BACKGROUND

This Software replaces SLIPDIAL.EXE and its accessory programs.

UMSLIP.COM replaces SLIP8250.COM
PHONE.EXE replaces SLIPDIAL.EXE
                             X00.SYS
                             All Script Files

This New software distribution was designed to elminate the need
for the X00.SYS serial device driver and provide a more user
friendly interface for SLIP access. A complete packet driver
interface was written to better adapt to SLIP connections and
slower serial chips. It is now easier and more intuitive when
running software with SLIP. SLIP.BAT is designed to call all
the accessory programs in the SLIP distribution:
PC Gopher (Provides access to distributed information)
NCSA Telnet (Enables users to open direct terminal sessions)
FTP (File Transfer Protocol, useful for transfering files)
POPmail (Graphical User Interface for reading electronic mail)
