                                      OVERVIEW

    Administrator:      Serves as the "main menu for the family of SoFt-Flex
                        products, and can be configured to run other .BAT,
                        .COM, and .EXE programs on the system.

    WordRight:          A text based, menu driven word processor which allows
                        the operator to Create, Revise, View, Print, and Index
                        documents.  Additionally, they may select Options with
                        regard to Edit Marking, Screen Display, etc.  Features
                        consist of:

                        Page Format:   Margins, Pitch, Line Spacing, Printer
                                       output, etc., and may be modified as
                                       often as necessary throughout the
                                       document.

                        Print Styles:  Single and Double Underscore, Bold,
                                       Overstrike, Shadow, Super and Subscript,
                                       and combinations.  The Print Styles may
                                       be changed as often as necessary
                                       throughout the document.

                        Tab Functions: Standard, Numeric, Left Indent, Right
                                       Justified, Center, Dot and Underline
                                       Leaders.  The Tabs may be defined and
                                       edited as often as necessary throughout
                                       the document.

                        Footnotes:     Automatic or user defined numbering,
                                       with up to 1000 characters of text per
                                       footnote.  The footnotes may be edited,
                                       and can include the full range of
                                       printer output options.

                        Phrases:       Up to 52, 2000 character per, user
                                       definable Key Phrases.  May include
                                       Print Styles, Page Formats, etc.

                        Find/Replace:  Features optional Case, Whole Words,
                                       Wild Card Characters, Global or user
                                       Prompting.

                        Blocks:        (Document Assembly) May be merged at
                                       user defined location, in multiples and
                                       simultaneously.

                        Graphics:      (Line) Offers the ability to create
                                       organizational charts, etc.

                        Headers:       (and Footers) Can be defined to print on
                                       All, Even, or Odd pages.  Includes Page
                                       Numbering, and optional Print Styles,
                                       etc.

                        Speller:       400,000 word interactive Spell Checker.
                                       Allows to Add, Edit, Ignore, and List
                                       possible words against those not found
                                       in the dictionary.

                        Calculator:    Full featured calculator interactive
                                       with on-screen text.

                        Directory:     (Document)  The operator may Title the
                                       documents up to 30 characters, and 3
                                       character Author and Operator Initials.
                                       A File Number and Revision Letter is
                                       automatically assigned.  The Revision
                                       Letter is incremented for each revision.
                                       When Revising, Viewing, Indexing, and
                                       Printing, the operator will be presented
                                       a Directory of documents from which to
                                       select, showing File Number, Revision
                                       Letter, Title, Author and Operator's
                                       Initials, File Type, Date and Time of
                                       Creation and last Revision.  99 Files
                                       per Directory/Drive.  Additional
                                       Directories may be defined with the DOS
                                       SUBST command.

                        Printing:      The operator my print a portion of a
                                       page, an entire page, or pages of a
                                       displayed document in the Create,
                                       Revise, and View modes.  From the Print
                                       Menu, they may select to print a
                                       document, or queue documents for
                                       printing, in single or multiple copies.

                        Move/Copy:     The operator may Move and/or Copy
                                       portions of text within the displayed
                                       document, or from one document to
                                       another.

                        General:       Single Line Centering, Hard Page Breaks,
                                       non-Printing Comments, document
                                       Appending, Column movement, Widow/Orphan
                                       control, Variables, Hyphenation, Ghost
                                       Hyphens, on-line Help.

    Merge
    Processor:          Allows the operator to merge data to a WordRight
                        document from the Keyboard, a DataRight file, or an
                        ASCII file; and have the output be to a Document,
                        Printer, or both.  Sophisticated searches and sorts may
                        be performed when merging with a DataRight file.

    File Manager:       The user may Copy and Delete WordRight/DataRight files;
                        copy and delete DOS files; and output WordRight files
                        to ASCII.

    DataRight:          A user definable "data manager".  Offering up to 64
                        fields per record, with 11 available Field Types.
                        Fields and Records may be added, edited, and deleted.
                        Files may be merged with other files, or to a WordRight
                        document via the Merge Processor.  Powerful sort
                        options.

    CalcRight:          A relational three dimensional spreadsheet.  Up to 255
                        columns, 255 rows, and 255 pages, depending on RAM.
                        Variable column widths from 1-127.  Multidimensional
                        replication.  DIF and ASCII I/O.

         The following are abbreviated instructions on the use of WordRight.
    We are hopeful that you will be able to use WordRight to the extent that
    you can determine whether it will prove valuable for your personal and/or
    professional application, and that you will register for a licensed copy.

                                Create a Document

         From the Administrator Menu, index F1 for WordRight, and you will be
    presented a menu which resembles the following:

         You may select to (C)reate a Document.  Consider this like placing a
    blank piece of paper in a typewriter.  (R)evise a Document is for Adding
    to, Editing, or Deleting, from an already existing document.  (V)iewing,
    is simply for looking at a document on-screen.  No changes will be saved.
    (P)rinting allows for selecting document(s) to be printed, and in
    multiples.  (I)ndex a Document allows for existing documents to be defined
    as "Block Files" for document assembly.  (O)ptions offers choices on Edit
    Marking, Screen Display, etc.

         The cursor will be positioned over top of the (C)reate a Document
    option.  Index F10, or simply press C, and you will be presented a screen
    similar to the following:

         The cursor will be positioned at the Title Field.  Key the Title of
    the Document you're about to Create, up to 30 characters, and index the Tab
    key.  The cursor will then position at the Author's Initials field.  The
    Author's and Operator's Initials fields are up to 3 characters each, and
    are optional.  You may position the cursor at the Save in Drive field by
    pressing Tab repeatedly.  The default of C will be displayed, and should be
    accepted until WordRight has been Registered, and you receive the complete
    documentation on the program.

         After having entered the Title, optional Author and Operator's
    Initials, etc., index F10, and you will be presented a screen which

    the cursor will be positioned immediately below the # - Page Format symbol,
    and you may begin typing.

         In the upper left hand corner of the screen, you will the see the
    Inserting message.  To the right of center, you will see Char nn, Line nn
    and Page nn, to indicate the location of the cursor relative to where the
    character would be printed.  The second line on the left side of the screen
    will display CREATING - C:01A Filename, which means that you are in the
    Create Mode, the file will be saved on Drive C, the automatically assigned
    File Number and Revision Letter, and the user defined document Title.
    Print Off will be displayed to the right side of the same line, and a row
    of dots "..." and "T's" follows, to indicate the pre-set default Tabs.

         At the very bottom of the screen are the abbreviated uses of the
    Function Keys in the Insert Mode.  Alternate uses of the Function Keys, and
    a variety of additional "mnemonic" Commands are available upon indexing the
    ESC key.  Refer to the section of this text regarding Function Keys for
    details on their respective use.

         After having typed the document to your satisfaction, index ESC
    followed by F.  You will be prompted:

         To Revise (add to, edit, etc.) an existing document, position the
    cursor over top of the Revise a Document option and press F10, or simply
    index R, and you will be presented a screen which resembles the following.

    Operator's Initials for the document you wish to Revise, index F10, and the

    Notice immediately above, the system displays Revising - C:03B Dealer
    Letter.  The Drive Letter is C:, the File Number is 03, and the Revision
    Letter is B, whereas it was originally A.  WordRight automatically
    increments the Revision Letter by one letter of the alphabet for every time
    a document is Revised.  To the right of the Revision Letter is the Title
    previously assigned to the document.

         At this point, you may position the cursor at any location in the
    document and begin to edit, add, etc.  Refer to the instructions in this
    text regarding Cursor Movement keys, and Function/Command Keys for complete
    details.   After having edited the document to your satisfaction, index ESC
    followed by F.  You will be prompted:

                               View a Document

         To View an existing document, position the cursor over top of the View
    a Document option and press F10, or simply index V, and you will be

         Examine the Directory of Documents, and use the arrow down key to move
    the cursor to the line which lists the document you wish to Print.  Key the
    letter P to the left of the File Number for each document to be Printed.
    If the document(s) you choose to Print is not displayed on the current
    screen, index F2 to display the second and subsequent screens of the
    Document Directory.  After having selected all documents you wish to Print,
    index F10, and the system will display as follows.

    The cursor will be positioned at the Print >01< Copies prompt.  You
    may input the value equal to the Number of Copies of the document(s) you
    wish to Print, or accept the default of 1.  If the document(s) to be
    printed are multiple page, and your printer uses Continuous, Sheetfeed, or
    Cassette Feed, accept the default of Y at the Print continuous prompt.
    Otherwise, replace Y with N, and as the document(s) are being printed, the
    system will halt at the end of each page, and request paper be put in the
    printer.

         After having responded accordingly to the Number of Copies, and
    Continuous prompts, index F10.  The system will display that Printing is in
    progress, and upon completion return to the WordRight Main Menu.

                               Index a Document

         There are a variety of methods of document assembly available within
    WordRight.  For large blocks of boiler plate text, the Index a Document
    feature is best suited.  To define an entire document as an Indexed Block,
    position the cursor over top of the Index a Document option and press F10,
    or simply press I, and the system will display as follows.

         After having edited, or electing to accept the Title, Author's and
    Operator's Initials for the document you wish to Index, press F10, and the
    system will display a message indicating that the selected document is
    being Indexed, and return to the WordRight Main Menu.  Refer to the
    sections of this text regarding Attach Blocks for instructions on using
    Indexed Documents.

                                 Select Options

         The Options function allows the user to make choices that govern Edit
    Marking, Screen Display, etc.  To view, and/or change the current
    configuration, position the cursor over top of the Options title on the
    WordRight Main Menu, and press F10, or simply press O.  The system will
    display as follows.

                             Cursor Movement Keys

         While in the Create, Revise, and View modes of WordRight, the
    following keys allow cursor movement accordingly.

    Arrow Right:   Moves cursor one position to the Right for each time the key
                   is pressed.

    Arrow Left:    Moves cursor one position to the Left for each time the key
                   is pressed.

    Arrow Up:      Moves the cursor one line up for each time the key is
                   pressed.

    Arrow Down:    Moves the cursor one line down for each time the key is
                   pressed.

    Page Up:       Moves the cursor up one screen at a time for each time the
                   key is pressed.

    Page Down:     Moves the cursor down one screen at a time for each time the
                   key is pressed.

    WordRight User's Manual provided upon Registration.

                              Function/Command Keys

    INS            While in the Create, Revise, and View modes, the Insert key
                   moves existing text to the right for insertion of
                   new/additional text.

    DEL            Deletes text at the location of the cursor.

    ESC            Toggles from the Insert to the non-Insert, or Control mode.

         While in the Insert mode of the Create, Revise, and View modules of
    WordRight, the Function Keys perform the following:

    F1-Page Layout:     Allows the operator to set the right, left, top, and
                        bottom margins; pitch, spacing, etc.

    F2-Print Style:     Allows the operator to define text to be output in a
                        variety of Print Styles consisting of Normal,
                        Underline, Double Underline, Shadow, Bold,
                        combinations, etc.; Superscript, Subscript, etc.

    F3-Special:         Allows the operator to define Hard Page Breaks,
                        Non-printing Comment Lines, Ghost Hyphens, and send
                        Special Print Commands to the Printer.

    F4-Ruler:           Allows for setting Standard, Numeric, Indent, Center,
                        Right Justified, Dot and Underline Leader Tabs.

    F5-Center:          Offers Single Line Centering of text.

    F6-Footnote:        Allows the operator to define a Footnote, with options
                        for automatic or manual numbering.

    F7-Phrase:          Recalls a predefined Key Phrase from the Library at the
                        location of the cursor.

         While in the non-Insert mode (Control mode) of the Create, Revise, and
    View modules of WordRight, toggle to this mode by pressing ESC, and titles
    and purpose of the Function keys will change as follows:

    ESC/F1-Move:        Allows text to be defined so it may be Moved to a
                        different location in the current, or another document.

    ESC/F2-Copy:        Allows text to be defined so it may be Copied to a
                        different location in the current, or another document.

    ESC/F3-Get:         Gets text that was defined with the F1-Move, or F2-Copy
                        functions.

    ESC/F4-Find New:    Allows the operator to define New text to be Found
                        after having used the F5-Find function.

    ESC/F5-Find:        Allows the operator to define text to be Found.

    ESC/F6-Replace:     Allows the operator to define text to be Found, and
                        Replace with other text.  Global, Case, Whole Word, and
                        Wildcard options.

    ESC/F7-Cut:         Allows the user to define a block of text of the
                        current document to by written to a DOS ASCII file.

                             Command (mnemonic) Keys

         Also, while in the non-Insert mode of the Create, Revise, and View
    modules of WordRight, press ESC to enter this mode, the bottom portion of
    the screen will display one character commands available.  Listed below is
    the purpose of each.

    (A)ppend:           Allows the operator to copy a document to the document
                        currently displayed.

    (B)-Attach Blocks:  Inserts text defined as an Indexed Document.

    (C)olumns:          Allows for movement of text in vertical columns.

    (D)isplay:          Allows the operator to choose whether to have the
                        system Display screen formats.

    (E)rase:            Allows text from the current location of the cursor to
                        be Erased to the end of the document.

    (F)inish:           Saves the current document to disk, and returns to the
                        WordRight Main Menu.

    (G)raphics:         Accesses the Line Graphics feature.

    (H)eader/Footer:    Allows the operator to define strings of text to be
                        automatically printed at the top, or bottom of the
                        page; on even, odd, or all pages.  Works in conjunction
                        with the Automatic Page Numbering.

    (I)nsert:           Allows for a block of text to be inserted at the
                        location of the cursor in the current document.

    (J)ump:             Allows the operator to Jump to a particular page of the
                        document without having to use the Page Up/Down keys.

    (K)ill:             Aborts all edits of the existing document, and returns
                        to the WordRight Main Menu.

    (L)ibrary:          The user may define up to 52, 2000 character per,
                        blocks of text, to be recalled at any time at the
                        location of the cursor with the F7-Phrase key.  May
                        include Page Formats, Print Styles, etc.

    (M)erge:            Allows for ASCII files to be copied to the current
                        document at the location of the cursor.

    (O)vertype:         Toggles between typing text over top of existing text,
                        as versus inserting new.

    (P)rinter:          Allows the operator to engage the Printer with the
                        document displayed.  May Print portions, or the entire
                        document.

    (Q)uick:            Performs Quick Search of Variables for rapid form fill
                        in.

    (S)pell:            Engages the 400,000 word Spell Checker.

    (V)erify:           Allows the operator to find and edit text defined as a
                        variable.

    (W)idow/Orphan:     Prevents single lines of text from occurring at the top
                        or bottom of a page.

    (X)change:          Allows the operator to Exchange new text for existing
                        text.

    (+)Calculator:      Accesses the on-screen Calculator function.

    (-)Hyphen Scan:     Enables the operator to produce more even margins by
                        hyphenating long words at the ends of lines of text.
