DOCS DIRECTORY README
=====================
This README.TXT file tells you about the contents of the DOCS directory. 
We've created this directory to make it easy for you to locate the manuals 
that go with the different benchmarks. This directory contains a separate 
subdirectory for each benchmark. Each subdirectory contains copies of that 
benchmark's manual files in uncompressed form. We've also also included the 
help files for each benchmark. 


THE DOCUMENTATION WE PROVIDE
============================
Each benchmark includes two manuals:  A tester's handbook and a reference 
manual. The tester's handbook contains the minimum information you need
to run the program, save the results, and interpret those results. The
reference manual explains in detail all aspects of the benchmark program, 
such as how to install the files, how to analyze and interpret the results, 
what can affect a PC's results, and how we developed the benchmark's tests.

We provide three versions of each manual (space permitting): 

*       Microsoft (R) Word 6.0c for Windows (R) format (.DOC extension). 
	This one's nicely formatted and includes screen captures. 

*       Rich Text Format (.RTF extension). If you don't have Word for 
	Windows, you may be able to open this file with another word 
	processor that can read RTF and then print it. You'll lose some 
	formatting when you import the RTF file, but you'll still get all 
	the text and possibly the screen captures, depending on the
	application's graphics abilities.

*       A plain-text, ASCII version (.TXT extension). This is an unformatted 
	version of the file. This one's not very pretty, but if you can't 
	use either of the other versions, you should be able to print this 
	ASCII file.

We've also included the help files for Winstone (R) 96 and WinBench (R) 96. 
These files are the files with the .HLP extension. You can access the help 
file when the benchmark is running or by executing it from the Windows File 
Manager or Program Manager.
