Communications Mike Albert; $10 converts binary files to ASCII only so that they can be sent email. Batlog .9 [BATLOG]. Computer Usage Log Doug Darrow; $5 keeps track of the time you spend using specified programs. CCIS 2.0 [CCIS]. System Testing S. Demers; $0 tests your CPU's speed. Compressed Digital Audio [CDA] Sound File Compression Steve Krenek; $18 can compress VOC files by a ratio of 4:1 using ADPCM. It can also decompress the compressed files. CRT40 [CRT40]. Video Jack A. Orman; $20 lets you change screen colors for borders, background and foreground, number of lines and columns and more. DF 3.5 [DF] Disk Copy Utilities Mark Vitt; $20 creates an image of a floppy on your hard disk for production copying. Also see the next program, Extract. Extract 1.0 [EXTRACT] Disk Copy Utilities Gilles Vollant; $20 extracts a file from floppy disk images created on hard disk by WinImage, DCF, DF, Sabdu, etc. These programs create floppy disk image files for faster disk duplication, but the contents of image files cannot be accessed normally. DrvSwp [DRVSWP] Disk Drive Utility $0 lets you reassign or swap drive letters, as well as write-protect hard drives. EchoBlock 1.0 [ECHOBLOK]. System Start-up R. N. Wisan; $0 enhances DOS 6's CONFIG.SYS menu system. It prints on screen just the parts of a Config.Sys file that would be operative under a given menu choice. Err [ERR]. System Utilities Wayne Robbins; $10 is a TSR which reports errorlevels returned by other programs. FileC 1.06 [FILEC] Keyboard Utility Mike Morearty; $0 is a 2.5k TSR which allows you to type only the first few characters of long file names in DOS and then it fills in the rest. Grammar Online! [GRAMMAR]. Word Processing Utilities David Harrill Roberts; $15 is a 115k TSR which you can pop up while in your word processor to look up grammar rules. Most text-based word processors do not use a lot of memory, so the 115k should not be a problem, but the author should really use swap-to-disk or to EMS to reduce the RAM overhead. Gun Clipart 1.0 [GUNS] Clip-Art and Fonts Gun Clipart; $20 is a collection of gun clipart in PCX format. Jeopardy Detector 1.0 [JPRDY]. System Analysis PC-Kwik Corporation; $0 monitors disk caches for periods when the disk structure is in jeopardy. Many disk caches produce periods when directories point to files which have not yet been allocated in the File Allocation Table on the disk. If a crash occurs during these jeopardy periods, cross-linked files can result. -----November 1993 Additions Disk #2 Universal Find & Replace Utility 1.0 [FR] Softechnics; $14 can do search and replace and make other changes to files. It works with any format and size of file. In The Beginning 1.2 [ITB12]. Keyboard Utility Jim Hughen; $35 records/plays back key strokes used to start programs. JSCroll 4.1 [JSCROLL]. Video Utility Jeffrey Chasen; $15 is a TSR which lets you view text that has scrolled off the screen in DOS. JS-Not 1.0 [JS_NOT] File Utility Johnathan Mark Smith; $8 lets you specify files on which action should NOT be taken. For example, you can delete or copy all files but those specified. Locate 1.0 [LOCATE] File Finder Terry Crandall; $0 searches for files on one or more drives. Options include searching floppies and network drives; filtering by file attribute, size, and date range; and executing commands on found files. This has become our favorite file finder already. C source code is included. PSDriver 0.1 [PSDRIV] PostScript Printer Utilities Johannes Geenen; $0 is a device driver that allows direct printing of ASCII files to a Postscript printer. It can also be used on network printers. QuikFile 5.1 [QFILE51]. Address Book James P. Guare; $10 is an address and telephone directory program. It includes a full-featured text editor, phone dialing through a modem, mailing label printing, and more. SuperFind 4.7 [SF] File Finder David L. Dight; $0 is a different kind of file finder. It reads all your drives once, then lets you interactively search for files based on name, attribute, date, and size. It can also execute commands on found files. Because it does not have to re-read the drives each time, it is ideal when you are searching for more than one file. SF also lets you shell to DOS so that you can return to SF later without having to re-read the drives. Tagaday 1.11 [TAD111]. Daily Quote Utility Robert N. Payes; $0 selects a line at random from a text file and displays it. This lets you create your own quote-of-the day files. Volume and Serial Number 1.26 [VASN126]. Disk Utility Samuel Kaplin; $6 allows changing the serial number and volume name on disks. Wipe-Out. 1.06 [WIPEOUT] System Setup & Control Giles Rider; $25 de-installs programs and their related directories in DOS, Windows and OS/2. It can also restore your original Config.Sys, Autoexec.Bat and Environment. Requires DOS 6.0. ZipDel 1.0 [ZIPDEL] ZIP File Utility Steven Barcus; $0 compares the time and date of files in a ZIP file with the expanded files on a hard disk and reports if any changes have been made. It optionally will delete files from the hard disk which do match. -----November 1993 Additions Disk #3 [AreaCode] 1.0 (Jeff Harrington; $0) finds the state, country and large metropolitan areas when you type in the area code. [Bells] (Jerry Whiting; $0) is a collection of beeps for use with batch files. Cipher 1.6 [CIPHER16] (Mike Albert; $40) is a file encryption program. The Comic 1.0 [COMIC] (Owen Associates; $5) displays a different funny one-liner each time you boot your computer. [Compdir] (Davor Hrboka; $1) will compare the contents of any two subdirectories or multiple pairs of subdirectories and produce a listing of files that meet parameter criteria. Days Off Calculators 1.0 [DAYSOFF] (David Grant; $0) is a route and schedule planning system. The calculators allocate crew members among the seven days of the week, allowing for different staffing levels on different days and optimizing the off-days assigned to each crew member. Two calculators are included: one for 4-day workweeks and the other for 5-day workweeks. Directory Commander Plus 2.0 [DOSUTIL] (Chuck Steenburgh; $14.95) allows DOS 6.0 users to set and save (to a batch file) DIR switches from a menu driven program. Then you can run the batch file instead of trying to remember all the switch options. [DR_Bak] (John De Palma; $0) is a batch file utility for storing the current directory and changing back to it later. QB source included. Also see PPPD on PsL disk #1993. [DStroll] (Al Zermane; $0) allows the user to stroll through large directories viewing entries, using various sorting criteria such as date, file name, extension and size. -----November 1993 Additions Disk #4 Emily'93 [EMILY] is an add-on file of Hurricane Emily to be used with the MERLIN Hurricane Tracking Tool (which is on disk #4334). Environ 3.1 [ENV31] (David E. Key; $any) allows direct manipulation of the DOS environment, saving and restoring variables to/from files. TSR Floating Point Calculator 3.0 [FCA30] (Bob Eyer; $20) is a oneline TSR calculator able to perform complex math functions. [FCBin] 1.2 (Mike Albert; $25) compares two files and lists the differences between them byte by byte. Text or binary files can be compared. [FSort] 1.0 (Mike Albert; $25) can sort files of any size, optionally removing duplicate lines. FView 2.1 [FVIEW2] (Chris Gordon; $0) is a text file viewer. Generalized File Replication Utilities [GFRU] (S. Gopalakrishnan; $35) identifies changes made to data on one computer, copies the changes and applies them to the same files on a secondary computer system. GetKey 1.6 [GETKEY16] (Matthew G. Moody; $0) is a batch file utility that gets a keypress. HiSpeed [HISPED2] (John J. Speth; $0) lets you transfer files between computers at high speeds over a null modem cable. [HoldOn] 2.10 (Samuel Kaplin; $6) is a variable delay program for batch files. It has 3 different ranges; seconds, milliseconds, and eighteenths of a second. -----November 1993 Additions Disk #5 Jason's File Finder 2.0c [JFF20C] (Zinfandel Software; $10) will search for one or more filespecs across one or more drives or directories. It will optionally execute commands on matching files. JSPick 1.0 [JSPICK10] (Johnathan Mark Smith; $10) checks ASCII files, such as those exported from mailing list programs, for duplicate entries. [MYM2QKN] 2.01 (Charles E. Jackson III; $10-$15) converts data from Managing Your Money (versions 7.1 or higher) to Quicken for Windows. Network Disk Info [NDI] (Mark Vitt; $0) monitors and displays graphically disk space usage on network drives. It is intended to be left running, and it updates the display every 10 seconds; however, it can also be used on a one-shot basis on non-network drives. [NPWait]. (Nicholas Petreley; $0) lets you interrupt CONFIG.SYS in OS/2 to drop to a command line. C source code is included. [Reboot] can reboot your computer from a batch file or from the DOS command line, optionally doing either a cold or warm (i.e.: no memory check) reboot. Ron's Smart Search 3.0 [RSS30] (Ron Loewy; $30) performs fast logic searches on static text databases. AutoScore 1.1 [SCORE] (MT Software; $20) keeps track of bowling scores for up to five players and keeps game and series totals for the team. [Squish] 1.0 (Mike Albert; $10) compresses and decompresses files. Time And Date 1.27 [TAD127] (Samuel Kaplin; $10.00) allows changing the time and date on files. It also keeps logs on files that it has changed. [WaiTill] (Phillip Scott; $0) lets your computer perform tasks at a specified date and time. [ZipFind] 1.2 (Mike Albert; $25) searches ZIP or ARC files for text strings. -----November 1993 Updates Disk #1 (AH-02) Home Loan Diary 2.0 [LOAN20] is a home mortgage diary and amortization schedule calculator. (BZ-01) HPLJ Calendar Printer 4.0 [HPCAL] prints out a one-page calendar for any year on an HP Laserjet compatible printer. NEW: supports HP LJ 4. (BZ-Quick Look) [CAL] is a simple calendar program. C source code included. (CM-01) TinyHost 3.31 [TH331] permits logging onto a computer from a remote site without having to install a large, complex BBS system. (CM-Quick Look) Modem Dictionary 2.0 [MDIC20] (R. Scott Perry; $0) contains definitions of over 730 words related to modems and BBSs. -----November 1993 Updates Disk #2 (DB-Quick Look) [JSDDuper] 3.0 will read a data file and make a new file without any duplicate records in it. (GA-13) Race The Nags 1.3 [NAGS13] (ASP) is an animated horse-racing game for up to six players. (MS-01) Bio-Cal 10.2 [BIOTEN] is a biorhythm-calendar program. ($25) -----November 1993 Updates Disk #3 (MS-10) BassTips 1.5 [BTIPS] (ASP) pops a valuable fishing or boating tip onto your screen each time it is run. (PG-04) CodeLister 1.21 [CL121] (ASP) prints C source code files. (PG-04) EMSIF 2.42 [EMSIF] provides a high-level interface to LIM EMS control functions. (PG-08) RGB Color Mixer 1.5 [RGB15] is a color mixer for use with the setrgbpalette() function.
