Setting up Windows 3.1 to connect to Salt Air for PPP access involves many
steps. Once setup, you are only a couple of clicks away from browsing the
web or using other Internet applications.

In performing the setup, you'll need a winsock application. We'll use the
popular Trumpet Winsock. You can get this from any of the authorized
FTP distribution sites:

   ftp://ftp.synapse.net/contrib/trumpet/
   ftp://ftp.laa.com.au/pub/trumpet/
   ftp://ftp.eexi.gr/pub/systems/windows/win31/sockets/winsock
   ftp://ftp.mms-gmbh.de/pub/trumpet/
   ftp://ftp.more.net/pub/mirrors/winsock/
   ftp://ieee.cas.uc.edu/pub/winsock/TRUMPET/

If you need access to FTP, call Salt Air and open up the PCBIC door for
access to the FTP application.

NOTE: Make sure you follow all of the instructions in this document. Each
step is essential to the end goal -- logging onto Salt Air for PPP access.

Setting Up Trumpet Winsock
--------------------------
Since Windows 3.1 does not have built-in TCP/IP or Winsock support, we need
to use a third-party source to accomplish this (Trumpet Winsock). Of course,
if you find this utility useful, you are encouraged to reward the author for
his effort by sending in the required shareware fee.

        1. Unzip the TWSK21F.ZIP into the C:\TRUMP directory.
        2. Click on your Program Manager window.
        3. Select File from the menu.
        4. Select New.
        5. Select Program Group.
        6. Click OK.
        7. Enter "Winsock/Internet" for the description.
        8. Click OK.
        9. Select File from the menu.
        10. Select New
        11. Select Program Item.
        12. Enter "Trumpet Winsock" in the Description field.
        13. Enter "C:\TRUMP\TCPMAN.EXE" in the Command Line field.
        14. Enter "C:\TRUMP" in the Working Directory.
        15. Click on OK.

Trumpet Winsock is now installed on your system. Now we need to configure
the program with appropriate values for an Internet Connection.

        1. Double click on the Trumpet Winsock icon.
        2. Choose whether you agree to licensing terms.
        3. Enter "206.173.168.40 199.3.12.2" in the Name Server field.
        4. Enter "pcboard.com" in the Domain suffic field.
        5. Enter 1500 in the MTU field.
        6. Enter 4380 in the TCP RWIN field.
        7. Enter 1460 in the TCP MSS field.
        8. Select Internal PPP.
        9. Enter the COM port to use in the "SLIP port" field. For example
to use COM2, enter 2 in this field.
       10. Enter either 38400 or 57600 for the baud rate.
       11. Make sure Hardware handshaking is enabled.
       12. Set online status detection to "DCD (RLSD) check.
       13. Click OK.
       14. Click OK.

Now we just need to setup the program to use our script.

        1. Take the TRUMP.CMD file within this archive, and copy it to your
            C:\TRUMP subdirectory.
        2. Load TRUMP.CMD using NOTEPAD or a similar text editor.
        3. Edit the $username to have your logon name between the quotes.
        4. Edit the $password to have your logon password.
        5. Change the $phonenum to 1-801-261-8976. Remember to include
any additional information for dialing such as 9 or the country
            code if required.
        6. Change the $langnum to be 4 instead of 3.
        7. Save and exit the file.
        8. Select Dial from the Trumpet Winsock menu.
        9. Select Other.
        10. Select "trump.cmd" from the file listing.
        11. Press OK.
        12. Wait for the login to complete and which you will see
PPP Enabled show up in the Trumpet window.

Congratulations
