               ATTENTION NEW PCBOARD -> UUCP SYSOPS
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are currently setting up a PCBoard to UUCP gateway on your
system, sometimes it's difficult to test whether or not your email or
newsgroups are actually going anywhere after they leave your system.
If you are setting up Usenet newsgroups, you can send a "test"
article to the newsgroup misc.test, and several auto-responders will
send you back canned messages, letting you know that your news
article got out.
The Ability OnLine Support Network in Toronto Canada, would like to
provide a FREE service to any Sysop looking for a site to send test
Internet email messages, simply by sending email to:
                        test@ablelink.org
Your message will arrive (provided you have configged your gateway
properly <grin>) at the Ability OnLine Support Network, and our
auto-responder will send you a reply, quoting back the body of your
original message.  This will provide you with an opportunity to study
the UUCP header of the email coming in from another site.
In addition, if any of your users would like to test out their
understanding of Internet addressing, the same offer is available.
All they have to do is send an email message from your site to:
                        test@ablelink.org
From my own experience of recently setting up an Internet gateway,
there is no bigger thrill for a user than sending amessage out on the
Internet and actually getting a reply. This is an opportunity for
them to try it out without having to find another user at another
site who is prepared to send back replies.  During the 1st month of
connection to the Internet, our own users on Ability OnLine posted
over 800 email messages, and by FAR, the majority of them were
    "...this is just a test..., let me know if you got it!"
type of messages. Sure, it costs a few bucks..., but remember how
thrilled YOU were the first time you actually received a personal
message on a BBS.
Please feel free to post this information to your users, or pass it
along to other systems.  The offer to send "test mail" to Ability
OnLine is just one small way that we can repay some thanks the the
wonderful world of BBSing that we all enjoy.
