PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Exchequer is an easy-to-use check writing and checkbook
management program for IBM PC-compatible computers.  It is
designed primarily for home users and small businesses wishing to
automate and simplify the process of paying their bills.  

Exchequer is designed to work the way most people use their
checkbook.  It looks and works just like a regular checkbook. 
Your current balance is always displayed on the screen.  It
memorizes all of the information for up to 255 checks which you
pay routinely and lets you pay a bill with just two keystrokes. 
It simplifies balancing your checkbook by finding all uncleared
checks and deposits, then calculating an up-to-date balance.
      
Although Exchequer avoids the complexities of most small
accounting programs, it also provides many features which support
small business accounting.  For example, transactions can be
assigned to any of 255 user-defined budget categories and any
transaction can be split up to 10 ways.  This greatly simplifies
tax preparation.  Exchequer also works with an unlimited number
of accounts.
      
Exchequer also provides powerful yet flexible reporting
capabilities. Any part of the check register can be printed in
chronological order, sorted by category, or sorted by payee.  You
can list all transactions in a single category or to/from a
single party.  Exchequer even prints an income statement.  Any
report can be sent to a printer, the screen or a file.

Unlike most competitive programs, Exchequer works with virtually
any type of check and provides an intuitive, graphical method for
formatting your printed check.  
  
Exchequer runs on any IBM PC, XT, AT or PS/2 compatible computer
running DOS 2.0 or higher and works with any graphics adapter. 
Exchequer requires approximately 230 K of available memory and
requires just one floppy-disk drive.  It supports any printer
which handles continuous-feed checks.

UNIQUE FEATURES: We feel Exchequer is by far the best shareware
checkbook manager available and that it compares very favorably
with Intuit's Quicken program.  Unlike most programs, it displays
the check register directly on the screen.  It also provides a
very convenient way for selecting the checks you want to print. 
It also has the most flexible check layout feature that we have
seen on any program.  

PROGRAM'S CAPACITY/LIMITATIONS: Exchequer handles up to a maximum
4000 transactions, 255 categories, and 255 memorized
transactions.  The actual number of these items is limited by the
amount of free RAM.
