What versions will it patch?

The patch will update all retail versions of Mercenaries including 1.0, 1.05 and 3Dfx.

Where can I get the patch?

The patch file is 17.5 MB in size.

From our East coast ftp server, ftp://east.ftp.activision.com/activision/mercs/mpatch.EXE.
From our West coast ftp server, ftp://west.ftp.activision.com/activision/mercs/mpatch.EXE.

What should I do before installing the patch?

You should run SCANDISK and DEFRAG on your hard drive before patching to improve game performance.
For the best results, you should uninstall Mercenaries, delete all left over files (you will not be able to use your old saved games or custom 'Mechs ©), and re-install the Windows 95 version of the game.
If you have added any servers for MercNet you will want to make a copy of Servers.txt which is in your game directory. This file will be overwritten while the patch installs and any additional Internet seervers you have entered will be lost.
Empty your recycle bin and close all programs.

How do I install the patch?

The MPATCH.EXE file that you download may reside anywhere on your hard drive. Just double-click on the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.

How do I play MercNet for Windows 95?

You will need a TCP/IP Internet connect (the same type you need to use one of the popular web browsers). Once your Internet connection is established, click the MercNet button in the game main screen or run Mercnet.exe in your game directory.

With a 28.8k modem connection to the Internet, it is recommended that you play with four or less players.

Troubleshooting Patch Installation

If any of your Mercenaries game files have been altered in any way then the patch may not install. You will have to uninstall the game, re-install the game and then apply the patch.

I'm having trouble printing this page...

Problem: Whenever I print this page, my printer prints the page black on black and I can't read the type.

Solution: Follow these steps:

In your browser, select the EDIT menu.
Choose SELECT ALL.
Open a text editor or word processing program.
Choose the EDIT menu and PASTE the text into your text editor or word processor.
Print.
