This feature was a request from a registered user, and includes a clock and larger text. New Backlight option this turns on the Backlight as soon as you switch on, making it easy to see your reminders. New Reminder Count shows how many reminders you have. A brand new Icon - No longer a nasty PC style icon! Moved some options around on the menu bar. Fixed a bug in the Alarm dialog SIS Installation Simply double tap the Reminder.SIS icon on your screen and Reminder will go through its installation procedure automatically. If all goes well you should see Reminder's icon on the extras bar. ZIP Installation Install Alarm.SIS by double tapping its icon. It will go through its installation procedure. Create a new Folder on your Series 5 as shown below: C:\System\Apps\Reminder D:\System\Apps\Reminder Then unzip Reminder.zip and place all the files into the folder you have just created. You should have these files: readme.txt (this file) Reminder.aif Reminder.app Reminder.hlp Reminder.mbm If all goes well you should see Reminder's icon on the extras bar. Getting Started Select Reminder from the extras bar and wait a couple of seconds while it initialises the settings for the first time. You will be presented with Reminder's main screen from which changes to your reminders and preferences can be made. Select an option from the onscreen toolbar, the menu, or the hotkeys. This help file explains what each action does. Hide Hotkey Escape This option places Reminder on 'Sleep Mode'. This means that although you cant see Reminder on screen, it is still waiting in the background. You must select this mode if you want your Reminders displayed at switch on. When Reminder is sleeping you can Press Funtion-R to return to the main settings screen. Quit Hotkey Ctrl-E Duh... New Reminder Hotkey Enter Use this option to quickly add 1 reminder. It will be added to the top of the list. Edit Reminders Hotkey Ctrl-R Use this option to Add and Delete your Reminders, you can also change the order in which they will appear. You may use just 2 Reminders in the unregistered version. If you choose to register you can have up to 7 Reminders each 50 characters long. New Alarm Hotkey Ctrl-L REGISTERED USERS ONLY This option allows you to set alarms from within reminder, using the text from any reminder you wish. You can select any number of Reminders to make into alarms, and you may also add some extra text which will be shown at alarm time. The other options work pretty much the same as when setting an alarm from within the built in Time app. Background Options Hotkey Ctrl-O Use this setting if you want to use your own background graphics for the main screen and graphical reminder displays. If you choose to use your own background you can use any MBM file, as produced by selecting Export from the Sketch application. You can use any size graphic, it will be repeated to fit the available area. It will always be shown in 4 colour mode. Sound Options Hotkey Ctrl-S Use Bleeper Check this option to have a bleeper noise play every time your Reminders are displayed. It is most useful when used with the Timer options. Double Bleep Check this option to have a more interestin sound when Reminders are displayed, otherwise, you will hear justa single bleep. Pitch and Time Change these settings to change the sounds of the bleeper. You can use the Test button to hear your settings immediately. When you are happy with your settings press OK. Toolbar Hotkey Ctrl-T Use this option if you want to show or hide the onscreen toolbar. I recommend you leave it shown at all times. Preferences Hotkey Ctrl-K Use this option to decide how you want your reminders to be displayed. Display Type There are 2 different display types available for unregistered users, however if you choose to register you will unlock the 3 remaining options. Standard reminders are displayed one ata a time as flashing text messages in the corner of the screen. List (registered users only) shows all your reminders in a standard Series 5 dialog which you must press OK to hide. Reminder Window shows your reminders one at a time in a more graphical display, this option uses your custom background if you set this option. Reminder List (registered users only) is the same as above, but all reminders are shown on the screen at once. Full Screen (registered users only) is the same as above, but the entire screen is used and the text is larger. A clock is also included if you need to quickly check the time. Display Time This setting (depending on the Auto Advance setting - see below) determines how long each of your reminders will be displayed on screen. Auto Advance Leaving this setting in the unchecked state means that you will have to press any key to advance to the next reminder. If you have it checked then your reminders will be displayed for however long you set in the Display Time option. Alternate Corners This option only applies to the Standard Display setting and if checked your reminders will alternate between the top and bottom left corners of the screen. If it is unchecked the reminders will display only in the bottom left corner. Set Backlight On turns the backlight on immediately at switch-on. Use Timer Leaving this in the unchecked setting will cause Reminders to be displayed only at switch on. However, if you tend to leave your machine on for long periods you may wish to activate the timed Reminders. This setting uses the time set in the Timer Length setting, detailed below. Timer Length (minutes) If you have the Use Timer setting checked then your Reminders will be displayed after each time set with this option. You may set it up to 2 hours (120 minutes) Sound Prefs Pressing this button will cause Sound Preferences dialog to appear, see the help topic for more information. Registration Hotkey Ctrl-Z Use this option to enter your registration code, which will enable you to have up to 7 reminders and unlock the 3 remaining display types and the alarm setting option. If there is something you are not sure of then please feel free to email me at the address shown in the About section of this file. Future Additions List of future plans for Reminder (if I ever get round to updating this again!) Integrate with Agenda. Reminder will alert you of Agenda entries the day they are due. Play sound files instead of the current beeper. Reminder Categories. For example, if you had Home and Work categories, you could have the work items shown during the day, and Home items shown in the evening. New Graphics I get bored easily, so the next version of Reminder will feature all new graphics, let's hope we have colour screens by then! Problems If you have Owner Information or Password Potection on, then I can not guarantee that you will see all of your reminders. If this is the case, I'd welcome any suggestions as to how I could fix this problem. For the moment, I recommend that you could try using the Timer settings to Remind you more often. Thanks to Big thanks to Kevin Smotherman who has been a great friend to me and is also the author of Wordbox. He really should be credited as co-author, though he was far too modest to accept my offer. http://www.tconl.com/kevins And, I musn't forget my very helpful Beta Testers who really helped to improve Reminder and make and very useful application.
