DISKETTE DIRECTORY README ========================= This is the README file for the \ZDBENCH\DISKETTE directory. It explains how to create a set of installation diskettes for WinBench (R) 96 from the CD-ROM. Making a set of installation diskettes ====================================== If you don't have a CD-ROM drive on the PC you wish to test, you can make a set of installation diskettes from the CD-ROM by using a CD-ROM drive on another PC. NOTE: If you have a CD-ROM drive on the PC you want to test, you don't need to make these diskettes. You can install WinBench directly from the PC Benchmarks CD-ROM. To make a set of installation diskettes, you'll need a DOS machine that has a CD-ROM drive. You'll also need two formatted, high-density, 3.5-inch, empty diskettes. You should label the first diskette "WinBench 96 Version 1.0 DISK1", and the second diskette "WinBench 96 Version 1.0 DISK2". We've included a batch file you can use to create the diskettes in the \ZDBENCH\DISKETTE\WB96 directory. To copy the necessary WinBench 96 files to the diskettes: 1. Put the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. 2. Change to the \ZDBENCH\DISKETTE\WB96 directory on the CD-ROM. For example, if the CD-ROM drive is the D drive, you'd use a command similar to the following: CD D:\ZDBENCH\DISKETTE\WB96 3. Execute the batch file MAKEDISK.BAT and supply the name of the diskette drive. For example, if your PC's diskette drive is the A drive, use the following command: MAKEDISK.BAT A MAKEDISK.BAT will prompt you when you need to insert the next diskette. NOTE: Before you use any Ziff-Davis benchmark, you must agree to that benchmark's license agreement. You'll see the license agreement the first time you run any of the benchmarks. We also include the license agreement in each benchmark's documentation. TRADEMARKS ========== WinBench (R) is a registered trademark of Ziff-Davis Publishing Company.
