Note: This is a demo version of HandFax 1.0, fax-sending software for
3Com/US Robotics PalmPilot connected organizers.

I. INSTALLATION
===============================================================================

Thank you for taking the time to evaluate HandFax. This version is for 
testing purposes only, and therefore behaves just a bit differently than 
the real version...

In particular, the demo puts the Smartcode Software logo and a big
HandFax logo on the cover page, and it only sends the first 2 lines of
memos that you attach (the rest of the second page contains a HandFax
fact sheet). Sorry for the inconvenience.

To install the product on your Pilot/PalmPilot:

1.  Place the Pilot/PalmPilot in its cradle, and connect the cable to your 
    Windows or Macintosh desktop computer

2.  Copy the file HFDemo.prc to your hard disk (or install it directly 
    from the floppy drive)

3.  Start the application InstApp.exe (Windows) or InstallApp (Macintosh)
    on your desktop computer. Use the Browse button to locate and select
    the file HFDemo.prc

4.  Your selection will be confirmed, and HandFax will be copied to your 
    Pilot/PalmPilot next time you run HotSync

Perform a HotSync to load the application onto the Pilot/PalmPilot:

1. Start the HotSync Manager application in your desktop computer

2. Press the HotSync button on the Pilot/PalmPilot cradle to 
   begin file transfer

II. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
===============================================================================

HandFax  may be used with all 3Com/U.S. Robotics Pilot 1000, 5000, and 
PalmPilot-series personal organizers.

Approximately 70 Kb of free system  memory are needed for the 
application

This package contains:

  - The HandFax .prc file to install on your Pilot or PalmPilot
  - A User manual in Adobe Acrobat format
  - This README file

This is a demo version of the first commercial release. There is no 
expiration date.
