                          -----------------------

PC-TAGS(tm) is a DOS and OS/2 source-code retrieval system that will
locate and retrieve a function or procedure definition from a text file
written in C, Pascal, BASIC, dBASE, Assembly, Modula-2 or any other language
(including English). After locating the correct source file, PC-TAGS will
load the file into your editor and place the cursor at the retrieved
function or procedure's beginning.

PC-TAGS can be used in conjunction with any text editor or programming
environment. There is no need to change your current method of working.
Further, if you use a MAKE facility or version-control system, PC-TAGS can
be easily integrated into your current system.

Instructions on using PC-TAGS can be found in the "PC-TAGS User Manual"
supplied on-disk in the distribution package. The PC-TAGS distribution
includes the following files:

              PCTAGS.DOC -- PC-TAGS User Manual
              PCTAGS.EXE -- Tagfile-Generator Program File

              RETROMAC.COM -- Self-Extracting Program Containing the
                                   Following Files:
                 RETRO.M -- BRIEF Macro RETRO
                 RETRO.E -- Epsilon Macro RETRO
                 RETRO.KML -- KEDIT Macro RETRO
                 RETRO -- ME Macro RETRO
                 RETRO.SRC -- Multi-Edit Macro RETRO

RETRO.COM -- Resident RETRO Program File
RETROCON.EXE -- Configuration Program for Resident RETRO

              RETROCL.EXE -- Command-Line RETRO Program File

LICENSE -- PC-TAGS License and Warranty Agreement
                                 Also contains quantity-discount schedules.

              ORDERFRM -- Registration Form
CREDIT.CRD -- Information on registering by credit card

              OS2.VER -- Information about the OS/2 version of PC-TAGS

              READ.ME -- This file

In order to fit the entire PC-TAGS package on a single 360K diskette,
several files have been combined into a single program file, RETROMAC.COM.
RETROMAC.COM is a self-extracting archive program. Simply execute the
program from the DOS command prompt and the files contained within it will
automatically be extracted.

Do not attempt to extract the RETROMAC.COM files onto the original
PC-TAGS distribution disk; there will not be enough room unless you delete
some of the files first (this is not recommended). The best method is to
copy the RETROMAC.COM program onto either a hard disk or an empty floppy
disk. Then extract the files by executing the RETROMAC program.

The best place to start learning how to use PC-TAGS is by reading the
"PC-TAGS User Manual" in the file PCTAGS.DOC. It will explain everything
about the PC-TAGS software package.

The PC-TAGS software system is distributed as shareware. The version you
currently possess is an unregistered evaluation copy. The unregistered
version contains requests for user input during the course of its
processing. These requests act as a reminder that the current version is
for evaluation purposes only.

You may use the evaluation copy of PC-TAGS for a maximum of 30 days. If
you find PC-TAGS to be a useful tool and wish to continue using it beyond
the 30-day evaluation period, you must register your copy with Moderne
Software.

To register PC-TAGS, simply fill out the form contained in the ORDERFRM
file and mail it to the address indicated on the form. Upon receipt of your
registration, Moderne Software will send you a registered version of
PC-TAGS. The registered version does not contain the input requests found
in the evaluation copy. Also included in the registered version is a
printed copy of the PC-TAGS manual.

PC-TAGS is also available in a version that will execute under the OS/2
operating system. This version is only available by registering PC-TAGS.
Further information can be found in the files LICENSE and OS2.VER.

Be sure to read the LICENSE file. It contains the PC-TAGS license and
warranty agreement you agree to abide by when using or distributing the
PC-TAGS software package.

We hope you will find PC-TAGS to be a useful and vital part of your
computer environment.

   Enjoy!
