AB OBJECTIVE: An ethnobotanic contribution to the study of AIDS. The role
of Phytotherapics made with medicinal plants whose active principles
stimulate the immunologic system, helping to counteract the
opportunistic symptoms of deceases that occur in individuals that are
HIV positive. METHOD: Around 2,500 people with AIDS volunteered to take
these phytotherapics. Men, women and children diagnosed with AIDS have
been taking phytotherapics since 1982 and the results have been quite
satisfying. Most of them have been able to improve their physical life
quality. RESULTS: From the 2,500 people--some gave up the treatment,
some have died and some have temporarily suspended the treatment. The
ones that have continued the treatment have been able to maintain a
       desirable life quality.
