============================================= STARDATE - V 2.1 for the Psion Series 5 & 5MX ============================================= The Sun is going Super Nova, you have 1000 days to explore the Solar System, exploit it's mineral wealth, and develop the technology to create Probes, Tugs, Bulk Cruisers, Mining Bases, and more. Your ultimate goal is to create a Space Ark fitted with Warp Drive so that mankind can survive amongst the stars. Includes high quality sound effects. Easy to play, but challenging to complete. Check out my web site for new versions & new games, from there you can download & register all of my programs. http://www.bjv.btinternet.co.uk/ ==== Note ==== This version of Stardate was developed by Ben Vaughan, from original code by Nick Dawkins. Stardate and all its constituant parts are Copyright Ben Vaughan. This version is smaller, faster, and requires less memory to run than the versions by Nick Dawkins, a number of bugs have been fixed, and the game now is more challenging and exciting due to the 1000 day time limit, and a few surprises I added. ============ INSTALLATION ============ Turn on your Series 5, press the System icon (bottom left of the screen), press the Menu key, under 'Tools' select 'Preferences', make sure that there is a tick next to 'show system folder' and click on 'OK'. Go into either C:\System\Apps\ or D:\System\Apps\ From the menu, under 'File' select 'Make new folder' name it 'Stardate'. Copy all the files except README.TXT into this directory. Pressing the 'Extras' button (bottom right of screen) will now reveal this programs icon, select it to begin. If Stardate does not run, try renaming its folder to a different name, wait a few seconds and then rename it back to the correct name. If you have difficulty with installation, re-read and follow carefully the above instructions, you have probably put the files in the wrong place, or named the folder incorectly. ================================= Upgrading from an earlier version ================================= If upgrading from Version 2.0, you need only copy Stardate.app and Stardate.aif into your stardate folder, overwriting the existing files, otherwise delete your previous version and then follow the installation instructions above. Please note that if you registered a version earlier than 2.0 (i.e. you registered with Nick Dawkins) you will need to register with myself (Ben Vaughan) in order to have the full version. =============== TROUBLESHOOTING =============== If you have a problem, check that your batteries are not low, and that there is plenty of memory available to the program. Sometimes the Series 5 fails to play sounds when batteries are becoming low, but are not quite low enough for the Series 5 to report them as low. If in doubt, change the batteries. Check that you have followed the installation instructions correctly. Check my web site to see if you are using the latest version of this program. http://www.bjv.btinternet.co.uk/ If you still have a problem after checking the above, send me an email, explaining the problem in as much detail as possible, stateing what machine you are running the program on, what version you are running, what files have been put where, at what point in the programs execution the error happened, and what error messages, if any, were given. My email address is bjv@btinternet.com =========== HOW TO PLAY =========== Full instructions are included in the program, just select 'How to play' from the menu. ============ REGISTRATION ============ Full instructions on how to register and details of cost are given within the program, just select 'How to Register' from the menu, you will be given a choice of registration methods and their prices, followed by full instructions to the method of registration selected. All my programs can be downloaded and registered via my website... http://www.bjv.btinternet.co.uk/ When you register you will receive a code that will enable this program to be used with your Series 5. The code is linked to the Unique ID of your Series 5, if for any reason a replacment code is required, one will be supplied free of charge. If you require further codes for any reason (including changes in your Series 5's Unique ID due to repair, or to replace a lost code), you will need to register for the new Unique ID. You will recieve a new code, and again be entitled to a replacement code if needed. The above policy is necessary to minimise piracy, and to keep the amount of time spent dealing with each registration to an acceptable level, which in turn, enables me to keep the cost of registration low. It took a long time to write this program, I hope you like it and will register so that I continue making programs for your enjoyment. Best wishes, Ben Vaughan.
