It answers a lot of questions and I agree with your points about the obsessive attention to every detail of the autopsy report. Although I am just like everyone else here and want more and more details, I do not think it is an unwholesome interest. It is a quest for knowledge. The excitement about the internet is that information can be obtained faster than anywhere else, and although some of it is rumour and not all of it is fact, we like sorting through it and judging for ourselves. I think most of us here would agree that the pre-packaged TV news programs about the case have been more exploitative than our free and rambling discussions of whatever aspects we want to study. It was the TV and magazines that exploited the pageant aspect and it was TV coverage that gave people the idea they could read guilt or innocence into John and Patsy's body language. Here on the internet we have just words and ideas and we can get obsessed with anything that comes along. The brainstorming that occurs is surely worthwhile at least as an intellectual exercise for those who like to solve problems. True, we are not detectives but it is satisfying to think that we can come up with clues and solutions that we hope the police have already found, and because we studied these clues and forumlated some of our own answers we have a vested interest in continuing to follow this case until it is solved. I don't think obsession with a dead child is any less valid than obsession with the other things which people talk about on the internet. I also think you and your friends have the absolute right to parody those of us who are already parodies and I have enjoyed many of your humourous posts. Not the mean-spirited ones but the ones that are incisive and deserved, to burst our balloons of hypocrisy and self-righteousness. I think the biggest objection to you and your cronies is not your desire for sarcasm and parody but that you printed personal information for the sake of being mean.
