This may fix a problem with a few nodes which refuse to acknowledge ctrl-C In order to permit the packing of USERID.CIS files with lists of Easyplex recipients, some error checking has been relaxed. As a result, semicolons are illegal characters in that file, unless used to string Easyplex addresses together. A semicolon in USERID.CIS for any other reason is likely to generate an online error. ====================================================================== Upgrading to 5.2 ====================================================================== ********************************************************************** This disk contains a copy of the standard USERID.CIS file and the RATES.CIS file. If you already have one of these files on your disk, do NOT copy these files over, or you will lose the changes you have made to your address book and CompuServe Rates file. Be sure to follow the directions in the manual on Upgrading to 5.2 and read the section on new features in this version. You will use the PARAMS.CIS file from TAPCIS 5.1. Version 5.2 should automatically recognize your registration number from that file. If you must re-create your PARAMS.CIS file, you will need to enter your registration number again by following the instructions in the printed documentation on page 28. Use the Program Disk number from your TAPCIS 5.1 diskettes as the registration number, and write that number on the inside cover of your manual. ********************************************************************** ====================================================================== Backup! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please take a moment to backup your TAPCIS program and files. This version has been beta tested by many registered users. However, in the unlikely event that you run into a problem with the new version that keeps you from getting online, it is good to be able to revert to the 5.1 version. Backups are always a good idea when installing ANY new software. Complete Online Actions ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Before you start with 5.2, be sure to complete all pending online actions in 5.1. Those action files are incompatible with 5.2. Remove ;OLDF ---------------------------------------------------------------------- If you added ;OLDF to the end of your user id on the parameters screen, remove it. TAPCIS 5.2 will not operate properly with this option (it uses the new forum software). Reset CompuServe Default Parameters ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Deselect all forums and EasyPlex and press to go online and reset the CompuServe default parameters (Alt-P replaces Ctrl-D). We've made some changes required to work with the new forum software. Get New Sections ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Select all forums except EasyPlex and use the command to get new section and library names (Alt-J replaces Ctrl-X). These are still saved in the .SEC files.
