AB Patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) now have a
longer life span due to more effective therapies. Cardiovascular
complications are increasingly common in HIV-positive patients and those
with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Understanding the
manifestations of the disease pathogenesis in general and the specific
cardiovascular problems that can occur provides direction for supportive
       care.
