HVP was designed to run on any DOS computer running DOS version 3.2 and up.
Before you use HVP make sure that the files README.TXT, HVP.EXE (HVPDEMO.EXE

check for these files, place your original program disk in your drive. Switch
to that drive i.e. B: <ENTER> A: <ENTER>. Then run the DOS command DIR. The
names of the files should scroll up on the screen.

directory structures you may install from below the root) type CD\ <ENTER>.

version.

To install to a floppy;

  2. Put a formatted working disk in the other available drive A: or B:. 3.
Switch back to the drive with the program disk.
  4. Type copy *.* A: or B: <ENTER>.
  5. To run the program switch to the drive with the working copy and type
HVP or DEMOHVP (depending on which copy you have) and press enter.

Using HVP Performa analysis V 1.1
HVP is a very simple program to use it can hold up to 450 trucks in its
data file. If you have DEMOHVP then you can hold 450 trucks in the data file
also, but upon re-entering DEMOHVP if there are more than 4 records the data
file will be deleted. DEMOHVP is a full working copy except that it will not
let you keep more than 4 records.

When you first enter HVP you are shown HVP's main menu you have 5 choices.
To select a choice you can press the number of the option or use your cursor
keys to move the selection bar to the appropriate choice then press <ENTER>.

NOTE: If you get hung in the program somewhere and cant get out, you can
hold down the CTRL key and tap the BREAK key then release those keys and
press <ENTER>. This action will take you back to command prompt.

 The Options in detail:
  1.Add new record
This option brings you to a screen where you can add a new truck into the
data file. You are first prompted to enter a truck number or you can press
F10 to return to the main menu. Type a truck number you may use up to 10
letters and numbers. Then press <ENTER>. If you enter a number that already
exists then the program will not let you enter another truck with the same
number until you delete the current truck with the same number (See option
4). If you are prompted with the TRUCK FOUND ENTER ANOTHER NUMBER message all
you have to do is type a new number or press F10 to quit. Press enter after
typing the number.
You are now prompted to enter miles per week. Type in the appropriate miles
per week and press <ENTER>. A list of maximum allowable amounts for the
fields is attached to the end of this manual. If you enter an amount to large
the compute will beep, clear the field then prompt you to enter again.
The rest of the information ask for works the same as above.
When you get to the bottom and the totals are figured there are four
options you may make at the time.
F7 Send the information to the printer. The printer must be set to accept
the ASCII 255 character set. In generic mode.
F8 Save this record to data and bring up a blank data entry screen.
F9 Exit the Add record mode and go to the main menu without saving the
current record.
F10 Exit the data entry screen and go to the main menu while saving the
current record.

 2.Look up truck.
By selecting this option you can look up a truck that is in the data file
and modify its data.
This screen works exactly the same as the data entry screen except that the
F6 option has been added. Whenever you see the F6 option shown at the top of
your screen you may select it to enable you to modify data for the current
record. Each field will be highlighted type the highlighted letter(s) and
press <ENTER> you are then prompted to enter the new data. When the F6 option
is showing you may also use any of the bottom line options.

 3.Change screen colors.
When you are in the color change screen you have a list of 10 options in
front of you. You select those options just as you select options at the main
menu. When you have selected an option you are prompted to enter the
highlighted letter(s) from the color selections below then press <ENTER>. The
color change will take effect immediately. When you are finished selecting
colors press F9 or F10 depending on if you want to save your changes or not.
NOTE: you are only allowed 11 color changes at a time before you must exit to
the main menu a warning will pop up on the screen. When you are back at your
main menu you may then re-enter the color change program.

 4.Delete a truck.
This option allows you to mark a record for deletion (No record will be
deleted until you exit the program and are ask a second time if you want to
delete marked records.) This screen has two options; the first is to type a
truck number and press <ENTER> to mark it for deletion or the second to press
F10 to exit to the main menu. When you select a truck for deletion it will be
shown on the screen that you selected that truck.

 5.Exit program
This option will allow you to exit back to DOS. If you have records marked
for deletion you will now be asked if you want to delete them. you must
confirm this with a Y for yes or N for no (Do not press <ENTER>). You will
then be returned to the command line.

At any time if you get completely hung in the program try pressing and
holding the Ctrl key and tapping the break key once, then let up on both.
After doing this you should get a message that tells you to press return
(<Enter>). You will then be returned to the command line. The current truck
you were working on will be lost by this action unless it has been previously
saved.
