GA-08: Gambling ------------- 1907 Gambling Small Programs Disk ------------- Bingo Mania! 2.0 (BINGOMA) Himowitz, Michael J. $30 is a Bingo game manager. It picks numbers, displays them in huge letters on screen, tracks numbers called, prints out results, and keeps statistics on how many times each number has come up in order to demonstrate randomness. It also prints customized, random bingo cards. This is great for clubs and churches. Bio-Lotto (BIOLOT) Soleau, William $5-$10 will assist you in picking lottery numbers based on your personal biorythms. This is more like it. I personally get irritated by programs that purport to use mathematical analysis to foretell the results of a future random selection of numbers. Here's a program more to my liking -- if you're going to engage in voodoo, use voodoo; don't pretend to use science. After analyzing your chances of success based on your biorythms for the day of the lottery, it will generate number selections for you based on numbers that it deems to be "good" for you. Lottery2 (LOTTRY2) is designed to help you with the frustrating chore of choosing your lottery numbers. NJPick Dunrovin Services $3 is a set of programs and data for the NJ Pick-6 lottery. Included is a comma-divided text file of the winning PICK-6 numbers from inception to 5/25/89; a program to count and summarize the number of occurrences of each number and calculate a time-weighted value of occurrences; and other similar scientific analysis of unscientific occurrences (excuse our skepticism). The C code for these programs is included. Odds and Sods 1.0 (ODDS) Q&D Software Development $5 lets you figure the odds of any lottery game. Payoff Andrews, Scott $0 will help you make the decision whether to bet a horse to win, place, or show. You provide the track information and odds from the daily paper. Various charts and reports are available showing payoffs, etc. PCBingo Bielkiewicz, Mike $10 lets you run a bingo game with your PC. We've previously rejected another bingo game by a different author in which the computer marks the on-screen cards and all the player gets to do is sit back and push Enter. This program does it right. It prints out the cards and it's up to the players to pay attention to the numbers, just like real bingo. Up to eight cards can be printed on regular paper. RaceTrak 1.0 Margulis, Peter $3-$4 is a horserace game for up to 10 bettors. It closely simulates being at the track. You place bets, watch the race (with CGA or mono-graphics compatible video) and the computer keeps track of how much you've won or lost. The horses' names and odds are randomly generated and the results of the races are based on these odds. There are also varying track lengths and conditions that affect the results. The graphics are somewhat crude, but effective. The overall design of the program is very good, in our opinion. If you can't take the accompanying music, get SILENCER on disk 1-UT-270. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #1907 -------------------------------- Baseball Rotten Robbie's $PORT$-BB$ $50 #27739/4245 is a pro baseball handicapping program.
