Introduction

News Of The Day (NOTD) is a MS/Windows based messaging system that
allows a network system adminstrator to conditionally display a
message at startup. The design of NOTD allows it to work in any
network (Novell, LAN Manager, Baynan, Windows for Workgroups, Lantastic,
etc...) that allows NOTD to be installed and executed from a shared
directory. Each user must have unique INI files also.

NOTD supports three modes of operation:

0 - Display a new message to a user only once
1 - Display a message once a day for a defined life span
2 - Display the message at every Windows startup

Contents

The NOTD distribution disk consists of the following files:

NOTD.EXE - Main program
ADMIN.EXE - Adminstrator Program
NOTD.INI - Users Configuration File
NOTDCFG.INI - NOTD Global Configuration File
NOTDINFO.TXT - Basic information file
GUIDE.WRI - Administrators Guide in Write format
THREED.VBX - Program Library supporting three
				  dimensional interface
VBRUN300.DLL - Program Library required for Visual Basic
				  Programs
SETUP.EXE - Main Setup Program
SETNOTD.EXE - Secondary Setup program
SETUPKIT.DLL - Setup routines
VER.DLL - Version checking routines

System Requirements

NOTD requires Windows 3.x and a network that allows a shared directory
to be accessed by all users on the LAN, and 1MB disk space.
