. GRAPHTIME-II Plotter Drivers Plotter types supported: All A3/A4 plotters with HP7400 series HP-GL capability. Capabilities: Two plotter modules are available; one for the DRAW program and one for the GRAPH program. The GRAPH plotter driver currently outputs all graph types with the exception of the Area, Gantt and 3-D Block chart. The DRAW plotter driver outputs all drawing elements except pattern fill for irregular areas and fonts 1-7. (Pattern fill is available for frames, dots and circles.) Connecting plotter: The Plotter is assumed to be connected to printer port: LPT1:. If a serial port is used then redirect output by using startup command: GTC1 for serial port COM1, or GTC2 for serial port COM2. (Instead of GT). Baud rate currently =4800. (Modify the GTC1.BAT or GTC2.BAT files to change serial port parameters. Use any text editor or the GRAPHTIME text editor.) To load plotter driver, startup GRAPHTIME-II in the normal way and select DRAW or GRAPH. Then place the Plotter Drivers (on PLOTTER disk #3) in drive A: (If on hard disk (C:), the plotter drivers should already be available). From GRAPH program: To select GRAPH plotter driver enter: DP [Draw Plotter] From DRAW program: To select DRAW plotter driver enter: GP [Graph Plotter] Set Up [PS] (This should be selected before any other plotter command). Output selection: Graph: Outputs HPGL direct to plotter or to a file (name.GTG). Printer: The HPGL file created can be output to an EPSON/IBM graphics printer in higher resolution than a screen-print. External: Output HPGL file for transfer to other systems. e.g. Ventura Paper size can be A3 or A4. Each graph can be scaled in the range 1 to 100. Headings and free-text can be output in 9 sizes and 8 colours. Number of Pens: 1 to 8 Colours: 1:Black, 2:Green, 3:Red, 4:Yellow, 5:Cyan, 6:Magenta, 7:Orange, 8:Pink (If White is selected (ALT/W or ACGW) then pen 1 is used.) Pen velocity:(cm/sec) 1-100 [Fast]: The default will set the plotter to full pen speed and acceleration. To plot on foil use range 5-15. Maximum speed on an HP7475A is 38.1. GRAPH Plotter driver: When the GRAPH plotter driver is loaded, the Print to Printer command is not available The "*" is replaced by "P", and "Plot" replaces "Print" on the command line. Plotter command (P): Type: P then select: A (Append), C (Create), D (Direct), E (End), J (Join), L (List), R (Run) or S (Setup). Note: The Plotter Setup [PS] menu will be automatically entered if any of the plotter commands are used first. Setup [PS]: Select Graph plotter, Printer or External, then for plotter or external, also select paper size [A4], scale (1 to 100)[70], Rotation [0] or 90 degrees, Heading and Free-text size (1 to 9)[2], number of pens (1-8[6]) and pen velocity (1-100 or [Fast]). Setup may be used at any time to change parameters. Colour selection: In the Graph program use ACxc to select colour prior to selecting the first graph command and AFTER selecting Plot Create, Append or Direct. Text:ACTc Graph:ACGc Frame:ACFc e.g. ACTR (Selects Red text for all subsequent text.) For multiple graphs and Pie/Bar charts, the colours will automatically increment until the last pen, then cycle from the first pen (pen 1). In the Draw program, use ALT/T to select text colour. Free text (headings etc): In the free-Text mode in the DRAW program, (T command) the plotter can be treated like a typewriter. Cursor keys and backspace are active. The Draw Text command [DT] in the GRAPH program also allows text files to be plotted. Append [PA]: Append all subsequent graph-producing commands to those already in an existing plotter disk file. The first character of menu line changes from P to: A Create [PC]: Start a new plotter file. Once this command has been selected, the first character of the menu line changes to: C All subsequent graph commands will produce plotter driver commands and output them to the disk file. These commands are then immediately (or later) output to the plotter (or printer) with the PR command. To exit Create mode, type: PE (Plot End). The plotter commands are saved in the disk file (name.GTG). (Note: If Setup (PS) has not previously been selected, the Setup menu will appear first. Then follow Setup with the PC command.) Direct [PD]: All subsequent graph commands will output directly to the plotter as well as the screen. (Not applicable if outputting to a printer.) Terminate with the PE command. The first character of the menu line changes to: D End [PE]: Turns off plotter output either to disk or direct. All subsequent Graph commands will only appear on the screen. Any file being created or appended will be closed. Join [PJ]: Join plotter files on disk together. ( A library of plotter files can be created and joined to form new files.) List [PL]: List on screen the contents of a plotter command file (HPGL). To pause the list, press SPACEBAR. SPACEBAR to continue. To terminate the list before the end, press Esc then . Run [PR]: Outputs plotter commands from a disk file to the plotter. You may choose to use the saved parameters ([F]ile) or those input with the last Setup command (Current). (i.e. Paper size, scale and rotation can be altered just prior to runtime.) Notes: 1. An existing screen image cannot be output to the plotter. It must first be generated with the Plot Create/Append command. 2. If Printer had been selected in the setup, the PR command will automatically output to an Epson/compatible printer. To return to the GRAPH program, enter the DG (Draw Graph) command. Use the DD command to transfer directly to DRAW plotter driver. Pie chart notes: For best results, use thicker pen (0.7mm) for pen 1. CGA Screen: Must be set up in low resolution (320x200) to allow colour selection. EGA screen must be in high resolution (640x350). Once the Pie plotter file has been created, use Plot Append to add further text, border etc. Dot and Bubble Charts: When creating a plotter file (or Direct), the dots can be Open [O], filled with a cross-hatch pattern [P] or solid fill [S]. DRAW Plotter driver: When the DRAW plotter driver is loaded ([GP] from the DRAW program), the menu header [DRAW] is replaced with "P DRAW". A number of the Draw commands are not available for the plotter: These are the Block ,Paint and Rubout commands. (Fonts 1-7 are also not available.) All plotter control commands are Px where x is A (Append), [C](Create), D (Direct), E (End), J (Join), L (List), R (Run), and S (Setup). These are identical to the GRAPH equivalents. Note: Files and commands created by the Graph program can be joined/appended to files created by the Draw program and vice versa. September 19, 1988
