1. Welcome Welcome to J-OS1.9 . J-OS contain a group of applications and data which enables PILOT to handle Japanese. To run J-OS, you need ELISAL10.ZIP package . If this archive doesn't contain it,Get it also where you get this package. if you can read Japanese(Include KANJI), go to section 2 if you can't go to section 3 2. When you can read Japanese. You can display Japanese on PILOT by installing ELISA.prc and J-viewer.prc(Get where you get J-OS). Follow the steps and read included documents on PILOT. (1) Install "ELISA.prc" and "J-Viewer.prc'" by InstApp on PC. (2) Open "README.TXT", "INPUT.TXT","J-Address.TXT","J-OS.TXT","J-Viewer.TXT" by text editor( a la Notepad or WordPad) (3) Select all and Copy (4) Go to PILOT Desktop (5) Make new memo (6) Paste (7) go to (2) until all *.txt is done (8) Hot Sync! (9) Launch J-Viewer on PILOT and see the memo you crated on Desktop (10) Enjoy! 3. When you can't read Japanese (1) Programs and data There's 6 programs and data. ELISA : Japanese Font. Essential. dic-s: Kana to Kanji conversion dictionary. Essential when using J-OS dic-m: Kana to Kanji conversion dictionary. Essential when using J-OS ( Has more entry than dic-s.I recommend to use this if there's enough memory) J-OS: Japanese OS for Palm OS. Enables all applications to display and input Japanese. you need HackMaster,ELISA and dic-s to use J-OS. Use JOS10 if you are PILOT1000/5000 user, Use JOS20 if you are PalmPilot user or using PalmPilot Pro upgrade card. HackMaster: Extension Control program by DaggerWare. Shareware. Included in this package for users convenience. (2) Install I recommend to install following programs and data. It spends 165kbyte total .So you need at least 512K model.If memory is small, install dic-s instead of dic-m. This set requires about 110kbyte. J-OS, ELISA, dic-m, HackMaster After Installation, go to HackMaster and check J-OS on. (3) Japanese Input. In a situation where you can enter characters( when cursor is blinking) You can open "Japanese INPUT Panel" by the same action which opens soft keyboard( so you can't use soft keyboard when J-OS is on). Choose "Keyboard" from "Edit" menu or draw line from Graffiti area to top of screen. when Japanese INPUT panel is open , you can enter Japanese by Graffiti. try these letters by Graffiti( _ means space) nihongono_nyuuryoku_ there appears Japanese KANJI( means "input of Japanese"). Push OK button to enter these characters into field(like memo). (4) Input rules When you input letters by Graffiti, They are translated into HIRAGANA by way of ROMAN-KANA conversion rules automatically. you need to enter Japanese word by word. You need to enter delimiter after each word. There's 3 kind of delimiters. space ....convert preceding word into KANJI /...............convert preceding word into HIRAGANA or KATAKANA \...............keep preceding word in Alphabet +...............convert preceding word into KATAKANA when Kanji conversion is failed, you can re-convert Kanji by tapping on Kanji. all candidates will appear. you can always edit field . enter delimiter to change words break. final lesson.: enter these letters by Graffiti( _ means space) hiragana,/katakana,+kanji,_Alphabet\no/nyuuryoku_ Read input.txt for details.
