MessageWorks Installation
==========================

This document describes how to install MessageWorks on a network or stand-
alone PC. For a more detailed description of what MessageWorks can do for
you, view the file OVERVIEW.TXT.

MessageWorks requires at least 500K of free disk space when first installed.
It requires a 286 or higher PC with 1 MB RAM and Microsoft Windows 3.1 or
later installed. Network installations require a Windows-compatible network.

To install MessageWorks, follow these simple instructions:

1.  Start Windows.

2. Run the SETUP.EXE program found on the Installation disk. From the
    Program Manager, click Run on the File menu, then enter the drive name
    and full path where SETUP.EXE is located (e.g. A:\SETUP.EXE or
    C:\DOWNLOAD\SETUP.EXE) and click OK.

3. For network installations, enter the name of the person who will be
    taking messages on this computer, whether they should be allowed to read
    messages for all users, and the type of installation to perform.

The setup program will decompress and copy the files and create a Program
Manager group titled "Epiphany." Inside the Epiphany group will be several
icons, one of which is titled "MessageWorks." Double-click on this icon to
start MessageWorks. Online help is available to answer any questions about
the program.

NOTE: Double-click on the "Read Me" icon for more detailed instructions on
setting up MessageWorks on your network or search for "network" in the online
help.

IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM MESSAGEWORKS 2.0
==========================================

The changes made to MessageWorks since version 2.0 required an expanded
file format. If you already use version 2.0, your data files will be
converted to the new format automatically the first time MessageWorks
and take or read a message. Make sure to upgrade all workstations,
because version 2.0 is unable to read the new file format (and it can
interfere with the file conversion if running on another PC on the network
when upgrading). As always, it is a good idea to backup your existing
data files beforehand.
