 AB    OBJECTIVE: Various rheumatic manifestations have been reported in AIDS
       patients but the prevalence of these manifestations is not well know. To
       determine the incidence musculoskeletal opportunistic infectious in AIDS
       patients. MATERIAL: 3300 AIDS patients diagnosed at Gaffree e Guinle
       Hospital between 1988 and 1993. This, only seven cases of septic
       arthritis in HIV infected patients, although in two patients it was
       associated with pyomiositis and osteomyelitis. METHODS: We studied
       synovial fluid and synovia biopsy was realized by needle Polley-Bickel.
       RESULTS: The knee was involved in four patients; shoulder in two; and
       ankle and wrist in one of them. Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium and
       Acynetobacter calcoaceticus were isolated in synovial fluid.
