AB OBJECTIVE: Impact of HIV/AIDS epidemic in hospitals of Andalucia Health
Service (SAS), Spain. METHODS: Andalucia has a population of 6,919,750,
and a public and free Health Service. From June/92, every six month, we
are made cross-sectional prevalence studies in 16/30 of SAS-hospital
(81% of the hospitaly resources). All the patients with previous
diagnosis of HIV infection were included. We evaluated all the
in-patients in one specific day of June and December 1992-93
(J92,D92,J93,D93). Among the out-patients we only evaluated those in the
Internal Medicine, during a specific week of the same months. Data were
collected confidentialy with a code to avoid duplications. RESULTS: In
the table: (V:HIV, Out/In:out/in-patients, IM: Internal Medicine.
TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of
HIV/AIDS patients in andalousian hospitals is currently elevated (In
       Inter.Med one among 9 in-patients and 4.5 out-patients). The HIV in
out-patients is increasing, we recommend a structural change in the
health care; promoving the primary health care, home intensive care and
       day hospital.
