AB Although chronic drug therapy with antiretroviral agents and
chemoprophylaxis has led to longer survival without disease, high rates
of adverse reactions to agents used to treat HIV infection have been
reported. The incidence of adverse drug reactions in patients with HIV
infection varies with the type of drug therapy, dosage, drug-to-drug
interactions, and the stage of HIV infection. This article discusses
recognition, treatment, and prevention of adverse reactions to specific
       drugs and classifications of drugs.
