Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, a first-person shooter that takes you on a thrill-packed dinosaur hunt. The game is based on Acclaim Comics' Turok comic book series, relaunching in December 1996. To be Turok -- in the Saquin Nation language -- is to be a Son of Stone -- a protector of Earth. It is a mantle, passed down through the generations to the eldest born male of the Fireseed family. Throughout history, a Fireseed has served as Turok and fought against the threats to humanity from the residents of the LOST LAND. It is a place out of time, an interdimensional "sewer of the universe" where past, present and future collide, where alien races struggle for dominance alongside rampaging dinosaurs. A place which, throughout time, has been tamed by one man -- TUROK. Whether ripped from the plains of 1860's America or struggling through college on a baseball scholarship today, a Turok has always answered the call of battle. You are now Turok -- and your time has come... GAME OBJECTIVE: Turok must defeat the archvillain Campaigner and his battalion of bionically enhanced dinosaurs before they can conquer the universe. This involves tracking down pieces of the Chronoscepter, an ancient weapon with mystical power. The Campaigner, having created a device that amplifies and focuses the power of this awesome artifact, plans to use the apparatus and the power of the Chronoscepter to bridge the gap between The Lost Land and other dimensions of the universe. His goal is to lead an army of dinosaurs through time, enabling his conquest of the universe. GAME PLAY: Imagine mountains, rugged ridges, sheer cliffs, primeval forests and steaming jungles, as well as interiors and exteriors of ancient ruins. In some areas movement is contained by the terrain; in others Turok moves freely. Gameplay is spread over eight levels, and certain key combinations open entrances to different lands including treetop villages, catacombs, caves and tribal villages. While levels can be completed in sequence, there are opportunities to move between levels. Gameplay within an individual level is non-linear.
