A Batch View 1.0 [BATCH] (Robin R. Latham; $15) lets you add color pop-up menus, message windows, screen clearing functions and more to batch files. Black Box 1.1 [BLACBOX] (Algos Software; $10) is a file encryption program. Batch File Command Extensions 1.2 [BVARS] (Scott A. Armitage; $15) is a set of batch file utilities for DOS. [Cent] 1.1 (pcBased Technologies; $0) is a batch file utility which centers specified text on the screen. [GetKey] 1.5.1 (Matthew G. Moody; $0) is a batch file utility for getting a keypress from the user. Features include timed input, colors, specifying allowable keys, and case sensitivity. Cover Your Back(up) Version 2.6 [CYB26] (Mark Feldesman; $10) monitors your backup schedule and alerts you when it is time to do a full backup. (Alternatives: PsL disk #1514 in U1_09.) [DATE] (B.J. Ball; $0) calculates the astronomical Julian number for any date from Jan 1, 4712 through Jan 1, 4000, and for converting Julian day numbers to dates. C source code included. [DBVGA] 2.0 (JAB Software; $10) is a screen blanker (non-TSR) which not only has nice graphics, but it intersperses them with witty sayings. VGA required. [ComSpeed] 1.0 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) tests the data rate of the COM1 port. [PopKey] 1.0 (Geoff Friesen; $10) is a TSR that makes it easy to adjust the keyboard's typematic rate and initial delay value. -----October 1993 Small Utilities Disk #2 [Delimit] 1.1 (Jefferson P. Carey; $25) scans columnar reports which have been written to ASCII text files and extracts specified types of data to an ASCII comma-delimited file. [Dir2Bat] 1.5 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) creates a batch file of commands and files matching your input file mask. This version is limited to batch files with four mathing file names listed. (Get PsL disk #1945 for similar, but uncrippled programs. Disk Drive Cleaner [CLEANER] (Rosenthal Engineering; $17) - software to be used with a head cleaning diskette. [Doc2Com] 1.3 (Gerald DePyper; $25) converts a text file to a COM file. [DVCPU] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) is a DesqView utility that is executed before running a program that requires full usage of the CPU's computing power. It pops up the DesqView window and sets "Share CPU when in Foreground" to "Y" or "N" depending on the parameter entered. [DVPrompt] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) makes it easy to give each DOS window opened in DesqView a different name so that you can tell them apart. [DVRun] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) is a batch file utility which sets ERRORLEVEL to 0, if DesqView is running or to 1 if it is not. [ExpndTab] 2.0 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) copies the file matching the source filespec to the destination filespec with any source file characters expanded into space characters into the destination file. (For similar freeware utilities, see PsL disk #1997.) [FeeFiFo] 1.4 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) enables the FIFO of a 16550A UART chip on the COM1 port. System Monitor [SYSMON] (Rosenthal Engineering; $49) monitors and reports problems early, maintains performance and resolves hardware/software and MS Windows conflicts. It has a strong virus defense, with support for single and LAN users. The program re-evaluates the system each time the computer is used by testing and extensively monitoring a number of performance and security indicators. -----October 1993 Small Utilities Disk #3 File Finder/Grouper 1.53 [FFG153] (Thomas G. Vavoso; $??) searches disks and archives for files based on flexible search criteria and it groups files for subsequent batch processing or cataloging. A large number of batch files have been included to invoke various program features/options. [Filler] 1.0 ($0) creates a file of a specified size on a drive. This is sometimes needed for testing purposes. "D" 4.01 [FOUND4] (Foundation Software; $15) is a colorful sorted directory utility. Features include embedded pattern matching, multiple filename patterns, and the ability to search a directory and all of its subdirectories as well as the entire disk. (Alternatives: PsL disk #0434 in U1_05.) [FSize] (John R Fryatt; $0) sets errorlevel to indicate if a specified file is less than, equal to or greater than a specified size. GMeter 1.3 [GMETER13] (Mike Chaney; $12) is a system benchmark program that tests the performance of your cpu, video and diskettes and tells you how many times faster than an XT your system is. [Lite] (Dale A. Nichols; $10) is a screen font with widely spaced dots. Log-a-drive 1.0 [LOGADRV] (Nathan Becker; $0) removes the annoying "Abort, Retry, Fail?" message that appears when you try to log on a drive with no disk in it by checking to make sure that there really is a disk in the drive before it logs on. (Also see PsL disk #2394.) Move 1.20 [MOVE12] (Andrew Hardej; $10) is a file moving utility. (See PsL disk #784 for similar freeware with better features.) [ParkHead] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) parks the heads of up to two hard disk drives to help prevent damage to the drive due to movement, power surges, etc. (Also see PsL disk #0842.) [PDel] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) securely deletes files so that they cannot be unerased. (Also see the freeware program XDel on PsL disk #1441.) [PrtScrFF] 2.3 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) appends a form-feed when you press PrtSc. This version appends a message to your print-out as a registration incentive. (For similar freeware utilities, see PsL disk #1036.) Tessler; $19) prints a specified range of lines from a file to screen or printer. RnDir 2.10 [RNDIR2] (Andrew Hardej; $10) renames directories. [RndScr] is a screen blanker (non-TSR) which displays random ASCII characters. [SDel] (Birken Software; $15) deletes files in a way that they cannot be unerased. [Searchit] 1.0 (Gary M. Sandow; $0) is a text search utility. Output can be sent to a file or printer, but not the screen. (Alternatives: PsL disk #4131.) See 3.01 [SEE301] (Jim Haas; $12) is a file viewing utility. [STView] .4 (Single-Touch Software; $5) is a menu-driven file viewing and printing utility. (See PsL disk #1550 for LIST and other file viewers.) [SetBeep] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) is a TSR which lets you change the beep the computer makes to a different tone. (See PsL disk #2006 for similar freeware utilities.) [TErase] 1.31E (pcBased Technologies; $0) deletes files matching the user input file mask, prompting before each file. You may also specify a search date or number of days from the current date as a filter for finding files to delete. [VesaMode] 1.0 (Jack Courtney; $0) sets any VESA mode supported by a video card. What Floppy Format? 1.7e [WFF17E] (Angel Babudro; $0) is a menu shell for Christophe Hochstatter's FDFormat (which is on PsL disk #2459). [XEROG] 1.0 (Tolgathian Software; $0) will copy parts of files starting with and ending on specified byte numbers. [XMenu] 1.0 (David M. Dibble, ASP; $12) is a fast and convenient shell for all major archivers. It supports LHA, PKZIP, ARJ, ZOO, PAK, PKPAK and ARC. [ZDir] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) reports the kilobytes contained in the files matching the file mask in one or more directories. -----Large Utilities Programs ---Quick Looks: AVScan [AVS116] (Tjark Auerbach; $0) is a virus scanner which can recognize 3100 viruses. BCMD 1.0 [BCMD10] (Thomas G. Hanlin, III; $30) is a set of enhanced DOS commands plus calendar, calculator and more. DOS Utility System 1.3 [DSUTIL] (Tom Donnelly; $20) is a set of 25 DOS utilities: move files, hide files, DOS clock, etc. FileList [FLIST] (Gosta Lovgren) gathers all the filenames on your hard drive or floppy, sorts and puts them in a single file. It then checks for duplicate names and puts them in a separate file. You can then read, print or search those files. This version is limited to 500 files. FxRepeat 3.1 [FXREP31] (DataChip) automates virus scanning with F-Prot (PsL disk #3675) at specified date/time intervals. (Update.) Get, Put, Install [PUT200] (Jim Haas, ASP; $19) is a software compression, decompression, and installation set. Locate 2.0 [LOC200] (Donald Ray Hutchins, ASP; $19) searches for files, optionally filtering for file attributes, date, time, size, and (under NetWare) owner, including ranges of date, time, or size. Other features include searching for text with file, flexible wildcarding, and building batch files or running commands based on the file search. Master Disk 2.0 [MASTER] (Rosenthal Engineering; $179) is a utility for testing and preparing a disk for disk duplication. It thoroughly verifies the disk, including unused areas. It replaces the boot sector and unused directory entries to make the disk more resistant to viruses. It embeds your company's name in the boot sector. PC Time Standard 2.0 [PCTIME] (Mark Bowler; $25) sets your system clock by calling the NIST. It also measures your clock's average drift and makes automatic adjustments. Other features include automatic DST adjustments, leap second adjustments, external event recording, and more. [Quilt] 1.32 (Cascoly Software, ASP; $20) is a non-TSR screen saver which uses quilting patters. Requires EGA/VGA. [Rocket] tests your IDE hard drive to see if it would benefit from the use of the commercial product, Drive Rocket. PiGAS Security 1.02 [PIGAS] (Pigas, Inc., ASP; $25) protects the information on your hard disk against unauthorized access. (Update.) Screen Saver 5.1 [SCSV] (Tom Donnelly; $23) blanks the screen on demand or after a specified period of system inactivity. Optional password protection is included. Secret Code 1.1 [SECCODE] (Eric Jarrett; $8) is a file encryption program. StrangeCryp 2.5 [STRNG25] (L. Weinman; $?) is a file encryption program. SuprMenu 5.1 [SMMENU] (David K. Rich; $35) is a DOS menu program with the general look and feel of Netware, although it can be used for non-network PCs just as easily. Virus Simulator [VIRSIM] (Rosenthal Engineering; $49) generates controlled programs infected with signatures of viruses. It compiles and infects with a safe virus, and is valuable for showing and evaluating anti-virus security measures without contamination of the system. Infected programs can be renamed and copied to other disks and directories as bait for virus detecting programs. [ZELLER] (B.J. Ball; $0) is a date program designed to be used for historical researchers. Ideal if you need to know which calendar (Gregorian or Julian) was used at the time in the country being considered. Depending on the calendar used can effect the historical dates in question. C source code included. ---Updates, Utilities: (U1-01: #27472/1261) Arcmaster 9.5 [ARCMSTR] is designed to make it easier to work with archive files. NEW: support for CD-ROM drives and the ability to direct printer output to LPT1 or LPT2. (U1-01: #3122) [ARJ] 2.41a is an archiving utility. ($40) (U1-01: #27472/2030) [SHEZ] 9.2 (ASP) is a shell program to make viewing and working with archive files user friendly. NEW: user defined printer support, file print support, ability to virus scan a highlighted directory from the DOS directory display window, support for ARJ 2.41, and the ability to convert a compressed file that is currently being viewed. (U1-02: #3675) [F_Prot] 2.09 scans disks, hard drives, and all network drives for viruses using one of 3 methods. NEW: detects and removes 202 new viruses. (U1-02: #3951) Integrity Master 2.01b [I_M201] (ASP) is an anti-virus and data integrity system. NEW: checks your CMOS memory for any changes and identifies 200 new viruses by name and characteristic. (U1-07: #0724) WSSIndex 5.27 [WSSI527A, WSSI527B] (Robert W. Babcock; $38) keeps track of files on floppy or hard disks. (U1-08: #27062/3541) CM_Filer 5.36c [CMFILE] (ASP) is a powerful file manager with a double directory display. (U2-01: #12555) ProMATHeus II 4.00 [PRMATH] ($45) is a calculator that lets you use variable names instead of just memory registers. (U2-02: #12504) DOSview 1.9 [DOSVIEW] is a 3k shell for DOS which displays two directory windows at the top of the screen while giving you a DOS prompt at the bottom. (U2-02: #27063 [2 disks]) HDM IV 4.60 [HDM460] (MicroFox Co., ASP; $39$54) is an excellent, flexible DOS menu shell. It has a 99-level security (U2-05: #12389) [BootSys] 2.01 makes it easy to reconfigure your system's CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. (U2-05: #3123) AutoCon 2.0i [AUTOCN] (ASP) makes it easy to maintain different system set-up configurations. NEW: DOS 6 support and the ability to select a longer time delay than 9 seconds.
