Some information regarding faxing with Windows for Workgroups:

>From working with several of our customers along with Microsoft
Technical Support, we have deduced the following parameters/changes from the
original installation:

Most changes are in the file called "EFAXPUMP.INI", which is found in
the main Windows directory.

A list of the new parameters and what they do:

Under the [MODEM] header, you can add:

"LOG=1" - This tells Windows for Workgroups to create a log of events when
transmitting or receiving. To decode it, you have to send it directly to
Microsoft and wait for them to get back to you.

Under the [COMx] header (it will specify your specific COM port number, for
example [COM2]):

"FIXMODEMCLASS=1" - Tells Windows for Workgroups that you are operating a Class
1 fax modem. Courier owners with Class 2.0 capabilities do not need to have
this command. It automstically detects Class 2.0 upon installation.
"ENABLEV17SEND=1" - Enables v.17 14400 fax transmit.
"ENABLEV17RECV=1" - Enables v.17 14400 Fax receive.
"SETUPCOMMAND=" - This is the setup command used in At Work Fax. For
Sportsters, the "S36=0" is required, even for 9600 transmit and receive. I
would suggest "AT&F&H2&I2S36=0" as the init string for Sportsters. For
Couriers, "AT&F&H2&I2" will do.

Under the [MESSAGE] header (create one if it does not already exist), you can
specify the amount of retries that will take place. The interesting thing about
this particular parameter is that it does not specify the amount of retries
after a busy, or failed connection, or whatever, it specifies the amount of
retries in one fax transmission or reception before aborting. For example, if
it detects an error in transmission, it will request to retransmit one section
of the fax or message. If this amount of retransmissions is over this specified
amount, then it will abort. So far, typical retries seems to be around 2 per
page.  The command parameter:

"RETRIES=20"
