RMR JOTTER PROGRAM README file Contents: 1. Introduction 2. File Details 3. Installation 4. Running the Program 5. Registration 6. Important Points to Note 7. What's new in V2.1 8. Other Programs from RMR Software 8. Licence Agreement INTRODUCTION Welcome to my 'Jotter' program for the EPOC Series of handheld computers. As it stands, this Shareware version is fully-working with no disabled functions, but will allow only a limited number of entries, to enable you to try the program out. Please note that registration does not involve reloading the program, but simply selecting the'Register' menu option and typing in a registration code to release the 'lock'. FILE DETAILS The archive file should contain files: RMRNotes.sis The program Readme.txt English Instructions (and other international Readme files) Once installed. you will see the program consists of the following essential files: (in \System\Apps\RMRNotes\) RMRNotes.app - The main program file RMRNotes.mbm - The icons used within the program RMRNotes.aif - The icons used in the System screen RMRNotes.rsc - The language resource file And the following optional files which you may have installed and can be deleted later: RMRNotes.hlp - Help File INSTALLATION To install the program simply double-click on the RMRNotes.sis file or select the "Install New Program" option in PSIWIN (EPOC Install). RUNNING THE PROGRAM Start the program by selecting the 'Extras' from the Application bar and then 'RMRNotes' If you fancy a challenge, you can learn everything you need to about the program by playing with it and checking the effect of each MENU selection, as well as the effect of pressing , , , or , in each screen, by observing the effect of touching various parts of the screen with the pen, and by reading the on-line Help file. However, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, at least read the rest of this file first, for some very important information. All comments and, of course, registrations, gratefully received. REGISTRATION If you wish to register the program, you can do so by post (snail-mail), or on-line using RegNet (credit cards). If you are using the postal service, please send a cheque (check) for 10 UK pounds or US$15 or 30DM or 15 Euros payable to 'RMR Software' (or the equivalent in 'real money' in your actual currency - no foreign currency cheques please), to one of the following addresses, including a stamped address envelope, or better still an E-Mail address, for the reply : RMR Software c/o 6000 Natick Court Burke, VA 22015 USA RMR Software c/o 46 Mortimer Road Kempston Bedford MK42 8RE ENGLAND RMR Software c/o PSIOlogic Versand Sudentenstrasse 46 D 63571 Gelnhausen GERMANY Please note that these are the addresses of my 'agents'. If you use these addresses, Registration codes will be sent out fairly quickly, but if you send a technical query, it will have to be redirected to me, so might take a few weeks to reply. If you have access, I can be reached quickly at support@rmrsoft.com If you wish to register using a credit card you can register on the WWW through RegNet, the Registration Network. RegNet can be reached by e-mail: orders@swregnet.com or on the World Wide Web: http://www.swregnet.com or in the USA by calling 1-800-WWW2REG (1 800 999-2734) or the easiest way is by following the links from my WWW Home page at: http://www.rmrsoft.com/ This program has been allocated the REGNET Number: 1328 and this should be quoted. Again, the notification tends to get to me within 12 hours and I reply within another 12 hrs. (Note that paying by this method will involve an extra US$5 handling charge) In each case, I (or my agent) will then send you a personalised registration code to enter (select the option via the Menu) to remove the 'nag' screen and allow full use of the program. Note that you will NOT need a new copy of the program, all the functionality is already there but just needs 'unlocking' by the registration code. I will also ensure that this code remains forward compatible for future versions of the program so, unlike other programs, I will not be asking for a further fee for an upgrade. IMPORTANT POINTS Please note the following: 1. The configuration file (RMRNotes.ini) and registration details (RMRNotes.reg) are saved in the same folder as the application files, but on the C: drive (C:\System\Apps\RMRNotes\), so don't be surprised if you lose that information (and registration) if you delete these files. 2. Please do NOT try changing the name of, or moving, a Group from the system screen just by renaming the document file. The title you use for a Group is used for all the data files, not just the one in the document folder. If you do wish to move or rename a Group, simply use the "Move group" or 'Save as' file command from within the Program. 3. I have provided a BACKUP and RESTORE option ( and in the main screen) to enable you to keep a COMPLETE copy of all your data files somewhere else on the system. Although there were only 2 recorded cases of complete data loss in S3ANOTES, I am not so arrogant as to say that the transfer to the 32-bit system was perfect and there isn't a 'bug' lurking in there waiting to trap the unwary. Personally I use this option every couple of days, as well as backing up regularly on a PC. I do think the program is safe, but even I still wouldn't trust it completely. Basically, if you lose some data and you haven't kept a backup of some description, don't expect any sympathy from me !! WHAT'S NEW INV2.1 ---------------------------- 1. Series 7/Netbook & Revo compatibilty 2. Note size increased to 2000 characters 3. Using 1/1/70 as a date now displays 'None' 4. Printing options expanded to allow printing of single, multiple or all notes, with or without the short description, and also to adjust the font size.
