THIS README APPLIES TO v1.81F OF PASSAGN! PassAgn 1.81F is a Shareware Password Protection program for the Agenda Application of the Psion S3a AND S3c. It has been written in OPL and will work ONLY on the Psion 3a/3c - NOT the new Siena Models ********************************************************* ********************************************************* *The author of PassAgn 1.81F makes can not guarantee * *future upgrades of the program. He [P.K.Spencer of * *Aylesbury] will accept no responsibility for any damage* *which occurs to either you or your system whilst using * *the program! I ALSO ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE * *LOSS OF DATA WHILST YOU ARE USING MY PROGRAM. * *I makes no wild claims that the program will protect * *your Agenda Files in every situation, so if the program* *doesn't protect your data for any reason, don't blame * *me. You use PassAgn at your own risk. You have the * *authors permission to freely distribute the ZIP * *file AS LONG AS ALL THE CONTENTS REMAIN AS IN THE * *ORIGINAL. * ********************************************************* ********************************************************* Right, now all the disclaiming stuff is out of the way lets get down to it :-) Contents *********** This ZIP file should contain the following: Readme.txt (this file) Pasagn3a.opa (the program for the Psion 3a) Pasagn3c.opa (the program for the Psion 3c) ************* *NEW IN V1.8* ************* *PASSWORD ENCRYPTION!!!* Installation ************ This is very straight foreward, simply put the .OPA you need in any directory (on any disk), preferably \app, and use Psion-I from the system screen to install it. Before installation, you MUST remove the Psion's own Agenda App (Psion and / over the app's icon) so that any unsuspecting person would think that my prog is the real Agenda App and also because both programs report the same name ("Agenda") to the System. From then on treat it as the normal Agenda App. If you have a Psion 3a, use "PASAGN3A.OPA", if you have a new Psion 3c, use "PASAGN3C.OPA" ************************************************************ * PLEASE NOTE * ************************************************************ *A un-ambiguos file named Agenda.ini will be created in * *the \OPD directory of your internal drive. This stores * *the password you have chosen. However, since the password * *is encrypted, it's not as un-safe as it sounds! * ************************************************************ About the Prog ************** I wrote this prog because I wanted to have some form of protection for the Agenda App on my Psion. Simple as that really. I then thought that once I had got it into an acceptable state that it would be of use to other Psion users About the Author **************** P.K.Spencer is a 16 year old from Aylesbury. He has very little OPL experience and is learning to write programs. This is one of his first attempts. The Prog appears to have no bugs but if you find any or have any comments/suggestions for future versions then I welcome your input either by: E-Mail on nicko@nildram.co.uk or 106023,676 on CIS OR at 10 Prebendal Court Oxford Road Aylesbury Bucks HP19 3EY You can find updates of PassAgn and my other programs on my web page at: http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~nicko/index.htm Registering *********** PassAgn 1.81F is distributed as Shareware. To register on Compuserve, GO SWREG 11899 or send 5 UKP to the above address with either your E-Mail address so I can mail the code to you or with a an SAE. This code will disable the nag screens, pauses, etc. 5 UKP isn't a lot to register and it'll help me develop future versions (and other programs). I don't have much time free as I'm doing my GCSE's so I need an incentive :-) How to Use PassAgn ****************** The first time you run PassAgn you will be asked for a password you wish to use and also to re-enter the same password for confirmation. You will then be passed on to the start-up screen. This is the screen you will encounter from now on when you enter the program again. Here you will have to enter the password you defined before. You have the option to configure. If you select NO - Agenda will be launched with the file chosen or created from SYSTEM. If you select YES - you get passed to the menu. The options here are a)Start Agenda b) change password and c)Delete Agenda File (all under the "Agenda" menu card.) These are fairly self-explanatory. When you select "Start Agenda", Agenda is launched as before with the selected file from the System Screen. The next Card (called registration) allows you to either enter the registration key code or read how you go about registering. Finally is the "Special" Card. Here you'll find the about screen, the help and the exit command. From then on everything is very simple :-) FULL, ONLINE HELP IS AVAILABLE BY PRESSING HELP AT ANY TIME IN THE MENU OR CONFIGURE SCREEN. NOTE: If you switch away from the configure screen then PassAgn requires you to re-enter the PassWord. Features ********* -PassAgn provides a user defined password that blocks entry to the Agenda program if a person trys to access it via my app -Easy changing of the password for your convenience -Stops new .AGN files being created without the normal password -Online Help -Password encryption - the only (AFAIK) prog of its type available at the moment to do so! -Plus more - explore the program :-) Other Programs by Me ******************** Have you tried TimeMan? This excellent and easy to use collection of Time related/time managment utilities proves useful to almost every Psion user. The latest version is 3.42F and the .zip is only about 40K - so why not download it from all the usual sources and of course from my wwb page - go one, give it a try!
