        VENICE LIGHT -- GALLERY MANAGEMENT
            (C)1989-1991 John Wetterau

Venice Light requires DOS and 512K. It does not require a hard
disk. You can run the program on an economical laptop with only
        one floppy disk drive!

Venice Light can be installed on either a hard disk or a floppy
disk. Type "a:install" (without the quotes) and press Enter. The
        installation program is self explanatory.

If you are installing to a floppy disk on a machine that has only
one drive, you will need to swap the installation disk and the
new program disk several times. Before using Venice Light on a
floppy disk system you will need to make two data disks. The
program will do this for you. Please consult the manual for
instructions. The manual can be printed from the first display
        screen.

Venice Light is for any fine arts gallery, antique shop, or
consignment sale business. It is unusually easy to learn and
operate. You can use Venice Light in 20 minutes even if you have
no previous computer experience. Online help is available at all
times. Press the F1 key at any point for help with the current
operation. The bulk of the manual is organized alphabetically so
that you can directly look up more detailed explanations of the
topics that are discussed on the help displays.

Venice Light can be used at the point of sale if desired. It
produces customer invoices, sales reports, artist statements,
receivable reports, customer lists, and mailing labels. You
enter sales on a display that looks like an ordinary sales slip.
Every effort has been made to make Venice Light a straight
forward, effective, economical answer to your sales and mailing
        list needs.

The data is saved in Dbase format, an industry standard. Your
sales and customer information is available to many other
programs such as Word, WordPerfect, WordStar, Q&A, Magellan,
Alpha 4,and Lotus Works. The program is compiled with Clipper
        for fast operation.

After installation, type VENICE to start the program (capital
letters not necessary). Venice Light will adjust to most monitors.
If you wish to force a monochrome display, type VENICE M. This may
give you a more readable display, especially on laptops and some
systems that emulate a color monitor with "gray scales." If you
are using a hard disk system you must be in the subdirectory \VENICE.
