The following is a short description of each program contained on this disk. Please note that some programs do require a color monitor. Each program was found to be very well written and easy use. GRADE.COM: This program is the demo version of the Register package. Please note that the demo version is fully functional, but the registered version contains many extended features. Written by a teacher for teachers and tested in the classroom. The program is primarily intended for junior and senior high school teachers; however, college teachers can find it useful also. These instructors do not have to worry about the concept of working in "quarters," nor will they be likely to use the progress reports; but the computational parts of the program will prove useful. In this program, grades are entered in a structured format and teachers can keep track of each student's marks via a database of students' scores. Reports can be generated and modifications of the database are available. Register contains a well written documentation file about 40k. Requirements for Register: PC/XT or true compatible (untested on AT), DOS 2.xx or higher, 1 DSDD drive, 128 K, mono or color graphic card, RGB monitor recommended, printer (dot matrix recommended). STAR.BAS is a program which maps the night sky as seen from any point on earth at any time. This program would be much improved if you use IBM's Basic Compiler, but I don't have it myself. STAR.DAT is a database of about 200 star locations and magnitudes used by STAR.BAS. MENU.BAS is a program which will bring the user into three wonderfully written educational programs, Name That Planet, Multitime, and Historomania. Written by Atlas Software, these programs each contain color graphics and fine computer-student interaction. In Name That Planet, each planet in our solar system is displayed on the screen in color and graphics and the student is to name the planet. Planet relative size and placement are displayed as hints. Historomania is a history trivia quiz program with different levels of difficulty. Lastly, Multitime will drill students on multiplication factors. Each program can be run from the master menu which selects each from a nice graphic image of the atlas; this program has color, graphics and sound. PC Software Interest Group (PC-SIG) 1030D E.
