0.	This demo

This demo comes with a demofile with 1000 records. In the last record the
word 'QuickFind' is stored. Try to find the record by pressing the QuickFind
button. For a speed test you could then build a new demofile with more
records.

1.	What is QuickFind?

QuickFind is a text retrieval kit consisting of a number of functions. It
offers extreme fast partial text searching facilities that enable users to
search through files of various formats fast and easily. Offering a number
of advantages, QuickFind clearly improves computer programs.

Extremely fast partial text searching facilities

QuickFind operates extremely fast even when large files are concerned. The
search speed does not depend on the number of records, as is the case with
most conventional search add-ins, but depends on the size of the files which
are being searched through. The speed can be in the range of 1-7 sec. per
megabyte depending on the configuration used.

The QuickFind text retrieval kit can easily be used

End users don't have to bother about the availability of extensive search
information, for fragments of information are sufficient for serving as search
words. Users can feel at ease because QuickFind facilitates search processes
with randomly chosen search information available:

It is no longer necessary that users know the first part of indexed fields.
QuickFind checks whole records for all provided search words.

Flexible ...	for files of various formats
for single-user environment and multi-user environment

QuickFind enables users to search through files of various formats. It can be
applied for checking of DAT files, DBF files and other files that have a fixed
record structure (SDF format). However, QuickFind can also be applied for
BINARY files without a fixed structure. Thereby, it is possible to create a
free-text data base within Clarion.

2.	Applications of QuickFind

Data is being saved in order to make use of it at a later stage. In most cases,
however, several search processes are necessary in order to find the correct
data. Index files can be helpful for this purpose, but they bring about a
number of limitations for the user. Without making use of index files,
QuickFind enables to search through various kinds of files fast and easily.
Besides, disk space is used efficiently.

A number of QuickFind applications have become possible, such as:

	-	Query By Example
	-	Free-text data base
	-	Hypertext
	-	Partial searching
	-	Referential Integrity Checking

Within a structured file, QuickFind can perform multiple word search. This
means that the system checks for several search words within fixed limits.
Within every file, a single word search can be performed.

With QuickFind every table can be enhanced with partial searching capabilities
besides the normal key searches. The QuickFind kit comes with an example
modelfile extention (CPD) or template file (CDD) that makes it easy to
integrate QuickFind.

Besides QuickFind for dBaseIII, FoxBase and Clipper there is a QuickFind kit
for Clarion 2.1 (CPD) and for Clarion 3.0 (CDD).
