may select 1 of 3 color
plans for your display; [D] - Color on a Black Background (the default),
[B] - Color on a Blue Background or [N] - No Colors (Black & White). Finally,
you will need to select either an Epson or Hewlett Packard printer type, or
no printer. If "no printer type" is selected, you will not be able print
flight or schedule information. If you've done everything right so far, a
window will now appear with the message, "INITIALIZATION SUCCESSFUL".
Followed by a window, which asks you to press either key F1 or F10.
Press F1 to begin adding flights or partner uses (refer to the section
beginning on Page 9), or to just browse the various Displays.
Press F10 to leave the FFM.

 5. THE FLIGHTS FUNCTION

The principal Function and the one you will use most frequently is "FLIGHTS".
This is where you will enter each flight and each airline Partner use (an
airline Partner is a company - another airline, a hotel, a rental car agency,
etc., which provides you with award miles for the use of their facility in
conjunction with an airline/s frequent traveler program). This version of the
FFM will permit you to maintain a maximum of 400 flights/partner uses per
Traveler Record. The FLIGHTS Display looks like this

 _____________________________________________________________________________8
 5: The Flights Function
 ______________________________________________________________________________

Note the information at the top of the screen. "Traveler" is the name of the
frequent traveler entered when this record was created. "Airline" is the
identifier of the airline associated with the currently displayed status
information. "19XX Total Miles" is the total estimated credited miles,
including all bonus miles, for all entered flights/partner uses shown on the
display for the year 19XX and does not include previously deleted items (Note:
If the Traveler Record currently displayed is in Annual format, this is the
Travel Year specified when the record was created, otherwise this is current
year). "XXXX Base Miles" is the total base miles (excluding all bonus miles)
accumulated since 1/1/19XX if a Base Miles Goal has NOT been entered, or since
the Start Date, if a Base Miles Goal has been previously entered (refer to
Page 23). "Total Miles to Award" indicates the Total miles (including all
bonus miles) necessary to attain the next free flight award from Airline.
"Miles to Total Goal" indicates the Total miles (including all bonus miles)
required to attain your personal award goal from Airline. "Miles to Base Goal"
indicates the base miles (excluding all bonus miles) required to attain your
personal goal from Airline. "Flts. to Segment Goal" represents the number of
flight segments required to attain your personal segment award goal. Date is
today. "AWARD EXPIRY" is an example of informational messages which are
provided by the system for your disposition. Refer to the section beginning on
page 50 for an explanation of these messages. The display is divided into a
single line for each airline flight or airline partner use. Each line contains
the following information : "Travel Date", which is the actual date of flight
or of airline partner use. "Airline Code" is the identifier of the frequent
flier airline which will be charged for these travel miles. "Flight No. or
Partner" is either of the following : If the travel was directly on the
frequent flier airline, this is the Flight Number; if travel was on a partner
airline, this is the Flight Number and the Partner Airline Code; if these
miles are for the use of a non-airline partner, this is the Partner Name.
"Class" is the actual service class used for the flight. "From City" is the
official designator of the Departure City. "To/Use City" is the official
designator of the Destination City or of the non-airline partner Use city.
"Miles" is the computed miles predicted to be credited by the Airline for this
travel or partner use and includes all bonuses currently registered with the
Frequent Flier Manager. "Status" indicates OPEN if the flight or partner use
miles have not been credited to your account in a periodic frequent flier
airline report. CLOSE indicates the miles have been credited.

Selecting "FLIGHTS" from the Main Menu will produce a "secondary menu" with
 the following items.

 >>>> ADD - Add a Single Flight or Partner Use

Select this item to add one new flight or partner use to your record. After
selection, a window will appear on the FLIGHTS display screen. Enter the
 following information :

 a. Travel Date - The date on which you actually traveled, or the date you used
a Partner facility. Dates must be in one of the following formats for All FFM
 entries: Month-Day-Year or Month/Day/Year (e.g., 7-15-90, 11/3/90, 07-04-90,
 1/1/91, etc.).

 _____________________________________________________________________________9
 5: Add a Flight/Partner Use
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 b. Airline Code - The two character official identifier of the frequent flier
airline which will be charged for the miles associated with this entry. This
code may not necessarily be the same as the actual airline flown, if a partner
airline was used, e.g., you may actually have flown on BA (a UA Partner), but
the credited miles (and this entry) are to your UA frequent traveler account.
This is an important principal which must be clearly understood in order to
 effectively use the FFM.

 c. Flight # / Partner - If this was an airline flight (as opposed to a
nonairline partner use): The 6 (or less) digit number of the flight used if
the airline flown and the airline charged is the same. The 6 digit number of
the flight used followed by a / and the two character official identifier of
the partner airline, if a partner airline was used (e.g., 1234/BA, 2/QF,
123456/LH are correct forms). If this was a non-airline partner use : The 11
character (or less) name of the partner (e.g., AVIS, MARRIOTT, etc.).

 d. Class - The single character code of the class of service used on this
flight (e.g., P, F, Y, Q, etc.). Note: You may also use the pseudocode [X]
as a special class to be associated with a unique airline bonus (refer to Page
25). This entry is bypassed if a non-airline partner was used.

 e. Departure City - The three character official designation of the airport
From which the flight departed (e.g., ORD ).

 f. Destination/Use City - The three character official designation of the
airport To which the flight was destined or in whose corresponding city the
non-airline partner Use Facility is located.

The system will compute and display the expected Total miles to be credited
for this flight/use. If FFM is unable to locate the distances between the two
cities in the Local or Global Inter-City Distance File (refer to Page 17), a
window will appear requesting this information. Enter the 6 digit (or less)
actual distance between the two cities or the miles to be credited for the
partner use. This information will be automatically added to your Local
Inter-City Distance File and thereafter need never be entered again.

If a Segment Goal was entered for this Airline and the segment goal Start Date
(refer to Page 23) is the same or earlier than this flight's Travel Date
(refer to Page 9a.), a window will appear requesting confirmation to include
this flight as a segment toward the attainment of Segment Goal. Respond [Y]es
or [N]o. Note: Non-airline Partner Use entries are NOT counted as a flight
segment, regardless of their Travel Date.

 >>>> ADD - Add Multiple Flights/Partner Uses

Select this item to add more that one flight/use to your record during a
single session. All entries are identical to ADD a Single Flight/ Partner Use,
except that after each flight/use entry is completed, FFM will ask if you wish
to add another flight/use, or leave the Add process. Respond accordingly.

 ____________________________________________________________________________10
 5: Add and Offset/Search-Change-Delete a Flight
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> ADD - Add an Offset/Flight (Manual Miles)

Select this item if you wish to add to or subtract from an airline's currently
accumulated Total or Base Miles (Offset), or you wish to Add a specific Flight
but you DO NOT want FFM to compute the Miles. If this item is selected, FFM
will NOT evaluate the validity of any entry, except Travel Date and Airline,
nor will it store the entered cities/partner in your Local Inter-City Distance
file. Entries are identical to "ADD a Single Flight/Partner Use" (refer to
Page 9), except that two small windows will appear after the Destination/Use
City entry with a request to "Enter Total Miles" and to "Enter Base Miles".
Enter the miles you wish added to either the Total Miles or Base Miles (or
both) for this airline. FFM will NOT add any Bonuses to these entered Miles
and will assume they have NOT yet been included in a recorded award.

To force a balance between a Traveler Record and an airline report, due to
flights/partner uses not previously entered and now not individually
identifiable or other report disparities, type [OFFSET] when prompted for the
"Flight #/Partner" entry. You will then not be required to enter a Departure
or Destination City. The two small windows described previously will then
appear. Enter either a positive number (e.g., [2000]) or a negative number
(e.g., [-2000]) to add or subtract from this airline's Total Miles and/or Base
 Miles.

Note: In both of the above cases, you will be given the opportunity to include
this entry as one flight segment, if a Segment Goal had been established and
the entered Travel Date is consistent with the segment goal Start Date (refer
 to Page 23).

 >>>> SEARCH - Find a Flight or Partner Use

Select this item to search for a previously entered flight or partner use.
After selection, a window will appear with several search possibilities.

Using the same form as described starting on Page 9, enter the information for
one or more items. To leave an item blank, press the Enter key without typing
anything. For example, if you only wanted to search for ALL departure, leave
the other three entries blank. If you only wanted to search for departure
cities with a specific destination (TO) city, enter both cities.

 >>>> CHANGE - Change a Flight or Partner Use

Select this item to change a previously entered flight or partner use. Make
sure the Cursor is positioned over the flight/partner use before selecting.
The entry window described beginning on Page 9 (Add a Single Flight or Partner
Use) will appear and will contain all information previously entered. Edit
this information as appropriate. Note : You may never change the Airline Code.
If it was originally entered incorrectly, delete and re-enter the flight.

 >>>> DELETE - Delete a Flight or Partner Use

Select this item to permanently delete a previously entered flight/partner.
Make sure the Cursor is positioned next to the to-be-deleted flight/partner
before selection. Note: this may affect Goal and/or Award status.

 ____________________________________________________________________________11
5: Retrieve a Record from Disk/Create a New Traveler Record
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> RETRIEVE - Get a Traveler Record from Disk

Select this item to view an existing Traveler Record currently stored on disk.
Enter the Last Name, FMI and the FIRST Travel Year for a Multi-Year formatted
Record or the Travel Year for an Annual formatted Record. If the record is not
on the default disk drive, an appropriate message will be displayed.

 >>>> CREATE - Create a New Traveler Record

As a result of the FFM Initialization process, you had created a single (1)
Traveler Record. To create additional Records, select this item. A window will
appear. Enter the following information :

 a. Traveler Name - Enter the 16 character or less name of the traveler to be
associated with this new Record, in the form LAST NAME, FIRST and MIDDLE
 INITIAL, e.g., [JONES,WW].

 b. Multi-Year Format - Enter [Y]es if you want this new Record to contain
flights/partner uses for more than a single year. Otherwise, enter [N]o. Refer
to Page 2 for a description of Record formats.

 c. Annual Format - Enter [Y]es if you want this new Record to contain
flights/partner uses for a single year only. Otherwise, enter [N]o. If you
select the Annual format, you will only be able to enter (ADD) flights/partner
uses with a Travel Date year which is the same or earlier than the First
 Travel Year of this Record.

 d. First Travel Year - If you selected the Multi-Year format for this Record,
enter the First Year you plan to start recording flights/ partner uses (this
will more than likely be the current year). If you selected the Annual Format,
enter the Year you wish associated with ALL to-be-recorded flights/partner
uses (this will also more than likely be the current year). You MUST remember
the Year entered here in order to RETRIEVE this Record in the future.
After all information has been entered, two windows will appear with the
questions: "Use Default City Pairs?" and "Use Default Airlines?". If you want
to start this new Traveler Record with some FFM predefined city pair distances
for your Local Inter-City Distance File or the default registered airlines
(refer to descriptions of the file names FFDEFC.FF and FFDEFA.FF on Page 3,
enter [Y]es. You can change any of this default information later. If this is
the first Record being created, the selection of Default Airlines is
 automatic.

A window will now appear requesting the entry of defaults to be used uniquely
with this new Traveler Record. Refer to Page 38.

 >>> Re-Register an Airline

The REGISTER Display will then appear. If you elected to use the default
registered airlines, they will be displayed with the message "Review Default
Airlines - Then Press Enter". Using the appropriate keys, scan the list up and
down to determine if it contains an airline with whom you are an active
frequent traveler program member and have accumulated miles.

 ____________________________________________________________________________12
5: Create a New Traveler Record
 ______________________________________________________________________________

Remember the Airline Code, then press the Enter key. A window will then appear
with the question "Re-Register an Airline ?". If you identified an airline
during the scan, you must enter [Y]es and perform the following steps:

A window will appear requesting the name of the airline. Enter the two
 character identifier.

The entry window to "CHANGE AWARD/BONUS CRITERIA" will appear showing all
default information for the selected airline. Follow the instructions to
"Register A New Airline", beginning on Page 22, and edit any information which
is incorrect. Additionally, you will need to provide the total miles and the
total unawarded miles (if any) accumulated with this airline.

 >>> Add an Unused Award

This special entry is provided for the traveler who is starting with several
Unused/Unexpired awards and does not wish to later enter any of the individual
flights or partner uses which produced them (refer to Page 9). Do Not enter
"Segment" awards at this time - wait until after the Record has been created.
A window with the question "Add an Unused Award ?" will then appear. Enter
[Y]es if you wish to enter any awards of this type for this registered
airline; otherwise enter [N]o. If you responded "Yes", the AWARDS Display will
appear with the entry window "ADD AN AWARD". Refer to Page 29 and enter the
award. IMPORTANT!! The miles associated with Awards entered here ARE assumed
to have been included as part of the "Total Miles" entry when the airline was
 Registered (refer to Page 23).

After each award entry is completed, a window will appear with the question:
"Add Another Award ?". Enter [Y]es if you have additional awards to enter from
this airline, or [N]o if all have been entered.

The scanning process previously described will then be repeated. Review the
list again and if appropriate, repeat the previous process for another
airline. A window then appears with the question "Register a New Airline ?"

 >>> Register A New Airline

If you did not elect to use the default registered airlines, or you are a
member of an airline's program which is not listed in the defaults, enter
[Y]es. The entry window to "ADD AN AIRLINE" will then be displayed. Follow
the instructions to "Register a New Airline", beginning on Page 22. The
process previously described in to "Add an Unused Award" will then be
presented. Enter all appropriate awards for this newly registered airline. A
window will then appear with the question "Register A New Airline ?". If you
wish to register another NEW airline, enter [Y]es and repeat the process.

 5: Erase a Traveler Record/Reconcile with Report/Sort/Print Flights
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> ERASE - Erase a Traveler Record from Disk

To delete an existing Traveler Record from disk, select this item. If the
"backup" option was selected during the entry/re-entry of System Defaults
(refer to Page 37), the Record will not be permanently deleted from disk but
will be made incompatible with FFM, by modification of it's FLIGHTS file name
extension from FT to FTB (refer to Page 2 - "Traveler Record Structure").
To recover this record, use the appropriate DOS command to return the
extension to "FT" (delete the "B"). If the backup option was NOT selected,
the record will be permanently deleted. WARNING! DO NOT delete a Traveler
Record using either the DOS "Erase" or "Delete" commands.

 >>>> RECONCILE - Reconcile with Airline Report

Select this item to reconcile each previous FFM flight/partner use entry
with the content of an airline's periodic frequent traveler status report.
A moving window will appear atop each flight/partner use entry in the record
which currently indicates "OPEN" as Status. Enter [C]lose if the entry is
contained in the airline report and the credited miles are equivalent to the
displayed miles. Enter [F]ix if the entry is contained in the airline status
report and the displayed miles are incorrect. Enter [O]pen if the entry is
NOT contained in the status report.

If you selected "Fix", a supplemental window will appear. Enter both the
corrected Base miles and Total miles (including all bonuses). This will
produce the identical results described on Page 11 - "Add an Offset/Flight
(Manual Miles)". Note: Some airline's use intercity distances which vary
slightly from FFM's DOT tables. If you plan to travel frequently between
these cities on the same airline, you can enter them and the appropriate
distance into your Local Inter-City Distance file (refer to Page 17 - "ADD
a City Pair"), thereby bypassing FFM's default distance for travel on ALL
airlines between these cities. To establish an intercity Distance which will
replace FFM's default distance for a specific airline only, define an Inter-
City Bonus (refer to Page 18), with a Bonus equal to the difference between
the airline's distance and FFM's distance.

The process will end if you press the Esc key or all OPEN entries have been
 examined.

 >>>> SORT - Sort Flights and Partner Uses

To reorder the way flights/partners are being displayed, or will be printed,
select this item. A window will appear showing the different ordering
possibilities for several headings of the FLIGHTS Display. Type an [X] in the
box next to the desired selection, then press Enter. For example, if you
entered an "X" next to TRAVEL DATE, all flights/partner uses would be placed
in descending order by Travel Date. If you entered an "X" next to A/L -
FLIGHT NO, all flights/partner uses would first be ordered by Airline and
then each Flight Number would be ordered (ascending) within each airline.

 >>>> PRINT - Print all Flights/Partner Uses

To print a formatted representation of the FLIGHTS Display on any Epson
compatible printer, select this item. All flight/partner use activity
contained in the current record will be printed. Follow screen prompts. The
system will perform various checks to confirm the availability of a printer
and inform you accordingly. To produce a centered image, ensure that you place
the printer paper at top of form before selecting PRINT.

If you desire to arrange the order in which the items are printed, respond
[Y]es to the question "SORT BEFORE PRINTING ?", when displayed, then proceed
as described previously (SORT). Note: If you wish to print the status of an
airline other than the one currently displayed, you must select the "STATUS"
Function (refer to Page 39) before selecting PRINT. Also, ensure that you had
previously selected an appropriate printer type (refer to Page 37).

 6: The Cities Function
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 6. THE CITIES FUNCTION

An important principal of the Frequent Flier Manager is the way in which it
predicts the number of miles for each entered flight/partner use. When FFM
looks for the distance between the FROM (Departure) and TO (Destination) City
of a newly entered Flight or Partner Use, it FIRST looks at your Local
Inter-City Distance File. If it can't find the city pair, it then looks to the
Global Inter-City Distance File (refer to Page 2). Once the distance is
determined, FFM adds all appropriate bonuses.

The CITIES Display looks like this

********** REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE SCREEN DISPLAY **********

6: Add a City Pair or Partner
 _____________________________________________________________________________

Note that the information at the top of the screen is identical to the FLIGHTS
Display. The remainder of the display contains a single line for describing a
city pair (Departure/ Destination City) or non-airline Partner. Each line
contains the following information : City 1/Partner Name is the identifier of
one city's airport of a city pair (departure city or a destination city) OR it
is the name of an non-airline Partner, such as a rental car company or hotel.
City 2/Use City is either the identifier of the second city's airport of the
city pair OR the airport of the city in which the Partner is located. Actual
Distance is only applicable for a city pair (i.e., not a Partner) and
represents the actual one way distance between City 1 and City 2. Bonus Miles
are either the extra credited miles, in addition to Actual Distance, for
travel between City 1 and City 2 OR they represent the miles to be credited
for the use of the Partner. Expiry Date is the actual date on which the Bonus
Miles expire. Applicable Airlines are the identifiers of the airlines which
credit their frequent travelers with these Bonus Miles. Trips represent either
the total number of trips between the city pair or the total number of partner
uses in the Use City, during the Traveler Record year/s. To activate the menu
for the CITIES Function, press the F1 key. The following items will appear at
 the top of the Display.

 ADD-SEARCH-CHANGE-DELETE-OTHER-RETURN

 >>>> ADD

To add a new pair of cities, a non-airline partner, or an inter-city bonus,
select this item. The following secondary menu will appear:

 >>> ADD a City Pair or Partner

There are two methods for entering either a City Pair distance or non-airline
Partner Use miles to your unique Local Inter-City Distance File (refer to Page
3). The first was explained on Page 9 (Add a Flight or Partner Use). The
second method is to select this item. Note: If your airline has identified a
special bonus for travel between two specific cities, these cities must be
entered here, even if they are already contained in the Global Inter-City
Distance File. After selection, a window will appear. Enter the following :

 a. City 1 - If this is Not a Partner entry, the 3 character official code of
the first city airport of this city pair. The order in which you enter a city
pair makes no difference to the FFM. If this IS a Partner entry, press the
Enter key only (without typing anything).

 b. Partner Name - If you skipped City 1 above, the 11 character (or less) name
of this non-airline Partner (e.g., HERTZ, MARRIOTT, etc.). DO NOT enter
airline Partners (i.e., Other Airlines) here (refer to Page 10, item c).

 c. City 2/Use City - The 3 character official code of the second city airport
of this city pair, if this is a city pair entry. If this is a Partner entry,
the airport code of the city in which the Partner is located. If you wish to
apply this Partner entry to all cities, enter [ALL]. Note: If the Partner is
located in a city which does not have an airport identifier, any unique code
which you can easily remember is acceptable (e.g., [WLT] for Waltham, MA).

 ____________________________________________________________________________17
 6: Add Multiple Cities/Add InterCity Bonus/Search
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 d. Distance - If the FFM is able to locate the distance between the city pair
in the Global Inter-City Distance File, it will display it. Either accept this
distance, modify it, or if none was displayed, enter the actual ONE WAY
distance in miles (maximum 5 digits) between the two cities. If the correct
distance was displayed and this is not an entry to define a promotional
inter-city Bonus you should Delete this city pair later to save space.

 e. Bonus - The special promotional miles (maximum 4 digits) which will be
added to "Distance" for travel between this city pair, OR the miles which will
be awarded for this Partner use (if this was a Partner entry). You may enter
EITHER the actual Bonus Miles OR a percentage of Distance (item d.). For
example you may enter [1000] to identify a 1000 miles bonus between this city
pair or you may enter a number followed by a % sign (e.g., [50%],[100%],
[200%], etc.. would identify the bonus to be this percentage of the actual
inter-city Distance). Note: 50% would equal 1/2 of the miles; 100% would equal
double miles, 200% would equal triple miles, etc.. You may also enter a
negative number (e.g., [-35],[-15]) for Bonus Miles if you wish the Distance
accepted or entered in item d. to be REDUCED for travel between the city pair.
Refer to Page 14 ("RECONCILE"). For example, if you entered [-15] here, all
future flights between this city pair for the Airline/s entered in item g.
would have their distance reduced by 15 miles.

 f. Expiration - The expiration date of the Bonus (if this is a Partner entry,
this is the date on which the Partner - frequent flier airline program
expires). [Month/Day/Year]. If you press Enter only, 12/31/Current Year will
 be assumed.

 g. Airlines - Enter the 2 character official identifier for each airline which
participates in the partner or city pair Bonus. You may enter a maximum of 3
airlines separated by a comma (e.g., [NW,AA,UA], etc.). If you wish to apply
the Bonus to all airlines, enter [ALL].

 >>> ADD Multiple City Pairs or Partners

Select this item to add more that one City Pair or Partner to your record
during a single session. All entries are identical to those described for
"Single Add" (Page 17), except that after each city pair/partner entry is
completed, FFM will display a window asking if you want to either add another
 or leave the Add process.

 >>> ADD an Inter-City BONUS

Select this item to add an airline established special promotional inter-city
bonus to an existing City Pair. Position the Cursor next to the appropriate
cities before selection. A window will appear containing the current
(previously entered) information for the selected cities. Enter the Bonus,
Expiration Date and Airlines as described in items e,f,g above.

 >>>> SEARCH - Find a City Pair or Partner

Select this item to search for a previously entered City Pair or Partner.
After selection, a window will appear with search possibilities for City 1,
Partner, or City 2/Use City. Enter the information for one or more items.

 6: Change/Delete InterCity-Partner/Bonus/Other Functions
 ______________________________________________________________________________

To leave an item blank, press the Enter key without typing anything. For
example, if you only wanted to search for ALL City 1's with the name PHL,
leave the other two entries blank. If you wanted to search for a City 1 with
the name PHL and a City 2 with the name LAX, enter both. FFM will find a city
pair regardless of the order of search entry.

 >>>> CHANGE - Change Inter-City or Partner Bonus

Select this item to change previously entered City Pair/Partner Bonus
information. Make sure the Cursor is positioned next to the correct City Pair
 or Partner BEFORE selecting.

The entry window described beginning on Page 17 (Add a City Pair or Partner)
will appear and will contain all information previously entered.

Edit the information pertaining to BONUS, EXPIRATION DATE and APPLICABLE
AIRLINES. Note : You may never "change" the CITY1/PARTNER, CITY2 or MILES
data. If you wish to do this, Delete the entire City Pair/Partner and reenter.

 >>>> DELETE

Selecting this item will produce the following secondary menu:

 >> Delete an Inter-City BONUS

Select this item to delete a previously entered Bonus at the current Cursor
position. This deletion includes the information associated with Bonus,
Expiration Date and Applicable Airlines only.

 >> Delete a City Pair or Partner

Select this item to delete the entire previous entry of a City Pair/Partner.
Make sure the Cursor is positioned next to the correct City Pair or Partner
before selection. If you delete a city pair or partner which was previously
used for a flight/partner use entry, there will be no effect to the associated
 predicted miles.

 >>>> OTHER

Selecting this item will produce a secondary menu with the following options :

 >>> DISTANCE - View Inter-City Distances

Select this item to view the distance between two cities. A window will

 7: THE REGISTER FUNCTION
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 7. THE REGISTER FUNCTION

Each airline on which you plan to travel and are also a frequent traveler
program member Must be registered with this Function before any activity
pertaining to it is entered into the FLIGHTS Function.

The REGISTER Display looks like this

********** REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE SCREEN DISPLAY **********
********** OR TAKE THE "DISPLAY TOUR" (see Page 40) **********

Note that the information at the top of the screen is identical to the FLIGHTS
Display. The remainder of the Display contains a single line which describes
each airline's basic free flight award and bonus criteria. Each line contains
the following information : Airline is the official identifier of the
registered airline. Award Level is the minimum number of miles required to
attain the first free flight award. Total Mi. Goal is the number of miles
(including all bonus miles) required to achieve a personal goal. Base Mi. Goal
is the number of miles (excluding any bonus miles) required to achieve a
personal goal. Sgmt. Goal is the number of flight segments required to achieve
a personal goal. Minimum Miles is the minimum number of miles credited to your
account for a flight, regardless of the actual inter-city distance. Class
Bonus is the special bonus percentage added to an inter-city distance for
travel in premium class. Global Bonus is the special bonus percentage added
to all airline travel, which occurs during a specific period of time. Total
Miles is the total miles ever recorded in FFM with this airline and includes
both current and prior Record year activity.

 7: Register A New Airline
 ______________________________________________________________________________

To produce the menu for the REGISTER Function, press the F1 key. The following
items will appear at the top of the Display.

 ADD-SEARCH-CHANGE-DELETE-OTHER-RETURN

 >>>> ADD

To register a new airline or add a Global Bonus to an existing one, select
this item. A secondary menu will be displayed with the following options :

 >>> REGISTER a New Airline

To register a new airline with the FFM, select this item. A window will
appear. Enter the following information from the keyboard :

 a. Airline Code - The 2 character official Identifier for this frequent
traveler airline [e.g., AA, TW, etc.].

 b. Award Level - The 5 digit or less Miles required to attain either of the
 following :

Mileage Certificate If this airline issues one or more award certificates each
time you accumulate a certain number of miles, this entry is the value (miles)
of those certificates (e.g., if this airline issues award certificates every
30000 miles, this entry would be 30000).

Travel Certificate If this airline only issues an award certificate based on
your request for a specific number of accumulated miles, this entry is that
number of miles (e.g., if you plan to request a certificate after 60000 miles,
this number would be 60000). To best measure the relative merits of individual
airline programs, this value should ideally be the number of miles required to
attain a common award (e.g. a free, unrestricted, round trip domestic ticket).

 c. Total Miles Goal - The 6 digit or less Total Miles (including all bonus
miles) required under this airlines's program to attain your personal travel
goal. This goal is typically used to measure the achievement of multiple
travel awards, for example, [120000] for a free First Class flight to Asia,
etc.. This entry must be a number greater than or the same as "Award Level".

 d. Total Miles Goal Start Date - The Date (Month/Day/Year) on which you wish
FFM to START accumulating miles toward the attainment of the Total Miles Goal.

 e. Total Miles Accrued (From Start) - The 6 digit or less Total Miles
(INCLUDING all bonus miles), which you have accumulated since the Total Miles
Goal Start Date (refer to item c. above) AND which you do not plan to EVER
enter as individual flights. Enter 0 (zero) if none. NOTE: This entry must be
a portion of Total Miles For All Years (refer to Page 25, item y.).

 f. Total Unawarded Miles - The 6 digit or less number is the total of all
UNAWARDED Miles (i.e., miles attained, but not yet included in a received
award), which you do not plan to EVER enter (ADD) as individual flights or
partner uses. This entry should include all bonus miles.

 ____________________________________________________________________________22
 7: Register a New Airline
 ______________________________________________________________________________

An example of this would be a situation where your records indicate that you
have accumulated 12,000 miles toward your "next award", however you are unable
to establish specific flights or partner uses associated with this number (and
therefore cannot later enter them individually into FFM). You would enter
[12000] here and never enter the associated individual activity. Note: Once
this value is entered it may never be changed. If it is incorrect, the airline
must be completely deleted and re-registered. Total Unawarded Miles is
automatically updated and maintained by FFM whenever New Year or Optimize is
selected (refer to Pages 40 & 41) and may appear as a meaningless number when
displayed during the viewing or changing process (refer to Page 26).

 g. Base Miles Goal - The 6 digit or less Base Miles required under this
airlines's program to attain your personal travel goal. This goal is typically
used to measure the attainment of special high volume travel levels within an
airline's program, such as "Priority Gold", "XXXXXXX", etc. and represents the
actual miles flown, EXCLUDING any class or special inter-city bonuses.

 h. Base Miles Goal Start Date - The Date (Month/Day/Year) on which you wish
FFM to START accumulating miles toward the attainment of the Base Miles Goal.

 i. Base Miles Accrued (From Start) - The 6 digit or less Base Miles (EXCLUDING
any bonus miles), which you have accumulated since the Base Miles Goal Start
Date (refer to item h. above) AND which you do not plan to EVER enter as
 individual flights.

 j. Flight Segment Goal - The 2 digit or less number of flight segments
required under this airline's program to attain your personal goal. Flight
segment award programs are typically promotional and are implemented annually
for a specific period of time. FFM assumes that one flight entry (refer to
Page 9) equals one segment. Note: Non-airline "Partner Use" entries are NOT
 counted as a flight segment.

 k. Flight Segment Goal Start Date - The Date (Month/Day/Year) on which you
wish FFM to START accumulating flights toward the attainment of the Flight
Segment Goal. Flight entries (refer to Page 9), which have a Travel Date on or
after this date will be counted toward a Segment Goal.

 l. Minimum Miles Criteria - The following four entries enable you to identify
two separate credit criteria for minimum miles, based on either Flight
Distance or the Class of service used. A small window will appear over the
entry table. Move the UP or DOWN ARROW keys to highlight the appropriate
criteria for this airline (Flight Distance or Service Class) and press Enter.

 m. Min. Mi. - Based on the criteria selected in item l, enter the 4 digit or
less minimum guaranteed One-Way Miles which are credited by this airline for
travel in the Classes, or for travel less than or equal to the Distance,
identified in item n. For example, if this entry were [750] and "Service
Class" was selected as the criteria, and a flight in Class 'Q" between two
cities resulted in a distance of 600 miles (one-way) and item n. below was
entered as [FCBMQ], 750 miles would be credited by this airline. If the
"Flight Distance" criteria was selected in item l. and this entry was [750]
and [750] was also entered in item n., all flights with a distance of less
than or equal to 750 miles, would be credited with 750 Base Miles.

 ____________________________________________________________________________23
 7: Register a New Airline
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 n. Classes / <=Distance - Based on the criteria selected in item l., enter
either the single character identifier of each class of service (maximum of 5)
which is to be associated with the Minimum Miles entered in item m. OR enter a
Distance (5 or less digits). If Classes of Service is the selected criteria
and this entry is [ALL], all Classes of Service, EXCEPT those identified in
item p. will be associated with the minimum miles entered in item m.

 o. Min. Mi. - Based on the criteria selected in item l, enter either a second
Minimum Miles, or the same Minimum Miles as entered in item m.

 p. Classes / >Distance - Based on the information provided for item o., enter
a second group of Classes, or a second Distance. If you enter a second
Distance, all flights with a distance GREATER than the second Minimum Miles
(item o), BUT LESS THAN this entry, will be credited with the second Minimum
Miles (item o). Entering [ALL] for Classes will produce the second Minimum
Miles (item o) credit for ALL classes of service, EXCEPT those identified in
 item n.

Note: Items n. and p. (Classes) cannot contain any of the same Class
 identifiers.

The following is an example of the use of items l through p.

If you selected "SERVICE CLASS" as the Minimum Miles criteria (refer to item
l.) and the following four items (m,n,o and p) contained the entries
[750]/[FCYMK] [1000]/[AU], all flights in Classes FCYM and K, which have a
distance of less than 750 miles would be credited with 750 miles and all
flights in Classes A and U, which have a distance less than 1000 miles, would
be credited with 1000 miles. The entries [750]/[ALL] [1000]/[AU] would credit
flights in Classes A and U, which have a distance of less than 1000 miles,
with 1000 miles and ALL other flights, which have a distance of less than 750
miles, with 750 miles. For airlines which have a single minimum mile credit
(e.g., 750 miles are credited to any flight, regardless of the class of
service, when the one way distance is less than or equal to 750 miles),
entries for items m. and o. and items n. and p. are identical. When the entry
option "ALL" is not used, only flights which are in one of the identified
Classes will receive Minimum Miles credit.

If you selected "FLIGHT DISTANCE" as the Minimum Miles criteria (refer to item
l.) and the following four items (m,n,o and p) contained the entries
[750]/[750] [1000]/[750], all flights with a distance less than or equal to
750 miles would be credited with 750 miles and all flights with a distance
greater than 750 miles (but less than 1000 miles) would be credited with 1000
miles. All other flights would be credited with the actual flight distance. If
the entry "ALL" is used, e.g., [750]/[ALL], all flights with a distance of
less than or equal to 750 miles will be credited with 750 miles.

 q. After you have entered the minimum miles criteria, a small window will
appear over the entry table with the question: "Use Minimum Miles to Determine
Base Miles, When Appropriate". Enter [N] (or press Enter without typing
anything) if this airline DOES NOT apply the minimum miles criteria entered in
items l. through p. to the BASE Miles calculation (i.e., Base Miles is actual
flight distance, regardless of the miles), enter [Y] otherwise.

 7: Register a New Airline
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 r. Reduce Miles % - The 3 digit percentage (0-100) of a flight's actual
distance which will be REDUCED if traveling in one of the Classes identified
in item s.. This item is intended for those programs which credit your
account with LESS than 100% of a flight's actual miles, when travel is in one
of the heavily discounted fare classes.

For example, if this entry were [50] and the entry for item s. was [QVL], a
flight in Class V, with a one-way distance of 1000 miles, would be credited
with 500 miles (1000 x .5). NOTE: FFM does NOT apply Minimum Miles (refer to
items l. through p.) to a flight with reduced credited miles.

 s. Classes - The single character identifier of each Class of service (maximum
of 5) which will receive the offset identified in item r. Classes NOT
identified here are credited with the full (100%) miles.

 t. F/P Bonus - If this airline adds a bonus to the basic mileage between any
two cities when you travel in either "P" (International First) or "F"
(Domestic First) Class, enter that percentage here (0 - 999).

 u. C/J Bonus - If this airline adds a bonus to the basic mileage between any
two cities when you travel in either "J" (International Business) or "C"
(Domestic Business) Class, enter that percentage here (0 - 100).

 v. X Bonus - If this airline adds a bonus to the basic mileage between any two
cities when you travel in a Class other that P,F,J or C, enter that percentage
here (0 - 999). For example, if this airline used Class "R", you could enter
the "R" class bonus here and enter an [X] for CLASS when entering the flight
(see Page 9). NOTE: Unlike F/P/C/J bonuses, entering a [0] here will result
in zero credit miles for a flight, if this class is used. If unused, leave
the entry blank. A [0] "X" class entry can be used to denote a free flight.

 w. Global Bonus - If this airline provides a special bonus for All classes of
air travel during a certain period of time, enter that percentage here
(0 - 999). The effective date of the Bonus is the date of this entry. An
example of a Global Bonus could be an annual bonus applied to all air travel
by an airline after a program member attains a certain number of miles.

 x. Global Bonus Expiration Date - The date (Month/Day/Year - e.g., [4/5/89],
[12/14/89], etc.) on which the Global Bonus expires. If you press the Enter
key only, 12/31/Current Year will be assumed. After this date, FFM will no
longer add the Global Bonus to a Flight's miles.

 y. Total Miles For All Years - A small window will appear over the entry
table. Enter the 7 digit or less total miles accumulated to date for All years
of travel or partner use with this airline, including the current year. This
entry is automatically updated by the FFM each time that you add or delete a
flight/partner use and is displayed as TOTAL MILES. DO NOT include any miles
in this Total for Flights or Partner Uses which you plan to individually add
in the future (refer to Page 9). Note: This number must be equal to or LARGER
than either the Total Miles Accrued or Base Miles Accrued entries.

Items a. through f. and y. are required entries. If you have no accumulated
miles in these categories, enter a zero [0].

 8: AWARDS FUNCTION
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 8. AWARDS FUNCTION

Each award that you receive from an airline should be listed with this
Function. The AWARDS Function will keep track of the usage status and
expiration status of all entered awards and alert you appropriately if an
 award is about to expire.

The AWARDS Display looks like this

********** REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE SCREEN DISPLAY **********
********** OR TAKE THE "DISPLAY TOUR" (see Page 40) **********

Note that the information at the top of the screen is identical to the FLIGHTS
Display, except that the Miles to Next Award is replaced with Total Unused
Awards. This is done to provide you with an indication of the number of miles
still available for free travel as "unused" awards.

 ____________________________________________________________________________28
 8: Add A Mileage/Segment Award
 ______________________________________________________________________________

The remainder of the Display contains a single line for each Award with the
following information : Airline is the identifier of the airline which issued
the award; Miles is the "value" of the award; Issue Date is the date the award
was either issued or the date received; Expiry Date is the date on which the
award will no longer be valid; Comments is any general information or plans.

To produce the menu for the AWARDS Function, press the F1 key. The following
items will appear at the top of the Display.

 ADD-SEARCH-CHANGE-DELETE-OTHER-RETURN

 >>>> ADD

To add a newly received award, select this item. A secondary menu will be
displayed with the following options :

 >>> MILEAGE - ADD a New Mileage Award

To add an award which is associated with the accumulation of a certain number
of miles, select this item. A window will appear. Enter the following
 information :

 a. Airline Code - The 2 character official identifier of the airline which
issued this award (e.g. AA, TW, NW, etc.).

 b. Award Level - The 6 digit or less number which represents the "value" of
this award certificate in miles. If this airline does not issue award
certificates, this entry is equal to the miles which were required to acquire
a free flight ticket. For example, if this airline does not provide award
level certificates, but instead simply reduces your unawarded miles by the
"value" of a free flight ticket (once you've acquired it), this entry is that
 value in miles.

 c. Issue Date - The date (Mo/Da/Yr) of issue of this certificate, or the free
ticket associated with non-certificate awards. If there is no issue date on
the certificate, enter the date you received it.

 d. Expiration Date - The date (Month/Day/Year) on which the award certificate
expires, or the expiration date of the ticket associated with a
 non-certificate award.

 e. Comments - You may enter up to 28 characters of unformatted comments
regarding this certificate/ticket, such as intended use, combining plans with
 other certificates, etc..

 >>> SEGMENT - ADD a New Segment Award

To add an award which is associated with the attainment of a certain number of
flights, select this item. This type of award is typically aligned with a
periodic airline travel promotion. Segment awards do not affect accumulated
Miles or Award Level/Goal predictions, however, FFM does monitor their
expiration dates. A basic assumption is that these awards are NOT combinable
with mileage awards. Enter the following information from the keyboard :

 ____________________________________________________________________________29
 8: Search/Change/Mark an Award Used
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 a. Airline Code - The 2 character official identifier of the airline which
issued this award (e.g. AA, TW, NW, etc.).

 b. Issue Date - The date (Month/Day/Year) of issue of this award certificate.
If there is no issue date on the certificate, enter the date you received it.

 c. Expiration Date - The date (Month/Day/Year) on which the award expires.

 d. Comments - You may enter up to 28 characters of unformatted comments which
describe your plans for this award certificate.

FFM displays the identifier "=SEG=" in the Awarded Miles column of each
 Segment award.

 >>>> SEARCH - Find an Existing Award

To find a specific award, or group of awards, select this item. A window will
appear. Enter either one or both of the following :

 a. Airline - Enter the 2 character identifier of an award issuing airline
 e.g., [AA, UA, TW, etc.].

 b. Issue Date - Enter the issue date (Month/Day/Year) of the certificate/s or
 ticket/s you wish to locate.

If you only enter the Airline and not the Issue Date, all awards for the
entered airline will be located and displayed. If you enter the Issue Date and
not the Airline, all awards with the issue date will be located and displayed,
regardless of the issuing airline. If you enter both, only awards satisfying
 both criteria will be displayed.

 >>>> CHANGE

To either change an existing award, or to mark an existing award "used",
select this item. A secondary menu will appear with the following options :

 >>> Change an Award

Select this item to change a previously entered award. Position the Cursor
next to the appropriate award before selecting. The entry window described on
Page 29 ("Add a New Mileage Award") will appear and will contain all
information previously entered. Change one or more items using the keyboard.
Press the Esc key when done.

 >>> Mark an Award as USED

Select this item to identify that a previously entered award has been USED.
Position the Cursor next to the appropriate award before selecting. FFM will
display the identifier **USED** in place of Expiry Date for the selected
award. You are permitted to reinstate a previously "marked" award, by
selecting CHANGE and entering an Expiration Date. Marking an award is an
important aspect of the FFM process. To ensure accurate status information,
you should mark awards shortly after use.

 ____________________________________________________________________________30
 8: Delete an Award
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> DELETE - Delete an Award

When you have used an award DO NOT delete it, instead Mark it "USED" (refer
to Page 30). Select this item ONLY to delete an award which was previously
entered improperly. Note: If you delete an award WHICH WAS ENTERED WHILE
CREATING A NEW TRAVELER RECORD (refer to Page 12), the displayed value of
"Miles to Award Goal" will be increased by the value (miles) of the deleted
 award.

 9: Airline Schedules
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 9. THE SCHEDULE FUNCTION

The Schedule Function transfers airline schedules from your computer's display
screen to FFM and displays previously transferred schedules. This version of
the FFM will permit you to transfer (import) and maintain a maximum of 448
 airline flights, including connections.

The SCHEDULE Display looks like this

********** REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE SCREEN DISPLAY **********
********** OR TAKE THE "DISPLAY TOUR" (see Page 40) **********

Note that the information at the top of the screen is identical to the FLIGHTS
Display. The remainder of the display contains a single line for each flight
or connecting flight with the following information: FLIGHT DATE is the
departure date from the originating city (departure date is replaced with the
word "connect" to denote a connecting flight); AIRLINE CODE is the airline
identifier associated with this flight; FLIGHT NUMBER is the registered number
associated with this flight; STOPS is the number of stops made enroute,
excluding connections and the destination; FROM CITY is the departure city of
a direct or connecting; TO CITY is the destination city of a direct or a
connecting flight; DEPART is the scheduled time for departure of either a
direct or connecting flight; ARRIVE is the scheduled arrival time in a
connecting or terminal point city; EQUIP. is the planned aircraft type. To
produce the menu for the SCHEDULE Function, press the F1 key. The following
items will appear at the top of the Display.

 ____________________________________________________________________________32
 9: Import Airline Schedules
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 IMPORT-SEARCH-CONF-DELETE-OTHER-RETURN

 >>>> IMPORT - Start/Stop the Schedule Transfer Process

To initiate or terminate an importing process, select this item. FFM will only
import information from your display screen which is in the exact format of
the Eaasy Sabre (c) or Worldspan (c) (PARS (c)) airline reservation systems
(refer to Attachment 1 for required formats). These systems are accessible on
Compuserve (c), GENIE (c), NVN (c) and several other public communications
networks. Currently FFM CANNOT import schedules from graphics based systems,
such as Prodigy (c) and AmericaOnLine (c).

NOTE: It is required that the communications software, which interfaces with
your reservation system, be in the main DOS Path so that it can be located.
Having it in the same directory as FFM is not required, AS LONG AS YOUR
COMMUNICATIONS SOFTWARE DIRECTORY IS DEFINED IN A DOS "PATH" COMMAND WITHIN
THE AUTOEXEC.BAT FILE (e.g., [PATH C:\;C:\DOS;C:\COMM;etc.], where "COMM" is
the name of your communications software directory). Typically, this would
previously have been done during installation of the communications software.

If it is not possible to do this then you must modify or create an XXXX.BAT
(Name is immaterial) file and place it in your main DOS directory. This BAT
file must contain at least the following commands :

CD\ZZ (Change to directory ZZ - the location of your communications software).

YYYYY (Execute your communications software - (YYYYY) is the name of your
 communications software )

COPY \ZZZZZ\SCHED.FFS \FFM (After exiting from your communications software
(i.e., Importing), copy the special FFM Import File "SCHED.FFS" from your
communications software directory to the FFM directory)

DEL \ZZZZZ\SCHED.FFS (Deletes "SCHED.FFS" from your communications directory)

CD\ (Change to the main Dos Directory)

FFM (Execute FFM, select SCHEDULES to complete Import and view the results.)

After selecting IMPORT, the following secondary menu will appear:

 >>> START - Start Schedule Importing - ES Format

If you wish to begin importing airline schedules which are in the formats
depicted in Attachment 1 (ES Format 1 or Format 2), select this item.
Note: You MUST select the "Flight Reservations and Availability" item
(NOT "Flight Schedules") from the ES on-line Menu, after connection.

 >>> START - Start Schedule Importing - WS Format

If you wish to begin importing airline schedules which are in the formats
depicted in Attachment 1 (WS Format 1 or Format 2), select this item.

 ____________________________________________________________________________33
 9: End a Schedule Import/Search Schedules
 ______________________________________________________________________________

After selection of either of the above, a confirmation prompt will appear. If
you wish to continue (importing) enter [Y]es. A background processor will then
be activated and the main FFM program will be terminated. Start your
communications software from the appropriate DOS path Directory by typing its
name (just as you would normally do) or type the name of the previously
discussed "XXXX.BAT" file in your main DOS directory. Then interface with an
appropriate airline schedule system. As you interface and identify flights of
interest which appear on your display screen (i.e,. those you would like to
save for later viewing), press the ALT and period [.] keys simultaneously.
Note: Don't press these import keys while the screen data is moving. Each time
that you do this, all flights currently displayed on your screen will be
imported (up to a maximum of 448 per session) if they match the format of
Attachment 1. If a screen import is successful, FFM will display a rapid
confirmation; otherwise, an error message will appear. WARNING: Do Not
attempt to Import a flight schedule which contains MORE than two connecting
flights, i.e., the Originating City, two Connecting Cities and the Destination
City, or unpredictable results may occur. When you have completed importing
and have disconnected from your communications software, start FFM, and select
SCHEDULE from the main FFM menu. You MUST then select "IMPORT - END" in order
to complete the formatting and display process (Note: FFM will usually
automatically select this menu item after an importing session is completed).

 >>> END - End Previously Started Importing

This item MUST be selected after any previous selection of IMPORT - START,
even if you did not transfer any flights to FFM from your display.

After selection, the imported flights will be translated into a special, easy
to read FFM format and displayed. The cursor will always point to the first
flight of a newly imported group. FFM does NOT erase previously imported
flights when a new group of imports arrives. Instead it appends the new ones
onto the end of the old ones. You may accumulate a maximum of 448 imported
flights (including connections) with this version of FFM, after which some
 will need to be deleted.

 >>>> SEARCH - Find a Flight or Group of Flights

To search for a specific flight, or group of similar flights, select this
item. A window will appear with the following items. Enter information for one
 or more items.

 a. Travel Date - Enter the Date of the Flight/s you wish to find in the
format: DATEMONTH. For example, if you wish to search for all flights which
DEPART on September 20th, enter [20SEP]. Note: MONTH must be one of the
 following: JAN,FEB,MAR,APR,MAY,JUN,JUL,AUG,SEP,OCT,NOV,DEC.

 b. Departure Time - Enter a Time of Departure of the Flight/s you wish to find
within a 1 hour window in the format: TIMEA/P. For example, to search for all
flights which DEPART between 8AM and 9AM, enter [830A]; to search for all
flights which depart between 1130AM and 1230PM, enter [1200P], etc..

 c. "FROM" City - Enter the 3 character official code of the originating city
from which you wish to find one or more flights (e.g., PHL,JFK,LON,etc.).
Note: For connecting flights, ensure that you enter the FIRST Departure City,
 NOT a connecting city.

 d. "TO" City - Enter the 3 character official code of the Destination City to
which you wish to find one or more flights (e.g., ORD,LAX,JFK,etc.). Note: For
connecting flights, ensure that you enter the FINAL Destination CIty code
 here, NOT a connecting city.

FFM will highlight each found flight matching ALL entered search criteria.

 >>>> CONFIG - View Examples of Aircraft Seating Configurations

Select this item to view examples of seating plans for the airline and
aircraft at the current cursor position. Refer to Page 42 ("SEATING") for a
detailed description of this function. NOTE: These seating plans are internal
to FFM and have NOT been provided by your reservation system during the Import
 process.

 >>>> DELETE - Permanently Delete Previously Imported Flight/s

 >>> SINGLE - Delete a Single Flight or a Connecting Group

To permanently delete a single flight or a group of connecting flights, first
place the arrow cursor over the first (i.e., the originating flight) or only
flight to be erased, then select this item. Respond accordingly to the
confirmation message. When you select the first flight (originating flight) in
a multiple connection group, FFM will automatically delete the originating
 flight and all connecting flights.

 >>> COMPLETE - Delete ALL Previously Imported Flights

To permanently delete ALL previously imported flights and start with the
ability to import 448 new ones, select this item. NOTE: ALL flights will be
permanently erased. Respond accordingly to the confirmation message.

 >>> MOVE - Move a Flight to a Different Position in the List

Select this item to move a flight (including all of it's connections) from
it's current position in the displayed list to a different position. This
function would be typically used to place flights of similar interest in close
proximity to each other. Before selection, place the cursor arrow next to the
direct flight, or the first flight in a series of connecting flights, to be
moved. After the confirmation prompt, move the cursor to the new position in
the list (i.e., the position of an existing flight where you want the selected
flight/s moved above), then press the ENTER key.

 10. OTHER FUNCTIONS

In addition to the major Functions selectible from the Main FFM Menu, several
supporting Functions are also available. Selecting "OTHER" will produce a
secondary menu with the following items :

 >>>> DEFAULTS - View/Change SYSTEM Defaults

Select this item if you wish to change the System Defaults which you initially
entered during the FFM Initialization process. System Defaults are used by the
FFM to automatically establish a desired "initial operating environment" each
time you start the system. After selection, a window will appear containing
the current status of each of the following seven System Defaults. Either
leave them unchanged, or modify one or more appropriately. When done, a window
will appear requesting a disposition of the changes made. Enter an [S] to
Save, or an [E] to not save (the changes).

 a. Traveler Name - The 16 character or less Name (Last Name, FMI), of the
Traveler Record you wish FFM to automatically retrieve each time you start the
 system.

 b. Traveler Year - The 4 digit Year (e.g., [1990]) associated with Traveler
 Name.

 c. Record Backup - Enter [Y]es if you wish the system to provide a "backup"
for deleted Traveler Records (refer to page 14 for an explanation of the
backup process). Enter [N]o if you wish all deletions to be permanent. The
Record Backup default is always preset to "Y"es each time you start FFM.
Resetting it to "N"o will only affect the current session.

 d. Sounds On - Enter [Y]es if you wish to hear all prompt and alert audible
sounds from FFM. Enter [N]o if you wish all sounds turned off. Remember that
if you turn off sounds ("No"), you could miss seeing a momentary alert
 message.

 e. Display - Enter [F]ast if you prefer a camera shutter type display and
[S]low if you prefer a waterfall type display. You should experiment with this
 option until satisfied.

 f. Screen Colors - Enter [D] if you prefer to view the default colors, which
are a Black background with multiple color foreground. Enter [B] is you prefer
a Blue background with multiple color foreground. If you desire a totally
Black and White display, enter [N]. Note: If you are using a monochrome
display (either B&W, Amber or Green), as is common with laptop computers, you
should select "N" for best results, even though a color based selection may
initially seem satisfactory. FFM automatically sets the screen colors to
either the default colors or total Black and White, based on your display
type, when you first start the Initialization process (refer to Page 6).

 g. Printer Type - Enter [0] if you DO NOT have a printer attached to the LPT1
connector on your computer, or if the attached printer is NOT Epson or Hewlett
Packard (HP) compatible. Enter [1] if the attached printer is Epson
compatible. Enter [2] if the attached printer is HP compatible.

 10: Traveler Defaults
 ______________________________________________________________________________

Note: If have a printer attached which is neither Epson or HP compatible, and
you don't care about the formality of the report, you might try selecting [1]
anyway. This will likely produce a report with some offset/missing headings
and borders, but the actual flights or schedules should print correctly.

 >>>> DEFAULTS - View/Change TRAVELER Defaults

Select this item to add, or change the existing, Defaults associated with the
currently displayed Record. After selection, a window will appear containing
the current status of each of the four Traveler Defaults. If this is a new
Traveler Record, all items will be blank (refer to Page 12). Either leave them
unchanged, or modify one or more items appropriately. Traveler Defaults are
used by FFM in a manner similar to System Defaults, except that they establish
a unique operating environment for each Traveler Record. Each Default may be
used as a substitute for actually typing a corresponding keyboard entry, such
as the Departure City when adding a Flight (refer to Page 9). For example, if
this traveler most frequently departs from "JFK", enter [JFK] as the Departure
City Default. When done, enter an [S] to save or an [E] to not save (the
 changes).

 a. Departure City - The 3 character official code for the city which you wish
defined as this Record's default Departure City.

 b. Destination City - The 3 character official code for the city which you
wish defined as this Record's default Departure City.

 c. Airline Code - The 2 character official code of the airline you wish
defined as this Traveler Record's default airline.

 d. Class of Service - The single character code of the class you wish defined
as this Traveler Record's default Service Class (F,C,Y,Q,etc.).

 >>>> GRAPH - View a Graph of Monthly Activity

To graphically display the monthly miles accumulated with a specific airline
program in a particular travel year, select this item. A window will appear.
Enter the appropriate Travel Year and Airline Code.If you press the Enter key
only for Travel Year, the current year will be used for Multi-Format Record's
and the Traveler Record Year will be used for Annual Records. If you enter
[ALL] for Travel Year, all years in the currently displayed Multi-Year Format
Traveler Record will be displayed. Note: The presentation of ALL years Does
Not included flights/partner uses contained in prior year or optimized Records
(refer to Pages 40 & 41). If you wish to see all miles ever recorded in FFM
for an airline, select the REGISTER Function and observe the Total Miles
column of the appropriate airline. A full screen graph will appear depicting
the monthly accumulation of miles for all travel (flights + partner use) which
occurred with the requested airline. Press the F10 key to return to the
 FLIGHTS Display.

 10: Change Status/Notes/Sounds
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> STATUS - Change Status Display Criteria

To change the basis for the information shown at the top of each Function's
Display, select this item. Follow the identical instructions as described for
GRAPH and provide the Travel Year and Airline you wish associated with the
values displayed. If you enter [ALL] for Travel Year, all years in the
currently displayed Multi-Year Format Traveler Record PLUS the Total Miles
Accrued and Base Miles Accrued (which were entered when the airline was
Registered - refer to Page 22) will be displayed. The presentation of ALL
years also includes the miles associated with Closed flights/partner uses
which were deleted during the Start New Year or Optimize processes (refer to
Pages 40 & 41). If you wish to automatically cycle through the status of each
registered airline, enter the Year and then press the F5 key continuously
until all airlines have been reviewed. To stop the cycling process, press the
Enter key. Note: If a Base Miles Goal is currently established, the display
of BASE MILES will remain associated with the Goal Start Date (refer to Page
23), regardless of the Travel Year selected.

 >>>> NOTES - Read or Write a Note

The Dynamic Note Pad enables you to jot down important facts concerning your
travel activities, such as overdue awards, incorrect mileage credits,
communications with the airlines, impressions of airlines/partners, etc..
To use the Note Pad, select this item.

A "note pad" window will appear, along with a supplemental window depicting
the various keyboard commands uniquely available with this function. If this
was your first use of the Note Pad, the window will be blank; otherwise it
will contain all previously entered information. To select a command, either
press the appropriate F key or simultaneously hold down the Alt key and type
the appropriate letter. You may add, insert, or delete characters and lines or
move/delete blocks of text by using the commands indicated. To ADD a new item
press the F4 key. This will start a "clean" block in the next available page
area with today's date stamped on top (a Page is all the text you can see
within the Note Pad window). You can then enter the appropriate text. Most of
your computer's control keys are operational with the Note Pad (e.g.,Ins,
Del, PgDn/Up etc.). The maximum number of pages available is 10. When you
begin to exceed this amount, a warning will be displayed, suggesting deletion
of old items. Press F10 to save your changes or F8 to disregard them.

 >>>> SOUNDS - Turn ON/OFF Audible Sounds

To turn on or off all audible prompt and alert sounds, select this item. The
current status of "sounds" is shown in the menu title for this selection. If
sounds are OFF, after selection sounds will be turned ON. If ON, sounds will
be turned OFF. This selection will remain intact between uses of FFM.

 >>>> INITIALIZATION - Initialize the System

To reinitialize the FFM system, select this item and follow the instructions
beginning on Page 6 (Initializing FFM). Initialization should only be selected
if the first attempt failed or if you have not used the FFM for a long time
and wish to start again from scratch.

 ____________________________________________________________________________39
 10: Initialize/Tour/Space/Start New Year
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> TOUR - Take the Display Tour

Select this item to either refresh your memory concerning the FFM display
formats, or to indoctrinate new users. Follow screen prompts.

 >>>> SPACE - Show Available Space

To view the number of new flights/partner uses you can add to the FLIGHTS
Function before achieving system capacity, select this item. You should
periodically select "SPACE" for each Traveler Record. If the remaining space
is relatively small, consider selecting "OPTIMIZE" (refer to Page 41) if this
 is a Multi-Year Formatted Record.

 >>>> NEW YEAR - Start a New Travel Year

Select this item if you wish to start a new year for a currently displayed
Record. You MUST use the following procedures at the beginning of each new
year for every Traveler Record created in the Annual Format (A message will be
 displayed if you forget).

 a) After selection, a window will appear requesting confirmation; enter [Y]es.

 b) Another window will then appear with the suggested year for the new Record.
Press the Enter key alone (i.e., don't type anything) if you agree with the
displayed year, or enter the appropriate 4 digit number of another year. The
entered year would normally be the approaching or already arrived new year.

 c) A window will appear with the question: "Delete All Non-Goal Conflicting
Closed Flights and Used Awards ?". Enter [Y]es if you DO NOT want the current
Traveler Record flights and partner uses which are "Close"d and all awards
which are marked "Used" transferred to the new record, otherwise enter [N]o.
Note: Only Closed flights which have a Travel Date EARLIER than ANY currently
set Goal Start Date (refer to Pages 22 & 23), will be deleted. The normal
selection for this entry would be [Y]es, however neither selection will affect
the display of status information. WARNING : If you selected the same Year for
the new Traveler Record as the superceded Record (which would typically occur
if you exceeded 400 flights/uses/Travel Year), the superceded Record will be
permanently replaced and all deleted flights/uses and awards will be lost for
display purposes, even though overall status will be accurately maintained.

FFM will then create a new Traveler Record, based on the entered Year and
transfer all, or the appropriate flights and awards to it. The new Travel
Record name will be identical to the superceded one, except for the "Travel
Year" component (see Page 2 - "Traveler Record Structure").

Records which have been superceded will be maintained intact and can be
recalled for display at any time in the future, however they cannot be
modified in any way. If you had selected NEW YEAR or OPTIMIZE before all prior
year activity was entered into the Record, you may still enter these
flights/partner uses into the newly established Traveler Record.

After completion of NEW YEAR/OPTIMIZE, you should change the System Default
"Traveler Year", if appropriate (refer to Page 37).

 ____________________________________________________________________________40
 10: Optimize a Record/Inter-City Distances/Inter-Computer Transfer
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >>>> OPTIMIZE - Optimize a Traveler Record

Select this item if you wish to optimize a currently displayed Traveler
Record, which was created in either the Multi-Year Format or the Annual
Format. You would typically do this when you are nearing the capacity limits
of the FFM system (400 flights/ partner uses) or to eliminate unnecessary
CLOSED flights/partner uses and all USED awards. After selection, a window
will appear requesting confirmation; enter [Y]es. If you are attempting to
optimize a Multi-Year Formatted Traveler Record, a window will then appear,
suggesting that you scan through the list of flights (using the
arrow/pgup/pgdn keys, etc.) to determine the First year for the new
(optimized) Travel Record. This can be either a prior year, the current year
or any future year. When you have finished the examination, press the Enter
key and use the procedures described for START NEW YEAR, items b) through d).

 >>>> DISTANCE - Display Inter-City Distances

To view the distance between any two cities, select this item. Refer to Page
 19 for a further description.

 >>>> TRANSFER - Move to Another Computer

Select this item to move your current FFM environment from one computer to
another, via flexible disk. This Function will cause you to exit from FFM.
IMPORTANT: Before selecting "Transfer" for the first time, you must create a
formatted 720K flexible blank disk with the label [1FFM]. You can do this by
using the DOS command [FORMAT A:(or B:)/F:720/V:1FFM], or [LABEL A:(or B:)
1FFM] if you already have a blank 720K formatted disk. Each time thereafter,
you may either use this same disk (it only needs to be blank for the first
use), or format and label a new one.

Insert the formatted disk [1FFM] into an appropriate drive ("A" or"B"). You
will then need to provide the same information described beginning on Page 5
("Installing FFM From Installation Disks"), except that now "Source" and
"Destination" disk drive letters may be either A,B,C or D. Next, you will be
presented with the option to have FFM automatically transfer up to nine
Traveler Records and/or all Airline Seating Plans and/or all previously
imported Airline Schedules from "Source" to "Destination". The following is an
example of the use of this Function to transfer information from a fixed disk
desk top computer to a fixed disk lap top computer or via versa: 1) Insert
your formatted disk [1FFM] into Drive A or B of the computer you are
transferring From ("Source"). 2) Select this Function ("OTHER/TRANSFER") on
that same computer and respond to all prompts with the appropriate information
 and actions.

Note: If you wish to transfer Traveler Records, carefully re-read the section
"Traveler Record Structure" on Page 2, since the information displayed for
your transfer decision during this process is the actual file name (e.g.,
"JACKWW90" for "JACKSON,WW" with a First Travel Year of "1990"). 3) After FFM
completes the environment transfer to your flexible disk [1FFM], move to the
"Destination" computer and insert this same disk [1FFM] into drive A or B. 4)
Start FFM on the Destination computer. 5) Select this function again.

 6) Enter the disk drive letter used in #3 above in response to the "Source"
Drive prompt. 7) Enter the disk drive letter of the Destination computer's
hard drive ("C" or "D"), in response to the "Destination" Drive prompt.
 8) Transfer the same Traveler Records, Airline Seating Plans and imported
 Schedules selected in #2 above.

 >>>> SEATING - View Examples of Aircraft Seating Plans

Selecting this item will first produce a window containing several airline
identifier codes. Enter an [X] next to the airline whose seating arrangements
you wish to view and press the Enter key. Next a window will will appear with
the selected airline's aircraft types (747, 757, etc.). Enter an [X] next to
the desired type and press the Enter key. Aircraft types which are not
available for selection are illustrated as dimmed menu items. selected. The
selected seating diagram will then appear on the screen. Press any of the
 following keys to proceed :

 >>> Symbols

Press the F3 key to select a favored seating location. When a window appears,
enter your desired seat number, exactly as it is depicted on the seating
diagram (e.g., 23C, 4J, U2, 234, etc.), then press the Enter key. The selected
seat will blink until you "deselect" it in the same manner as just explained.
Selections will be automatically retained between uses of the FFM. In very
large aircraft (e.g., 747s), some typically less desirable seats are not shown
on the display. You may select/deselect up to two of these seats (assuming you
personally know the seat number) in the same manner as just explained. The
selected seat numbers will be displayed in the upper right corner of the
 aircraft seating diagram.

 >>> Next Configuration

Press the F5 key to display another configuration of the same aircraft. If
one is available, it will replace the current configuration, otherwise a
message will be displayed. Care should be taken to ensure that seat
preference selections (F3) are associated with the correct configuration of
 multi-configured aircraft.

 >>> Select Aircraft

Press the F8 key to select another aircraft type.

 >>>> CITY CODES - Translate City Names - Airport Codes

To determine the name or airport code/s for a specific city, select this
item. Either enter a CITY NAME or portion thereof (first line entry), or an
AiRPorT CODE (second line entry). Do not use a period or hyphen in a CITY
NAME (e.g., enter [ST JOHNS], instead of [ST. JOHN'S]).

 11: Error Messages
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 11. ALERT MESSAGES

The Frequent Flier Manager will display an alert message if it detects an
abnormal occurrence, an important event, or an approaching limit. These
messages are divided into three general categories; ERRORS, WARNINGS AND
INFORMATIONAL. Error situations must be corrected by the user immediately.
Warnings should cause the user to take some action to avoid a potential future
error or misleading status. Informational provides notification of an event
occurrence and typically requires no action. Error and Warning messages can
occur at any location on the display. Informational messages will typically
occur in a special area near the top right corner of the display.

 >>>> ERROR MESSAGES

 >> "AIRLINE EXISTS" The airline which you have attempted to Register (ADD),
has previously been registered. The FFM positions the display and sets the
Cursor next to the existing airline. If you wish to change any existing award
levels, bonuses or the Total Miles, select "CHANGE" from the Register menu. If
you wish to change the Unawarded Miles, "DELETE" the existing airline and then
 select "ADD" to Re-Register it.

 >> "AIRLINE MUST BE LISTED BEFORE AWARD ENTRY" You have attempted to add a new
award for an airline which has not been Registered. Verify the airline which
issued the award with your Airline Code entry (refer to Page 29) and correct
if appropriate, or Register the airline (refer to Page 22), then re-enter the
 received award.

 >> "AWARD EXCESS" This message will continuously appear in the INFORMATIONAL
Message area of a Display and occurs when FFM determines that the miles
associated with all entered awards for an airline are in excess of all miles
accumulated for that airline to date. You must either correct the awarded
miles, or correct the flights/partners uses. If you're unable to reconcile the
difference and you're sure the awarded miles are correct, do the following :

 1) Select the AWARDS Function from the Main FFM Menu and add up the total
miles associated with all awards from the affected airline, including "USED".
 2) Select the REGISTER Function and note the Award Level of the affected
airline. 3) Note the Miles to Next Award at the top of the screen. 4) Subtract
the Award Level (step #2) from total award miles (step #1). 5) Add the Miles
to Next Award (step #3) to the result from step #4. 6) Select the FLIGHTS
Function, then select "Add an Offset/Flight (Manual Miles)" from the FLIGHTS
menu. Type [OFFSET] for the "Flight #/Partner" entry (refer to Page 11). Enter
the "Miles" (when prompted) with the result from step #5. Confirm that the
error message disappears. If you do not do this, all future status indications
for the affected airline may be invalid.

 >> "AWARD GOAL MUST BE GREATER THAN AWARD LEVEL" During the Registration or
Change of Registration of an airline, you have entered a Total Miles Goal
which is less than Award Level (refer to Page 22).

 >> "AWARD ISSUE DATE MUST BE EARLIER THAN EXPIRY DATE" You have attempted to
enter a newly received award with an issue date later than the expiration
 date. Re-enter.

 ____________________________________________________________________________43
 11: Error Messages
 ______________________________________________________________________________

next to the correct city pair/ airline before selecting the menu item. Select
 "CHANGE ..." instead, if appropriate.

 >> "BONUS DOES NOT EXIST" You have attempted to change an inter-city pair
Bonus, which does not exist (i.e., it was never previously entered). Ensure
the Cursor is positioned next to a valid city pair (with an existing BONUS)
 and re-select "Change".

 >> "C", "O", "F" or Esc REQUIRED" You can only select "C(lose)",
"O(pen)","F(ix)" or Esc during a Reconcile operation (see Page 14).

 >> "CANNOT CHANGE THIS RECORD" You have attempted to modify a "sealed"
Traveler Record. You cannot change a Traveler Record once it has been
"Optimized" or a "New Year" started. Refer to Pages 40 & 41.

 >> "CANNOT IDENTIFY THE SAME CLASS IN BOTH MINIMUM MI. ENTRIES" You have
attempted to establish two minimum miles criteria for the same Class of

operation being performed. This is a momentary message which appears in the
Informational Message area of the Display.

 >> "INVALID TRAVELER RECORD FORMAT OR INCORRECT VERSION" You have either
identified a Default Traveler Record (refer to Page 37) or attempted to
Retrieve a Traveler Record (refer to Page 12) which is not compatible with
 this version of FFM.

 >> "ITINERARY CONTAINS MORE THAN 2 CONNECTING CITIES" You have attempted to
either Move or Delete an itinerary which contains more than the allowable
number of connections (2). This is FFM's only Fatal Error, since it is not
possible to reasonably detect an invalid itinerary during Importing. To
recover, you MUST perform a "Delete - Complete" function (see page 35) and
 re-import all flights.

 >> "TRAVELER RECORD DOES NOT EXIST" 1) You have attempted to Retrieve a
Traveler Record (refer to Page 12), which does not exist on the default drive.
Verify that the Traveler Name and YEAR which you entered are the same as those
used to create the Record (refer to Page 12 - "Create a Traveler Record"). If
you executed a "memory resident" program during this FFM session, ensure that
you did not change the default drive designation. 2) You have identified a
Traveler Record Name/Year in System Defaults (refer to Page 37) which could
not be located on the default drive during the startup process. Ensure that
the Record exists on the default drive. Select "SYSTEM DEFAULTS" . Confirm
both Traveler Name AND Year are correct.

 >> "YEAR FORMAT IS 19XX" You have attempted to enter a Year with less than 4
 digits. Reenter.

 >>>> WARNING MESSAGES

 >> "DELETING BASE MILES GOAL WILL ALSO DELETE BASE MILES ACCRUED" If you
continue deleting this item by pressing the ENTER key, the previously entered
value for "Base Miles Accrued" will automatically be deleted. Press the ESC
key to UNdelete (not delete) Base Miles Goal (refer to Page 23).

 >> "DELETING THIS FLIGHT AFFECTS GOAL STATUS" If you continue with the
deletion of this flight by pressing the ENTER key, the status of one or more
Goals or Awards will be affected. Press ESC to UNdelete (not delete) the
 flight (refer to Page 11).

 >> "ENTERED CITIES HAVE NOT BEEN RETAINED" This message always occurs when
you select "Add an Offset/Flight (Manual Miles)" from the FLIGHTS menu. It is
intended to inform you that the entered city pair or partner/city and
associated distance will not be automatically entered into your Local Inter-
City Distance File (refer to page 11).

 >> "ENTERED YEAR WILL CAUSE THE EXISTING RECORD TO BE REPLACED. CONTINUE ?"
You have entered a Year during Start New Year or Optimize (refer to Pages 40 &
 41) which is the same for both the current Traveler Record and the
superseding (New Year or Optimized) Traveler Record. Enter [Y] to continue
and thereby replace the current Traveler Record with the new record. Enter [N]
to restart from the beginning of the process.

 >> ENTRY WILL CAUSE SOME FLIGHTS TO RECEIVE LESS THAN FULL MILES CREDIT"
You have made an entry which will cause all future flights with this airline
in certain classes of service to be credited with less than 100% of the actual
 flight distance.

 >> "EXPIRATION DATE LESS THAN 30 DAYS FROM TODAY" The award or Bonus you are
currently entering has expired or has an expiration date which occurs within
the next 30 days. Verify "Expiration Date" input is correct. Change if
 appropriate.

 >> "xxxx ALMOST FULL" You are nearing the capacity of entries for either the
FLIGHTS, CITIES, REGISTER or AWARD Function. Refer to the related ERROR
Message for appropriate action. The message occurs when less than 5 entries
 will achieve capacity.

 >> "LAST PAD PAGE" You are now on the last page (10) of the Dynamic Note Pad.
 Delete unneeded entries.

 >> "MILES MAY BE INCORRECT - AIRLINE NOT LISTED...." You have identified an
Airline Code for a new flight/partner use entry (see Page 9), which has not
been Registered. This will result in an absence of any bonuses being used by
FFM for the miles computation. Register the airline, then return to the
FLIGHTS Function and place the Cursor next to the just entered flight/partner
use. Select "Change a Flight or Partner Use" (refer to Page 11). Press the Esc
key on the first entry (TRAVEL DATE), i.e., don't make any changes to the
previously entered information. FFM will correctly recompute the predicted
miles based on the newly registered airline.

 11: Warning Messages
 ______________________________________________________________________________

 >> "NO FLIGHTS IMPORTED OR IMPORTED FLIGHTS NOT IN DOS PATH" During the
previous Import session, you either did not activate the importing of any
flights (i.e., the [ALT .] keys were never pressed), or the file generated
could not be located in your DOS Path. Refer to Page 33 ("Start a Schedule
Importing Session") for a description of the directory considerations. If you
actually have satisfactorily imported one or more flights, you can still
retrieve the resultant file by using the following procedure: 1) Quit FFM and
Copy the file ("SCHED.FFS") from it's current directory to directory [\FFM].
 2) Restart FFM and return to the "Schedule" Display. 3) Press key F1 (Menu).

 >> "SAME ~FROM~ AND ~TO~ CITY CODES" During the entry of Traveler Defaults
(refer to Page 38), you have identified both the default "Departure City" and
"Destination City" with the same name. If this is an error, re-enter one or
 both, otherwise ignore the Warning.

 >> "START NEW YEAR" If you had selected the "Annual" Format for a Traveler
Record (refer to Page 12), this message will be displayed each time that
Record is loaded during the first 10 days of a new year, or until "NEW YEAR"
(refer to Page 40) is selected from the Main FFM Menu.

 >> "SAVE IMPORTED SCHEDULES ?" You are attempting to quit FFM without saving
previously imported airline schedules (refer to Page 33). Enter [Y] to save
previously imported airline schedules. Enter [N] to exit and not save.

 >> "SYSTEM DEFAULTS NOT ENTERED" The System Defaults have not been entered.
You must do this to enable automatic Traveler Record retrieval by FFM during
startup. Enter the appropriate information as described on Page 37 ("System
Defaults"), if a valid Traveler Record already exists. If none exists, ignore
 message.

 >> "TOTAL MILES LESS THAN UNAWARDED MILES..." While Registering a new airline,
you have identified the "Total Miles" as less than the "Total Unawarded Miles"
(refer to Page 25). FFM automatically adjusts "Total Miles" to equal
 "Total Unawarded Miles".

 >> "TRAVELER DEFAULT/S NOT ENTERED" The Traveler Record just loaded from disk
(either automatically by the FFM, or by your Retrieval) does not contain all
of the possible default settings. After the Record is loaded, select
"Traveler Defaults" (refer to Page 38) and enter the appropriate information,
 or ignore this Warning.
