Assumes that your right mouse button is the one you use most
often. You generally click this button by using the index finger
of your left hand.

Adjusts the amount of time that can pass between clicks when you
double-click your primary mouse button. If you are an
inexperienced mouse user, double-clicking may be easier if you
drag the slider to the left. You can test the double-click speed
by double-clicking the image to the right of the slider.


Shows how your mouse buttons will function based on the current
configuration.


Provides a place for you to test the double-click speed of your
mouse. If the jack-in-the-box emerges or disappears, Windows
recognized your double-click.


Adds a trail to the mouse pointer, which makes it easier to see
on LCD screens. To change the length of the pointer trail, drag
the slider below.


Adjusts the length of the pointer trail. If this setting is
unavailable, make sure the Show Pointer Trails box is checked.


 Shows what type of mouse you are using. To set up a new mouse,
click Change.


Click this to set up the software for a new mouse. 

Enables you to change additional mouse settings. These settings
are provided by your mouse driver, which was designed for Windows
3.1. You may want to contact your mouse manufacturer to see if an
updated driver is available.


Adjusts the speed at which the pointer moves on your screen. 


Lists sets of mouse pointers that you can use. Each pointer shape
is a visual cue that indicates what Windows is doing or what you
can do in a given context. 


Deletes the pointer scheme that is selected in the Scheme box.


Prompts you to give your current pointer scheme a name. The name
you specify will appear in the Scheme list, so you can easily
restore these settings later.


Provides a place for you to type a name for your current pointer
settings. The name you type will appear in the Scheme list, so
you can easily restore these settings later. 


Lists the mouse pointers that make up the selected scheme. You
can change the appearance of a pointer by selecting it, clicking
Browse, and then double-clicking the filename of a different
pointer. If no pointers appear in the Browse dialog box,
double-click Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and install the
optional mouse pointers.


Click this to replace the selected mouse pointer with a different
one. If no pointers appear in the Browse dialog box, double-click
Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and install the optional
mouse pointers.


Shows the selected pointer. Some displays support animated
pointers. If you have selected an animated pointer and your
display supports this feature, you can preview the animation in
this box.

Returns your pointer settings to the ones that Windows uses by
default.

of the dialog box, and then click the specific item you want
information about.


To reverse your mouse buttons
1    Click here   !EF(`main.cpl',`Mouse,0')  to display Mouse

2    In the Button Configuration area, click Right-Handed or
Left-Handed.


To adjust the double-click speed for your mouse
1    Click here   !EF(`main.cpl',`Mouse,0')  to display Mouse
properties.
2    In the Double-Click Speed area, drag the slider.
Tip
     To test the speed, double-click the image in the Test Area. 


To adjust the speed of your mouse pointer
1    Click here   !EF(`main.cpl',`Mouse,2')  to display Mouse
properties.
2    Click the Motion tab.
3    In the Pointer Speed area, drag the slider.
Tip
     Changing the speed of your mouse pointer causes the pointer
to respond more quickly or slowly to the movements of the mouse
itself.


To turn on and adjust the mouse pointer trail
1    Click here   !EF(`main.cpl',`Mouse,2')  to display Mouse
properties.
2    Click the Motion tab.
3    In the Pointer Trail area, make sure the Show Pointer Trails
box is checked. 
4    To adjust the length of the pointer trail, drag the slider.
Tip
     This option is especially useful if you are using an LCD
screen.


To change the appearance of your mouse pointer
1    Click here   !EF(`main.cpl',`Mouse,1')  to display Mouse
properties.
2    Click the Pointers tab.
3    To change all your pointers at one time, select a different
scheme in the Scheme list.
     To change only one pointer, click it, click Browse, and then
double-click the filename of the pointer you want to use.
Tips
     By default, only a limited set of mouse pointer schemes is
installed during Windows Setup. For information about installing
a few others, click Related Topics.
     You can customize as many pointers as you want, and then
save them as a new scheme by clicking Save As.
     To remove a pointer scheme, click it in the Scheme list, and
then click Delete.

To change mouse settings if you have a Windows 3.1 driver
