-- CompuServe Companion for Zaurus Plug-in Addendum -- Welcome to the CompuServe Companion for Zaurus plug-in. This plug-in adds three new features to your built-in CompuServe Companion software; Weather, Stock Quotes, and Auto Pilot. Please read all of the instructions below before using this software. These instructions are meant to supplement the CompuServe section of your ZR-5700/5800 instruction manual. Note: This software plug-in is for ZR-5700 and ZR-5800 users only. ZR-5000 users should purchase the ZR-5C03 CompuServe software. - Installing the CompuServe Companion Plug-in (From a PC) - Installation requirements: To install this software, you need the following: > An IBM compatible PC running DOS version 3.3 or higher with 512KB of available memory or a PC running Windows 3.1/95. > A cable or infrared adaptor that connects the PC to your ZR-5700/5800 > One serial port (COM1 or COM2). You can install add-on software into Zaurus main memory, an SRAM memory card, or a FLASH memory card. Memory requirements: > About 300K of available memory on your Zaurus or memory card (once installed, it only takes up about 250K of memory). > At least 64K of additional available memory from your Zaurus main memory is required for installation. Installing the software: 1. Make a directory on your hard drive called "CCZPLUG". 2. Move the install.exe, flasinst.dat, and cczpv101.zpm files to this directory. 3. From within this directory, Type INSTALL and then press Enter. 4. Check the options, pressing S if you need to change them. 5. Put the Zaurus into PC-Link mode and connect the cable or IR adaptor 6. Press Y to begin the installation. This will take about 10 minutes. Note: To find out the available memory of the program area on a FLASH memory card touch MORE then select IC Card. If the available memory is not enough, perform the delete operation. If no program area is set when a FLASH memory card is initialized, the Add-on software cannot be installed. - Using the new features - Once installed, you will see a new CompuServe icon in the S'Ware section of MORE. This icon is here simply to let you know it is installed and to allow you to delete this plug-in if desired. You cannot, however, run this software by tapping on it (as you normally do for Zaurus add-on software programs). You simply run CompuServe from the TOOLS section as you normally would and if this plug-in is installed, the new features will automatically appear. Note: If you install this CompuServe Companion Plug-in on a memory card and the remove the card, the new features (Weather, Quotes, and Auto Pilot) will be disabled until you reinsert the card. The preference/setting information and data will be preserved during a card removal and reinsertion. - Weather Reports - Reading a weather report on-line: 1. While on-line, touch Weather from the main screen. 2. Select to see the local weather, or type a different location. Then touch Go. 3. To save the weather reports, touch SEND and select "Save to IN... ." Reading weather reports off-line: 1. From the IN tray, select the Weather tab. Then touch an entry twice to see the weather report. 2. To see other reports, touch PREV or NEXT. To convert reports to a Zaurus document: 1. Touch EDIT, then select "Convert to Document... ." - Stock Quotes - Specifying a stock to quote: Before you can see stock quotes of a company, you must add the company name to the CompuServe Access Software, as follows: 1. From the main screen, touch Quotes. 2. Touch Add. 3. Type the company name and its ticker symbol. Then touch Go. Getting stock quotes on-line: 1. While on-line, touch Quotes from the main screen, then touch Go. 2. To see the details, touch an entry twice. Touch PREV or NEXT to see other stocks. 3. To save the stock quotes, tag, the desired entries, then touch SEND and select "Save to IN... ." 4. Set the Save options, then touch OK. Reading stock quotes off-line: 1. From the IN tray, select the Quotes tab. Then touch an entry twice to see its details. 2. To see other Quotes, touch or . To convert Quotes to a Zaurus document: 1. Touch EDIT, then select "Convert to Document... ." - Auto Pilot - The Auto Pilot function allows you to automate tasks you often perform using the CompuServe software for Zaurus. You simply specify which tasks you want it to do for you as well as the parameters for these tasks. This feature will save you time and connection costs. Setting up: You must setup the Auto Pilot function before you can use it, as follows: 1. From the main screen, touch Auto Pilot. 2. Touch Set up. 3. Select a tab: Mail, Forums, EMS, Quotes, or Weather. 4. After making any necessary changes, touch OK. NOTES: > You can specify up to five forums at one time for the Auto Pilot function. > Auto Pilot will check various preferences from each CompuServe feature (Mail, Forums, ENS, Weather, and Quotes) and use these preference during your Auto Pilot session. > Auto Pilot will also check the Forum preference "Auto delete IN-Tray forum messages upon next receive." If this is checked, Auto pilot will delete all forum messages currently in the IN Tray before each Auto Pilot session. Using the Auto Pilot function: 1. From the main screen, touch Auto Pilot. 2. If necessary, tap to select or deselect the tasks you want Auto Pilot to perform. 3. Touch Start to begin. 4. Once connected, the Auto Pilot function will automatically perform the selected tasks. A status dialog will appear showing you which operation the Auto Pilot is currently working on. You can cancel the Auto Pilot session at any time by pressing ON. Reviewing the results: Once the Auto Pilot session is complete, touch the IN icon from the main screen. From there, touch each tab to review the newly downloaded information. You can also check the session report to see exactly what was downloaded (see below). Viewing the Session Report off-line: This report allows you to review a log of what Auto Pilot did during the last session, including any errors or problems that may have occurred. 1. From the main screen, touch Auto Pilot. 2.
