The following files are included with the Library Reader package:

LIBRARY.EXE         The RFP Electronic Library Reader program.
LIBRARY.CFG         Not included in package. Will be created when
                      you first run the Reader program.
RFPELIB.PCX         An introductory graphic for the Reader.
PRINTER.DAT         Necessary for configuring your printer.
LIBRARY1-6.ICO      Electronic Libary icons for use with Microsoft
                      Windows 3.x.
CATALOG.MTP         A catalog of other Micro Tutor Products
ORDRFORM.MTP        An order form for Micro Tutor Products

                    (Please don't delete the Catalog or Order Form.
                     The Reader program expects them to be there.)



                       QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Change to the subdirectory that you selected during your Electronic
    Library installation.

2.  To run the Reader, type LIBRARY.
    To run the Reader without the VGA graphics, type LIBRARY /W.

3.  From within a book, F1 gives you the key definitions of the
    available functions, and / (a slash) gives you the pulldown Menu.

4.  The first time you read a book the table of contents for that book
    is displayed.  The next time you want to read the book, you are
    returned to the same place you left.


                              That's it!


                       DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS

All functions can be accessed either from the Menu (/) or by using the
appropriate Quick Key, given in parentheses below.


File
----

Previous Unit (Alt-P) -- This will take you to the previous "unit" of
   the book you are currently reading. If you are already at the first
   unit, this function will wrap you around to the last unit.

Next Unit (Alt-N) -- This will take you to the next unit of the book
   you are currently reading.  If you are already at the last unit,
   this function will wrap you around to the first unit.

Table of Contents (Alt-T) -- This will take you back to the Table of
   Contents, where you can select a particular unit of the current
   book.

Jump to Line (Alt-J) -- Go to a particular line number within the
   current unit of the current book.


Search
------

Unit (Alt-S) -- Use this function to search only the current book unit
   for the particular text string you are interested in.  You may
   designate the search to be either Case Sensitive or Case
   Insensitive.  (If you select Case Sensitive and search on "cheshire
   cat", the search will not find "Cheshire Cat".)  Note that there is
   a maximum of 100 "hits" for any one search.

Book (Ctrl-S) -- Use this function to search the entire book for the
   text string you are interested in.  As with the Unit search, there
   is a maximum of 100 "hits" for any one search.


BookMarks
---------

Drop (Alt-B) -- This function will put a bookmark at the current line
   of the current unit of the current book.  You will be asked to
   select a color for the bookmark, to distinguish it from other
   bookmarks in this particular unit.  There is a maximum of 5
   bookmarks allowed per book.  Each book's bookmarks are kept
   separately, so, for instance, you can have a Red bookmark in each
   book.

Remove (Alt-R) -- This function will remove one of your bookmarks.
   You will be asked for the particular color of bookmark to remove.

Goto (Alt-G) -- This function will take you to one of your bookmarks.

List (Alt-L) -- This will list all available bookmarks, along with
   their current status and location.


Printing
--------

Unit (Ctrl-U) -- This function will send the current book unit to the
   selected printer.

Book (Ctrl-B) -- This function will send the entire book to the
   selected printer.  Make sure you have plenty of paper!

Configure (Ctrl-P) -- Use this function to select the printer
   definition codes for your particular printer.

Test (Ctrl-T) -- This function will print one page, testing the codes
   for Bold, Italic, and Condensed printing on your printer.  We
   strongly suggest that you use this feature to test your
   configuration.


Other
-----

Information (Alt-I) -- This will give you a screen of data about how
   the RFP Electronic Library was developed.

Select Book (Ctrl-N) -- This will take you back to the initial menu
   where you can select a different book to read.

Exit Program (Ctrl-A) -- This is an immediate exit from the program.
   You can also "back out", step by step, by hitting the Esc key.

Catalog (Ctrl-C) -- Use this function to see a catalog of Micro Tutor
   Products software, current up to the date of this package.  You can
   send the catalog to your Monitor or to your Printer.

Order Form (Ctrl-O) -- Use this function to print out an order form
   for all Micro Tutor Products software available as of the date of
   this package.


                             USING A MOUSE

You can use any Microsoft-compatible mouse with The READING FOR
PLEASURE ELECTRONIC LIBRARY Reader.  Selection bars can be moved with
the mouse and selections made with the left mouse button.  In
addition, you can move through a book unit or a long menu by clicking
on the vertical bar on the right of the screen.  The help screen and
the Menu can be selected by clicking on the appropriate words at the
bottom of the screen.  Escaping from any menu, or the book display
screen, can be accomplished by pressing the right mouse button.
