Player's Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To play this scenario and enjoy it, you'll have to work with me.  The inherent limitations of the Pro Mission Builder sometimes thwarted me, but if you use your imagination, I hope you will enjoy this series of missions and the accompanying story line almost as much as the original campaign. Any technical mistakes are mine, but perhaps the "willing suspension of disbelief" will take over, and you will become part of the world of Col. Reginald "Eagle" Carter, Ret. (but oh, so actively retired!)
Copy the mission files (*.m) and mission text files (*.mt) to your USNF directory.  Play the missions from the Play Single Missions button, not the Mission Builder.
The storyline will assume the appropriate characters and planes survive, so try to keep 'em breathing!
Most importantly ---DON'T READ AHEAD!!!!!!!!  The scenario is structured to surprise and challenge you.  Follow the directions in the misison explicitly  Hey, if you have to cheat, maybe you're not the hotshot pilot you thought you were...
Two more points.  First, at MiG Eater1's suggestion, I play at -33% magnification.  This makes it less claustrophobic and is more realistic.  Second, there is a known bug with the flaps.  When the flaps are down, the Flight Path Indicator does not accurately reflect the plane's vector.  When it indicates that you are flying horizontal or climbing, you could be dropping like a stone.  Many people suggest leaving them in the stowed position for the campaign missions.  However, since take-offs and landings on runways will require flaps (especially for the F-104), be aware that the FPI *lies*.
The only "payment" I require is that you give me feedback at the above e-mail address.  Things you liked, hated, thought were too hard or easy, ancient Eastern philosophical quotes, whatever.
One apology:  I wrote the scenario from a male perspective.  If there are enough female jet-jockeys out there, I suppose I could write another one with a lady (or at least a female jet pilot!) in mind.  Let me know!
I hope you enjoy.  May your enemies always have an aspect of 0 and your missiles fly true...
Notes on Version 1.1
Multiple many thanks to Chris DePalma (CRDEP@aol.com) for the fantastic job in converting the original missions into the Mission Brief and Debrief format.  Also, all of the Mission Failure screens are essentially his.  The following notes are from his introduction...
Alright Listen up USNF junkies and junketts. Now I (CRDEP) have enhanced this 12 mission series with MISSION TEXT. First of all probably the most important thing. Ya know with Mission Briefing MISSION SUCCESS AND FAILURE DEBRIEFINGS. Also I added some detailed Mission Objectives and a few other resourses for you to enjoy the game. Now here is the deal. Your First Mission will give you an introduction and then the First Mission. Now if you want this game to be fun and challenging PLEASE DO NOT CHEAT. Do not skip ahead on missions and do not advance missions unless you beat the ones before them. Also follow the directions. This is to make the game more exciting. If you do this it will create awesome views and unexpected surprises. If not you are just cheating yourself and you will not enjoy the game. You do not even deserve it if you cheat. In real life you would do exactly what your mission calls for so pretend you are actually there. THANK YOU AND ENJOY.
