Greetings gentles! We finally have an echo devoted to discussions of the
Current Middle Ages. Many of you may know me better by my alter-ego,
Tazmaniac. I have flagged this echo here so that users within the SCA may use
their SCA names rather than their normal handles, but I will leave the decision
to do that with the rest of the sysops and International...

The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international group dedicated to
studying Middle Ages by re-creation. You have probably seen members in your
local parks, dressed in armor, practicing broadsword and shield fighting. This
echo will be for the discussion of issues within the SCA, arts, sciences,
crafts, and local events in your area. I will also be posting new member
information here, as well as information from the Usenet SCA news group.

The area I live in (Cedar City, Utah) is known in the SCA as Kedron Vale. We
are a small but ambitious shire, and hosted last spring's Atenveldt Crown
Tourney (and feast for 120). I personally joined the SCA in A.S. 9, dropped
out after about 10 years, and have recently become active again. I am the
Chronicler for our shire.

I look forward to hearing from all of you!
